Chapter 104 Unknown Battle Techniques

All of them stood silently in the brightly lit chamber of the mausoleum, and a solemn silence descended upon the room.

After a long while, Tonny asked, looking at Eric, "Eric, what do we do now? This Boss is too terrifying; there's no way we can take it down."

On the other side, Scarlet also said helplessly, "Isabella, it looks like we can't get through this."

The others nodded in agreement. Knowing something was impossible and still doing it was foolish.

"Are we just going to give up like this?" Isabella's long eyelashes trembled slightly, and her bright eyes moved back to the Kobold King. After coming this far, was she really going to give up?

Patchy Leor, King of Kobolds, Lord-level, Level 6, HP 120,000.

Not to mention its terrifying HP, just the title of Lord-level was enough to make players shudder. It indicated that the monster was terrifying in some aspect, whether it be speed, strength, or magic. Just from the terrifying aura the Kobold King exuded, its steel-like bulging muscles, and the pitch-black greatsword embedded in the ground, it was clear that it was not to be reckoned with, even without engaging it.

"How about we give it a try? Phantom Slayer, you go test the Boss's strength, and the rest of us will exit the hall," Isabella suggested after thinking for a moment.

She still planned to give it a try to see if they could find a strategy.

"Let's head out then," Eric also said.

Isabella's idea matched his own. Let the MT test it out first, and then they could observe and come up with a strategy.

Shield Warrior Phantom Slayer then started recording a video and charged towards the Kobold King.

At the same time, the heavy stone doors of the hall began to close.

Just as Phantom Slayer was halfway through his charge, the Kobold King abruptlyopened its eyes, casually retrieved its pitch-black greatsword, and with a mighty push of its muscular legs, lunged towards Phantom Slayer.

Its speed was like a Stormblade, sweeping towards Phantom Slayer.

Phantom Slayer was taken aback but quickly raised his shield to his chest in response.

In an instant, a black flash with a sonic boom struck the shield.

Phantom Slayer was sent flying, taking 633 damage. His entire arm went numb. Without the shield to block, he would have been killed in one blow.

Phantom Slayer prided himself on his skills, being an elite of the Devouring Serpents. If he couldn't even gauge the Boss's strength, it would be utterly embarrassing.

He quickly stood up, drank a basic healing potion, and his HP recovered to more than half. Just as he was about to strike the Boss, he suddenly realized the Boss was already behind him, raising the greatsword high and slashing down forcefully.

Shield Wall!

Phantom Slayer had no opportunity to evade and could only rely on his life-saving skill to endure the incoming attack.

Using Shield Wall reduced damage by half for 12 seconds.

The pitch-black rune greatsword fell again. Although Phantom Slayer blocked it with his shield, he was forced to his knees, the stone tiles beneath him cracking like a spider web. His HP instantly dropped by 426, leaving him critically low.

The Kobold King then kicked Phantom Slayer in the side, sending him crashing into the wall, his HP dropping to zero in the blink of an eye.

The entire battle lasted less than 3 seconds, and a top-tier MT was down.

The stone doors of the hall hadn't even fully closed before they opened again.

Seeing Phantom Slayer embedded in the wall, everyone was stunned.

What just happened?

The doors had just closed, and now they were open, and the MT was dead.

"Judy, revive Phantom Slayer," Isabella said grimly.

Phantom Slayer being taken down so quickly further demonstrated the Boss's strength.

After being revived, Phantom Slayer, wearing a somber expression, shared the recorded video with the group for analysis.

"So strong!" Scarlet exclaimed in surprise. "That speed, that strength, that reaction time, and the varied attack patterns—Is this really an NPC? Could it be a disguised martial arts master?"

Seeing the Boss in person was even more impressive. Even with Phantom Slayer's impressive skills, he couldn't inflict any damage on the Boss, which was truly terrifying.

Even the strongest boss Scarlet had seen was like a bunny compared to the Kobold King.

Eric's Squad, who had fought Lord-level Bosses before, felt a heavy weight after watching the video.

There was no denying that the Lord Boss in a team dungeon was much stronger than one in a small dungeon. It wasn't just a matter of speed and strength; the attack patterns were much more varied as if fighting a master, but this master's physical attributes were several times theirs. How could they fight that?

Even if Eric was skilled, he probably couldn't hold out for long. After all, the Boss's HP was 120,000, and their HP was less than 1000.

"Let's retreat," Isabella said after a long contemplation. She had run various simulations, and the result was always total annihilation. She decided not to waste time and planned to tackle the Common Level Shadowmoon Graveyard instead. The Common Level Boss there should be a leader-level, much weaker. With their current gear, they had a 20%-30% chance of taking it down.

Hearing Isabella's decision, the group reluctantly acquiesced and retrieved their return scrolls.

Just then, Eric spoke in the team chat, "I've analyzed the Kobold King's attack patterns. If Ms. Collins and I, along with two MTs, switch off in the battle, we might have a chance. Ms. Collins, do you still want to tackle the Boss?"

Eric's voice, though small, was like a beacon in the dark, illuminating everyone's hearts.

"Eric, are you serious?" Tonny looked at the Kobold King and swallowed hard. Merely standing at this distance caused his legs tremble. If he were to move any closer, he might risk collapsing.

It wasn't just Tonny; the others were also feeling the pressure from the Boss's aura, instinctively wanting to flee.

"Do you have a plan?" Scarlet's eyes flashed with surprise as she looked at Eric.

This was a Lord-level Boss in a team dungeon, much stronger than a Wilderness Lord in terms of HP, attack, and attack patterns. The Kobold King wielded an overwhelming amount of power. Scarlet doubted Eric had a strategy.

Eric shrugged, looking at the Kobold King. "I'm not very confident, but we can give it a try. Losing 10% of our experience isn't a big deal. We have acquired a significant amount of experience during our journey here. Even if we die, we've gotten a lot of gear. Are you really willing to give up?"

Isabella was taken aback. She hadn't expected Eric to surprise her so much. Even if they didn't take down the Boss this time, she was determined to recruit Eric into the Devouring Serpents.

"How confident are you?" Isabella's icy demeanor finally showed a hint of a warm smile.

"20% confident," Eric said conservatively. He actually estimated a 50% chance but didn't want to scare them and arouse suspicion.

"What? Only 20%?" Scarlet rolled her eyes at Eric. Who would dare take such a low success rate?

"Alright, tell us your plan, and I'll fully support you," Isabella interrupted Scarlet, speaking softly.

Isabella estimated their chances of taking down a Lord-level Boss at zero, but a leader-level Boss at 20%-30%. Given Eric's previous performance, she didn't think he was exaggerating. If he said 20%, it was worth a try.

She was also intrigued by Eric's four-person switch-off strategy. Isabella didn't know what kind of combat method it was, however, if it had such a high success rate against the Lord-level Kobold King, it would be worthwhile to investigate further.
