Chapter 366 Virtual Reality Pod

Eric listened to Tonny's excited report, feeling a bit speechless.

Even if Tonny hadn't told him, he would have found out once he logged into Divine Realms: Legends. There was no need for Tonny to rush over and inform him.

"You didn't come all the way here just for this, did you?" Eric asked.

"Nah, not just for this. Rosewater mentioned that using a high-end virtual helmet could limit your performance and growth since it only offers 90% immersion, whereas the virtual reality pod offers 97%. So, we've been working on getting the virtual reality pods for a while now," Tonny explained with a grin. "But these things are in high demand. Even with Rosewater's help, we barely managed to get five units. I brought one over for you, and the staff has already installed it in your house. You can use it today."

"A virtual reality pod? Where'd you get the money for that?" Eric asked, shocked.

Although he had left a considerable amount of money in the studio's account, it was nowhere near enough to buy five virtual reality pods.

A single pod costs three million credits, and they're always in short supply due to the difficulty of manufacturing and the rarity of the materials needed. Unlike high-end virtual helmets, the pods are produced in limited quantities and are quickly snapped up by major corporations.

Many people wonder why this is the case.

Why is something so expensive, which only offers a 7% increase in immersion, so popular?

Eric used to think the same way. How much could a 7% difference really improve a player's performance? Why spend the extra money?

But once Eric used a virtual reality pod, he no longer found the idea laughable.

That 7% difference is like night and day. Tests have shown that a skilled player can achieve 71% of their combat potential with a high-end virtual helmet, but with a virtual reality pod, they can reach 75%. Additionally, the pod not only enhances combat performance but also accelerates the growth of combat skills, aids in brain potential development, and improves physical recovery and fitness.

If Eric had used a virtual reality pod back then, he wouldn't have been stuck at the third-tier peak. He had focused solely on Divine Realms: Legends, neglecting his physical fitness, which deteriorated year after year. By the time he realized the problem, it was too late...

"Rosewater covered all the costs. She said that Aether Wing Studios is the top studio in Evergreen City and a prominent guild in Silvervale City. If people found out that the president of the Guild of Aether Wing was still using a high-end virtual helmet, it would be embarrassing and make us a laughingstock. So, we had to buy the virtual reality pods, and you must use one for the guild's reputation," Tonny explained, leaving Eric with no room to argue.

"Alright, I'll accept the virtual reality pod, but we need to repay Rosewater. The Silvervale City guide I compiled has generated over two million credits in ongoing revenue. I'll transfer that to Rosewater, and I'll figure out the rest," Eric said. He desperately needed the pod but had no way to purchase one. Since Rosewater had already bought it, he would accept the favor, but the money had to be repaid.

However, he was currently low on funds. Despite earning a lot and receiving a fifty-million-credit settlement from Echoes of Dusk, most of it had gone into buying the studio's property and equipment for Divine Realms: Legends. He had some gold coins, which could be converted into credits, but he wouldn't do that. His Epic Level quest "Gospel Initiative" was running out of time, and he needed to save his gold coins.

"Ha, Eric, Rosewater knew you'd say that. She said she hasn't done much, just taken a 5% stake in the Guild of Aether Wing. If you want to repay her, make Aether Wing surpass Echoes of Dusk. That's the best repayment," Tonny laughed. "The pod is installed in your house, and I've told you everything. I need to get back; the guild is super busy right now."

With that, Tonny jogged out of the apartment complex.

"Surpass Echoes of Dusk, huh?" Eric muttered, watching Tonny leave.

His goal was more than just surpassing Echoes of Dusk. There were many unresolved issues in Silvervale City, especially with The Stygian Alliance being unusually quiet in the city's power struggle. It was unlike them.

After a brief moment of contemplation, Eric turned and walked into the apartment building, heading to his rented unit.

Inside, he found a white virtual reality pod, 8 feet long, 6 feet wide, and 5 feet high, lying quietly in the bedroom. From now on, he wouldn't need the high-end virtual helmet for Divine Realms: Legends.

The pod contained nutrient fluid and a health monitoring system, allowing extended gameplay without worrying about hunger or physical discomfort. Instead, it provided ample rest and recovery.

With 97% immersion, the pod would elevate his sensory experience to new heights, especially in adapting to the game's physical demands, almost rivaling real-life capabilities.

With the pod, Eric could finally unleash his true potential.

Looking around the sparsely furnished room, the expensive pod seemed out of place. It alone was worth more than the entire apartment.

"It's about time," Eric noted, seeing it was already 8 PM, his usual time to log into Divine Realms: Legends. He walked to the kitchen freezer and took out a Grade S Nutrition Serum from the metal case.

He placed two bottles in the freezer and opened one, drinking it in one gulp.

Unlike other nutritional serums, Grade S was unique. Despite being stored at 32°F, it felt like swallowing fire, burning from his mouth to his stomach, causing a stinging sensation. This feeling quickly spread throughout his body, making his skin flush as the serum cleansed toxins, revitalized cells, and unlocked his potential.

This sudden boost increased his strength from 512 pounds to 604 pounds, a significant leap.

Everything seeks balance, and the human body is no exception. Such a rapid increase comes with strain and damage. Eric had planned to buy Grade A Nutrition Serum for gradual recovery, but this single bottle of Grade S Serum did the job.

"I haven't had this in a while. I almost forgot the burning sensation of Grade S Nutrition Serum," Eric smiled. Despite the pain, he felt better than ever. He planned to save the remaining bottles for his parents to improve their health after years of hard work.

Eric then lay in the virtual reality pod and connected to Divine Realms: Legends.

The treasures dropped by the Mechanical Slaughterer awaited his appraisal. Being rare items, they had a two-hour hold time and required twelve hours in-game to unlock. Now was the perfect time to log in and check them out.

The thought of rare drops excited Eric. In his previous life, even a regular mutated monster's loot made major guilds envious. Now, dealing with a high-level Overlord's drops, he couldn't predict the extent of their value.
