Chapter 152 Legendary Figure
Eric's calm response left Sutharos completely floored.
He clearly already knew the depth and terror of The Stygian Alliance, yet Eric still resolutely chose to oppose The Stygian Alliance and refused to hand over the flame.
This was a first for Sutharos, dealing with someone like this.
"You really think Isabella's gonna save you from The Stygian Alliance? You're dead wrong," Sutharos sneered. "Even the big-shot Devouring Serpents wouldn't mess with us. What makes you think Isabella can protect you? I'll give you one last shot: hand over the flame, and you can continue to play in peace. Otherwise, there will be no place for you in the entire Divine Realms: Legends."
"Didn't I make myself clear?" Eric scoffed. "You think you can just scare me into giving you what you want? Let me spell it out for you; you'll regret messing with me."
In his past life, he might've caved, but things were different now. He had the guts and the means to take on a giant like The Stygian Alliance.
Eric's goal after his rebirth was to achieve what he couldn't before; build his own virtual empire. This journey was bound to put him up against the big players in Divine Realms: Legends.
If he bowed down to The Stygian Alliance now, how could he ever stand up to the other powerhouses in the game, fighting for resources, territories, gear, and more?
Sure, The Stygian Alliance was a big deal, both in the game and in real life, but no one could mess with the Main God System in Divine Realms: Legends, not even them.
Even if they wanted to find out who he was in real life, it was impossible. The game had been perfected over a century to protect player privacy, so much so that even virtual transactions couldn't reveal real identities.
"Fine, it seems you are truly determined to oppose The Stygian Alliance. Kai Blackthorn, then prepare yourself for hell!" Sutharos laughed angrily, shocked that Eric could be so fearless.
Eric was just a solo player. He had no clue how scary The Stygian Alliance was, which was why he dared to talk so big. To Sutharos, Eric was just an overconfident idiot who didn't know what fear was.
The main forces of The Stygian Alliance spanned two empires and several kingdoms, including Eldoria. Once he reported this to his bosses, it wouldn't take long for a solo player like Eric to be unable to survive in Divine Realms: Legends. He'd eventually have to give up the Epic Level item that could use flames.
"Hell? Been there, done that, countless times. One more trip won't matter," Eric shrugged and grinned.
With the Frost Azure Flame and his current combat power, he wasn't scared of any player. If they wanted to hunt him down, he'd just play guerrilla warfare. He leveled up fast and could outlast them. He didn't think any guild or force could afford to waste so much manpower and resources on him in Willowbrook Town.
After saying this, Eric hung up the call.
"Eric, did something happen?" Tonny asked, picking up on Eric's anger from the conversation.
"Nothing, just someone trying to mess with me," Eric shook his head, brushing off The Stygian Alliance as mere bullies. "Let's focus on getting info from the NPCs."
Tonny nodded.
Eric played it cool, but Tonny knew it wasn't as simple as Eric made it out to be. He secretly hated himself for being weak. If he were stronger, maybe he could help Eric.
It wasn't just Tonny; Ezio felt the same way.
"We gotta step up our game and get stronger. No way we're dragging Eric down anymore," they both said, almost in sync.
Suddenly, they felt a burning need to level up their skills.
Meanwhile, on Sutharos's end, after Eric hung up, he immediately called the higher-ups of The Stygian Alliance.
"Sutharos, what's the status on that Epic Level item?"
"Mr. Potter, I've tried everything, but Kai Blackthorn still won't budge. He even mocked us, saying we should come at him if we dare."
"Interesting. No wonder Isabella's got her eye on him. It's been a while since someone had the guts to be this cocky. Since he turned down our offer, let's make him vanish from Divine Realms: Legends. You have my permission to use all of The Stygian Alliance's resources in Silvervale City. Get that item, ASAP."
"Got it. I'll handle it."
After the call, Sutharos exhaled deeply. The tone of that Lord was definitely pissed. Otherwise, he wouldn't have given the green light to mobilize all of Silvervale City's forces against one guy.
'Kai Blackthorn, let's see how long you can keep that smug look. You're about to find out what real hell is,' Sutharos thought, seething at Eric's arrogance. But the idea of commanding all of The Stygian Alliance's power in Silvercrest Dominion also got him pumped.
Even though The Stygian Alliance had fewer members, each one was top-tier. Some were even high-ranking members of major guilds. Concentrating all of Silvercrest Dominion's forces would make them stronger than a typical third-rate guild in Silvervale City. The thought of wielding such power thrilled Sutharos.
Plus, most members of The Stygian Alliance were players who thrived in the shadows and loved PvP. They were the best at dealing with solo players like Eric.
While Sutharos was scheming, Eric was chatting with NPC Faust, though it was mostly one-sided.
Eric knew Faust was a quirky old dude.
Despite his quirks, Faust was a legend, known as the Master of Elements. In his youth, he had slain a powerful dragon and sealed Zach, the Grand Sorcerer, a demon lord on par with a fifth-tier human profession. He had also mentored the emperor of Shadowdrake Dominion. Rumor had it that Faust had even fought gods and lived to tell the tale. At a hundred years old, he started wandering around Divine Realms: Legends, and now, Faust was over three hundred.
Eric couldn't really gauge Faust's current strength, but it was definitely off the charts.
So, getting Faust to talk wasn't easy. First, you had to be strong enough to catch his eye. Second, you needed to bring him some tasty food.
Only by meeting these two criteria would Faust give players a rare quest, "Delicious Goldenfin Wyrm." Completing this quest would yield some sweet rewards.
To show off enough strength to Faust was actually pretty straightforward: deal over a hundred points of damage to a Goldenfin Wyrm. But for players around level ten, hitting that hard was tough. They'd need to be around level twenty, decked out in a full set of Bronze Level gear and wielding a Dark Iron Weapon. Plus, before showing off their strength, they had to talk to Faust. Even though Faust seemed to ignore players, he was secretly paying attention.
Just as Eric finished talking, he was about to have Tonny and Ezio chat with Faust too. But the two of them ended up cursing Faust, which, in a weird way, also got Faust's attention...
