Chapter 376 Divine Officiant
Isabella's grateful tone made Eric realize that things might not be as simple as they seemed.
After ten years of battling in Divine Realms: Legends and negotiating with various guilds, Eric was no longer the naive student he once was.
A first clear of a major dungeon was just that—a first clear. Devouring Serpents might miss out on some fame, but it wouldn't affect the guild's overall strength.
This time, Smile Over Ruins was the first to clear a major team dungeon in Eldoria. Isabella must have made some personal bet and lost.
"Five days, huh? Guess I can't slack off," Eric said, already committed.
Getting three Tier 4 NPCs to help in Eldoria City was no easy task, even for Eric. It would take considerable time and effort.
Convincing NPCs to assist wasn't straightforward, especially high-tier ones.
Eric pulled out his Shadowwing Citadel pass from his backpack and teleported directly to Shadowwing Citadel.
Shadowwing Citadel, a neutral zone, was a renowned city in Divine Realms: Legends, far surpassing Eldoria City in many aspects, including the number of high-tier NPCs. If luck was on his side, he might even encounter a Tier 5 pinnacle NPC, something rare even in the royal city.
Divine Realms: Legends had been active for quite some time, and the player base was growing rapidly, increasing the number of Shadowwing Citadel passes in circulation.
Walking down the wide streets of Shadowwing Citadel, Eric noticed a significant increase in players.
Most of these players were guild executives, trading items among themselves, much like Eric used to do—trading sturdy stones to earn a profit.
However, as more players flocked to Shadowwing Citadel, the opportunities for profit dwindled. Eric had stopped sending Rosewater to collaborate with other guilds, instead saving the collected Shadowwing Citadel passes for the Citadel's auction or to gather special items like Frostbite Grenades.
Besides shopping, Shadowwing Citadel's most alluring feature was its breathtaking scenery. By the mid-game of Divine Realms: Legends, many guild executives frequently visited Shadowwing Citadel for leisure.
The most stunning sight was undoubtedly Starview Tower.
Starview Tower was a marvel, like a dream world, captivating visitors. Many players wished they could live there forever.
"Starview Tower, it's been a while since I last visited," Eric thought, gazing at the towering structure, a landmark of Shadowwing Citadel.
Eric's current visit to Shadowwing Citadel was for Starview Tower.
From what Eric knew of Divine Realms: Legends' history, Starview Tower was older than Shadowwing Citadel itself. The Citadel was likely built around the Tower.
Starview Tower was an ancient relic from before the Great Cataclysm, its origins unknown even to Eric.
If there was a place in Shadowwing Citadel to find three Tier 4 NPCs, it would be Starview Tower, besides the Citadel's lord's mansion and the magic tower.
The lord's mansion housed the Citadel's lord, and the magic tower was home to numerous NPCs dedicated to the pursuit of magical mastery. Starview Tower had always been guarded by high-tier NPCs, making these three locations prime spots for finding powerful NPCs.
However, the lord's mansion and magic tower were not easily accessible to players.
Only Starview Tower, a tourist attraction, allowed players to enter freely.
Eric entered Starview Tower, where adorable elemental spirits danced in the air. The central spiral staircase led to the Tower's top. Despite the lack of sunlight, the Tower was illuminated by blue ethereal light, and the walls resembled a starry night sky, making everything visible.
Starview Tower had a unique effect.
Calmness.
Anyone entering the Tower, no matter how furious, would find themselves calming down.
Eric had no time to admire the starry scenery. He ascended the spiral staircase to Moonlit Ravine. Before he could enter, two Tier 2, level 180 black-robed knights blocked his way.
"Moonlit Ravine is off-limits to unauthorized personnel."
"I am Demonbane Kai Blackthorn. I need to see Lord Aslan Hartbell. Please inform him."
Eric revealed his Demonbane identity, knowing his Silvervale City viscount title meant nothing here.
"Look, there's a fool trying to enter Moonlit Ravine."
"Must be a newbie in Shadowwing Citadel. Everyone knows Moonlit Ravine is heavily guarded by powerful NPCs. Many top players have tried to get in, becoming Citadel citizens, only to be turned away. He thinks a few words will get him in?"
Starview Tower was famous in Shadowwing Citadel. Regular visitors knew entering Moonlit Ravine was impossible.
Seeing Eric's futile attempt, other players mocked him.
"Moonlit Ravine is off-limits to unauthorized personnel," the black-robed knights repeated, ignoring Eric's Demonbane identity, their eyes cold, ready to eject him.
Before they could act, a voice came from Moonlit Ravine.
"Let him in. I know him."
The knights halted, opened the door, and let Eric in.
"No way!"
"Wow, he actually got in!"
The visiting players were stunned. A newcomer to Shadowwing Citadel had entered Moonlit Ravine, a place no player had managed to access.
Eric, still processing what had happened, had planned to use a backup plan but found himself walking into Moonlit Ravine.
Moonlit Ravine was a spacious hall, filled with books, crystal artifacts, and a large water mirror on the ceiling reflecting the starry sky outside.
"You're late. I've been waiting. How do you plan to make up for this?"
A clear, pleasant voice reached Eric's ears. He turned to see a white-robed, holy Divine Officiant descending the stairs—Divine Officiant Sharon.
Hearing Sharon's reproachful tone, Eric remembered that Wiseman had told him in Silvervale City's town hall that Sharon wanted to see him at Starview Tower. He had forgotten due to other tasks.
Seeing Sharon's serene smile, Eric felt a sense of unease.
Moreover, Sharon was no longer the Tier 3 Divine Officiant Eric knew.
She was now a Tier 4 Divine Officiant!
