Chapter 14 Extraordinary Player Physique
Three Assassins simultaneously attacked, causing significant damage to the unprepared Tonny. Despite wearing a few pieces of common cloth armor, Tonny still lost nearly half of his health.
System: [The ShadowForge Guild has initiated an attack on your team. Team members have the right to retaliate against ShadowForge Guild members without facing penalties for one hour.]
"I'll fight with you guys."
Tonny understood he was doomed. His speed couldn't match the Assassins', but before his imminent death, Tonny wanted to resist a bit. Uttering an incantation, he fired a point-blank shadow arrow at Shadowfang.
Shadowfang sneered. Although unavoidable, what threat could a weak spellcaster pose with his 80 health points at level 0? Could it really one-shot him?
With a loud bang, the shadow arrow struck Shadowfang.
A damage of 76 points appeared above Shadowfang's head, instantly reducing him to low health.
Seeing the damage, Shadowfang was stunned, his eyes almost popping out, and the other two Assassins were also shocked.
This wasn't just a spellcaster; it was a cannon.
The one who caused the damage, Tonny himself, was also amazed. He hadn't expected the level 3 shadow arrow to be so powerful.
In reality, Tonny didn't know it wasn't just the level 3 shadow arrow at work. There was also the Blackwood Staff with higher damage, the aura of a strong warrior, and additional damage due to level suppression that caused such high damage.
"Damn, guys, take him down. His staff must be Dark Iron equipment." Shadowfang, an experienced gamer, quickly realized, eyeing Tonny's weapon greedily. For Tonny to cause such high damage, he must have a Dark Iron Level Weapon. Otherwise, there was no way Tonny could nearly one-shot him.
Instantly, the two Assassins became more enthusiastic, rushing towards Tonny. They didn't even have Common Level Weapons, let alone Dark Iron Level Weapons. If they could loot a Dark Iron Level Weapon, they would hit the jackpot.
The three launched another attack. Tonny's health dropped to only 6 points, and it seemed he was about to meet his end. The three Assassins became more excited, as Dark Iron weapons were about to be theirs.
At that moment, Eric appeared. He swiftly positioned himself in front of Tonny in an unbelievable manner, blocking the attacks from the three Assassins with three sword strikes, creating sparks and sending the Assassins flying.
Before the three Assassins could land and react, they saw flashes of lightning.
Three bolts of lightning struck directly at the three Assassins still floating in the air.
Numerous damage figures emerged above the heads of the three, reducing their health to zero, turning them into stardust that dissipated instantly.
The low defense combined with level suppression made the level 2 Thunderbolt's effect extremely terrifying!
"Eric..." Tonny, dazed, looked at the figure in front of him, stunned. "Are you really Eric?"
Everything happened so quickly. Eric appeared suddenly, blocked the attacks from three directions with three sword strikes, and then used Thunderbolt, all in an instant, faster than the three Assassins could react.
Such agility and reflexes were hardly human-like. If it weren't for the fact that the person in front of him was indeed the familiar Eric, Tonny would have thought it was someone else impersonating him.
After scanning the surroundings, Eric noticed eight players, led by Blazeclaw, surrounding them. He couldn't linger and urged, "What are you waiting for? Let's go."
Although he had activated his agility and quickness with his enhanced reflexes and extraordinary physique, Eric's physical attributes were still too low. It was challenging to control and highly draining mentally. While he could have a few bursts of high performance, sustaining it for long periods was impossible. Faced with numerous plate armor classes and healers on the other side, the only choice was to retreat.
Tonny nodded repeatedly.
"Get them all; we must loot my Bronze Equipment and seize this mine." Blazeclaw licked his lips, excited. He didn't care about the deaths of the three Assassins at all.
They had spent several hours searching for Eric and Tonny in the Darkmoon Valley, significantly slowing down their leveling progress. Blazeclaw was initially furious, but accidentally discovering Eric and Tonny killing monsters changed his perspective. Seeing Tonny effortlessly kill a level 4 Kobold with the cover of smoke at the entrance, Blazeclaw was almost ecstatic. His resentment towards Eric lessened, and he felt grateful for the good grinding spot Eric had provided.
Leveling up beyond one's capabilities was notoriously difficult. Being able to kill a level 4 monster without taking damage was incredibly efficient. With this method, leveling up would be terrifyingly fast, allowing them to lead the game and establish a significant advantage, potentially dominating Willowbrook Town. Blazeclaw might even become the leader of ShadowForge Studios.
With the launch of Divine Realms: Legends, countless virtual game companies went bankrupt as billions of players flooded into the game. Many enterprises and conglomerates set foot in Divine Realms: Legends to get a piece of the pie, making it the most profitable virtual game.
Blazeclaw envisioned his rise in Willowbrook Town, surpassing major guilds and becoming the leader of ShadowForge Studios. Luxury cars, beautiful women, mansions—everything would be within reach, all thanks to Eric.
However, despite his gratitude, Blazeclaw couldn't overlook the Bronze Equipment on Eric and Tonny.
"Blazeclaw, those two escaped quickly, and we can't catch up." A berserker said.
"Let them run. We have this treasure trove, and that's enough." Blazeclaw's eyes gleamed as he saw the mine. He could already imagine himself leading the way in the future of Willowbrook Town.
"Blazeclaw, what about Shadowfang and the others? They all dropped to level 0 now, and their skill proficiency has decreased significantly." An Elementalist asked.
Blazeclaw cast a disdainful glance at his subordinates and replied, "Is that a problem? You saw it just now—standing far away and attacking the smoke-covered Kobold. Kobolds won't attack players, and this is a level 4 monster. Helping them level up won't be easy. Let them come quickly."
"Blazeclaw is indeed wise to find such a good spot. He will surely become the number one in our ShadowForge Studios," the Elementalist started to flatter him.
"Get lost. Who cares about being number one in ShadowForge Studios? I am the number one in Divine Realms: Legends," Blazeclaw retorted.
The other members of ShadowForge Studios agreed and mocked the Elementalist.
Under Blazeclaw's command, three magic classes stood at a distance and dealt damage while others lured the monsters into the smoke, methodically killing the Kobolds.
"This is so cool. Killing one Kobold and sharing the experience with so many people instantly gained us a 2% level-up."
"Blazeclaw is amazing. Not only do these monsters drop a lot of money and items, but these Kobolds respawn quickly. We can keep grinding endlessly until level 6. By then, ShadowForge Studios will surely be the top guild in Willowbrook Town."
The members of ShadowForge Studios laughed heartily. In just a few hours, everyone would reach level 6, dominating all other guilds in Willowbrook Town. The thought of it was exhilarating.
"You guys are lucky to follow me. The other captains are good-for-nothing. By then, I will be the leader of ShadowForge Studios," Blazeclaw declared confidently as his experience points surged. Within an hour, he could reach level 2, making up for his previous losses.
Not far from the Red Star Mine, Tonny watched with gritted teeth.
"Eric, are we just going to let this go? We worked so hard to get this information from the beta testers, and now these people are benefiting from it. It makes me angry just thinking about it. These ShadowForge Studios people are shameless. Luckily, I didn't join them."
Eric shook his head, glanced at the time on the System screen, and smiled faintly. "Let them enjoy it for now. Later, I'll show them what it means to laugh now and cry later."
