Chapter 412 Grand Lord
"Hey, take a breath and tell me what's up," Eric said gently.
Tonny tried to calm down, but the excitement of what had happened made it tough.
"Eric, did you hear? There was a meteor shower in Silvervale City," Tonny said, practically buzzing. "At first, it seemed like no big deal, but then they announced it wiped out the whole level 20 to 30 training area, White Mist Canyon."
"Now all the monsters in White Mist Canyon have gone nuts. Our guild's intel says these berserk monsters have an insane drop rate and give tons of experience. Plus, a Temple Ruins showed up, and it's guarded by some seriously tough monsters. Some top-tier Assassins went in and found a level 25 Grand Lord Grade monster deep inside. All the major guilds are gearing up to take down the Grand Lord."
A Grand Lord was a step above a high-level Overlord. Even in level 50 large-scale raids, the final boss was usually just a high-level Overlord.
The appearance of a Grand Lord Grade monster was a huge temptation for all the major guilds.
In Divine Realms: Legends, the rule was simple: the stronger the monster, the better the loot.
A Grand Lord Grade monster would at least drop Obsidian Level gear, and maybe even Epic Level items.
"Eric, how many people should we send?" Tonny asked.
"You said the meteor shower destroyed the entire White Mist Canyon," Eric's eyes lit up. "That's awesome. Tonny, get in touch with Rosewater right away. Tell her to organize a team, but we don't need too many people—500 should do, but they need to be strong. We'll meet at White Mist Canyon."
Eric had vivid memories of the Silvervale City meteor shower event from his previous life.
That event had sparked long-term player wars. No one, whether solo players or major guilds, could avoid it unless they stayed away from White Mist Canyon.
But how many players could resist the allure of what was in White Mist Canyon?
Even Eric himself had died six or seven times for the treasures in White Mist Canyon.
Yes, four or five times, which meant losing four or five levels.
Even so, Eric kept going back.
All for the sake of gear and money.
"Got it, I'll contact Rosewater right away," Tonny said, hanging up to make the call.
"The changes in history are significant. The meteor shower happened so quickly this time. I need to make a good profit from this," Eric thought, excited at the prospect of being the first to reach White Mist Canyon.
Eric was in desperate need of money. Although StellarTrails Emporium brought in over a thousand gold coins daily, and the guild's daily tasks added another dozen or so, it wasn't enough.
StellarTrails Emporium wasn't Eric's, and he had a 30,000 gold coin task to complete. He hadn't even reached half of that amount yet.
And the demon curse on Eric had little time left. If he didn't gather 30,000 gold coins to get a Tier 4 teleportation scroll and find The Book of Darkness to break the curse, his fate was sealed.
Death.
Eric had initially planned to use the enhanced Armor Scales of the Ancients made by MelancholyGrin to open up the market and increase income, but now that wasn't necessary.
White Mist Canyon was a goldmine.
After the meteor shower, not only did the temple appear and the monsters go berserk, boosting drop rates and experience, but that wasn't even the best part.
The real treasure was Starfire Ore.
After the meteor shower, Starfire Ore was scattered all over White Mist Canyon.
Starfire Ore was a rare mineral that only appeared where meteors fell. It could be refined into Starfire Essence, which increased forging success rates. The more you used, the higher the success rate. Although it was ineffective for Obsidian Level and above, it was invaluable for making Mithril and Adamantite Equipment.
A single piece of Starfire Ore was worth 1 silver coin, and a piece of Starfire Essence was worth 4 silver coins.
So, all the guilds in Silvervale City, even solo players, were itching to get their hands on Starfire Ore.
Eric wasn't about to miss this chance in this lifetime.
Everyone was focused on the Grand Lord in the Temple Ruins, oblivious to the Starfire Ore and its true value. It was the perfect opportunity for Eric to collect it.
Half an hour later, Eric and Violet Mistflow arrived at White Mist Canyon.
White Mist Canyon was no longer shrouded in white mist. Craters and flames were everywhere, and a ruined temple stood in the canyon's center, with monsters wandering around it.
When Eric arrived, the entrance to White Mist Canyon was packed with players, tens of thousands of them. All the major guilds from Silvervale City were there, but the majority were solo players.
"Guild Leader, I've already scouted the area. Smile Over Ruins has gathered over 6,000 people, Imperial Radiance has sent more than 2,000, Assassin's Alliance has over 2,000, and Devouring Serpents has more than 3,000 elite players, all above level 21. Are we really bringing only 500 people?" Rosewater asked, concerned.
"That's enough. More people aren't always better, and our goal is different from theirs," Eric said, having already calculated.
White Mist Canyon wasn't large, and the meteor impact sites were even fewer. Five hundred people were enough; any more would be a waste.
"Aren't we going to the temple?" Rosewater was surprised.
They had gathered the guild's top forces for the Grand Lord in the temple.
If Smile Over Ruins took down the Grand Lord, it wouldn't be good for Guild of Aether Wing.
The guild had quite a few Tier 1 players now.
Taking down the Grand Lord would be easier for them than for Smile Over Ruins, yet they weren't going...
"The Grand Lord isn't that easy to deal with. We're here to level up. To take on a level 25 Grand Lord, everyone needs to be around level 25. If they want to try, let them," Eric said with a smile.
What was a Grand Lord?
It was the final boss of an Infernal-level hundred-player raid. What could a bunch of Tier 0 players do?
Even if they could take down the Grand Lord, the cost would be unimaginable.
In the previous life, the major guilds had tried, but after losing thousands of players, they gave up.
At that time, the major guilds had some Tier 1 players, but now?
With the meteor shower happening early, only Aether Wing had some Tier 1 players. The other guilds had none. How could they fight a Grand Lord?
