Chapter 26 Magical Operations

When Eric returned to the team, the elite Night Rabbit only had one-third of its health left.

The team displayed excellent coordination. Cola was holding the front line alone while the others were dealing heavy damage. Tonny, to manage aggro, didn't output aggressively but used Diabolic Lash to control and create breathing room for Cola. Cola's performance was solid, handling monsters steadily and managing aggro well. He was clearly not a beginner, but he still had a long way to go to become a master.

"Cola, don't always rely on your shield. This isn't like other virtual games. You must endure hits. You can also dodge attacks to reduce the pressure on healers. When attacking, focus on Night Rabbit's claws or weak points. This will ease the tank's burden," Eric didn't rush to assist Cola but instead taught everyone how to fight monsters.

In Divine Realms: Legends, treating the game like a traditional one would lead to tragic outcomes, as healing alone couldn't keep up with the incoming damage. Some teams brought an extra healer, but that resulted in insufficient damage output and eventual wipes. It took a few months for everyone to adapt to the combat style of Divine Realms: Legends, unlike the current clumsy but adorable state.

Since Eric aimed to train everyone for the future studio, he naturally wanted them to learn the combat style of Divine Realms: Legends sooner.

While some thought Eric was a newbie player, the veterans didn't comment much. They questioned how a newbie like Eric could lead but found his advice reasonable and followed it consciously.

Cola gradually changed his fighting style. He no longer rigidly used his shield to block but stepped back to evade attacks when the rabbit attacked. Although he primarily relied on his shield, this change significantly reduced the pressure on healers.

This alteration made killing Night Rabbit easier.

A few level 1 newbie players were slightly surprised. Their opinion of Eric shifted, realizing he wasn't as bad as they thought.

Eric smiled slightly and didn't mind it. Instead, he attentively observed Cola's performance and acknowledged his progress.

Although Cola would become a top-tier player in ten years, he still had a long way to go. A skilled tank wouldn't step back but dodge in place to avoid causing issues for ranged attackers. However, mastering this skill required rich combat experience and agile physical reflexes. Cola needed more practice.

Soon, the elite Night Rabbit fell, dropping a Berserker's skill book, Whirlwind Slash, and three copper coins.

Everyone marveled at the drop rate at the Infernal level. Defeating just one elite monster yielded a skill book. If they killed over ten elite monsters, they might get over ten skill books. Skill books were rare outside, even for common ones that cost a silver coin.

Eric understood their thoughts. Although the drop rate was higher at the Infernal level, it wasn't as high as they imagined. Eric handed Whirlwind Slash to the dazed Ezio and gave Cola a level 1 bronze defense plate dropped by the Dark Night Ranger, instantly boosting the team's strength.

Cola was so shocked upon receiving the defense plate. He quickly thanked Eric. With this bronze plate, Cola's defense increased by 14 points, and his health reached 350 points.

Except for Eric and Tonny, everyone envied them. Bronze Equipment was a testament to a player's skill and was hard to find outside. Eric acquired it single-handedly and generously gave it to Cola, changing everyone's perception of him. They now believed the captain was generous, unlike others who prioritized themselves and wouldn't even consider giving Bronze Equipment to temporary team members.

Subsequently, everyone followed Eric as they advanced.

The dim forest was terrifying, but after a fierce battle, they were less anxious.

Occasionally, some patrolling elite Night Rabbits appeared, but they were swiftly dealt with. Cola tanked one while Eric and Ezio rushed to kill another, with Eric focusing on the Night Rabbit in front of him.

With 700 health points, it didn't last long under their onslaught.

They then helped Cola deal with another Night Rabbit, and soon both were defeated, dropping a healing skill book, Recovery, with a 2-second casting time. Oracle could restore 37 health points instantly after learning this skill, a significant improvement over Life's Blessing. Combining the two skills could effectively mitigate the elite wild rabbits' damage. Drowsy Sloth continuously thanked Eric and the team for allowing him to learn this skill book, which was crucial for conquering dungeons. Selling it could fetch at least two to three silver coins.

"Don't worry about it. Skill books are meant to be used. Let's continue," Eric replied with a smile.

Healing skill books were the most valuable and rare after AoE skill books. However, the Silent Grove Dungeon was designed to lay the foundation for players in Divine Realms: Legends. At the Infernal level, the drop rate for basic healing skills was high. In a previous life, the Silent Grove Dungeon had dropped four healing skill books in one go, which wasn't exceptionally rare.

An hour later, Eric's team finally encountered the first boss on a flat grassland.

It was Wilmy, a boss at level 3 with 6000 health points.

Wilmy, a ferocious Night Rabbit, stood about two people tall with sharp steel claws on its paws. It reveled in carnage and was capable of inflicting massive damage, leaving behind trails of blood. Many players had tragically died under its claws.

Near Wilmy were seven elite Night Rabbits on guard. They were close enough that attacking one would draw the attention of the rest, potentially aggravating the boss. Facing seven elite Night Rabbits was even an overwhelming challenge to Eric, let alone with the addition of Boss Wilmy.

Without dealing with the seven elite Night Rabbits, they couldn't engage the boss. "Eric, what do we do now? There are too many Night Rabbits here, no room for us to move," Tonny looked anxious. With the boss in sight, the system added this challenge, making it extremely difficult. It truly lived up to its Infernal-level dungeon status, requiring absolute strength to overcome.

The team was frustrated with the system's setup. Who could withstand seven elite Night Rabbits? Even a level 5 Guardian Knight might struggle.

"Go wait behind that rock over there. Cola, prepare to tank, and no one attacks without my command," Eric understood the presence of seven elite Night Rabbits. He pointed to a large rock not far away and issued his orders.

Everyone followed Eric's orders without question. Throughout their journey, Eric's guidance led to the defeat of many Night Rabbits, with each member obtaining one or two pieces of Bronze Equipment. Tonny even acquired five pieces, making their team's strength surpass other elite teams. The credit for this achievement belonged solely to Eric's leadership.

Eric ran to a spot 120 feet away from the seven Night Rabbits, quietly hiding in the bushes, observing their movements.

The team understood that Eric intended to lure the monsters, but the proximity of the seven Night Rabbits posed a challenge. Moreover, as a swordsman, Eric lacked ranged attack capabilities. How could he lure them?

As time passed, everyone grew anxious. The potential consequences of Eric making a mistake were alarming. However, Eric remained calm and focused on the Night Rabbits in the distance without moving a muscle.

Suddenly, a gentle breeze blew, carrying fallen leaves from the treetops.

As the leaves slowly descended towards the Night Rabbits, Eric picked up a small stone and tossed it lightly.

The stone's trajectory was aimed at the Night Rabbit closest to the boss.

Everyone understood the possible outcome—an aggressive charge from the boss and the seven Night Rabbits, resulting in their inevitable demise.

As the small stone was about to hit the Night Rabbit, a fallen leaf obstructed its path. The stone hit the leaf, deflecting towards the Night Rabbit.

The Night Rabbit turned around abruptly, perplexed by the unexpected discomfort caused by a seemingly insignificant leaf. It veered away from the group, scanning its surroundings, in search of an unseen adversary.

Unconsciously, it distanced itself from the group by 60 feet and continued moving further away.

"Incredible!" Ezio's eyes widened in astonishment. The precision and high accuracy required to hit both the Night Rabbit and the leaf simultaneously, confusing the creature's aggro, was nothing short of magical.

Eric, a newbie player? Could he be a gaming deity playing tricks on them?

"Summoner, it's your turn to shine," Eric walked to the rock, looked at the Summoner, patted his shoulder, and said with a smile.
