Chapter 90 Aether Wing Studios
Seeing Eric walk in, he asked, "Who are you?"
Will was initially taken aback and gave Eric a once-over. Eric was dressed in a cheap blue and white tracksuit. Although Eric's demeanor sent a chill down his spine, Will noticed that Eric didn't even have a smart wristwatch. This made Will look at him with disdain. Nowadays, even slightly wealthy students wore smartwatches. Will deduced that Eric did not come from an affluent family, likely in a similar situation to Tonny.
"Eric, why are you here?" Tonny looked a bit nervous, worried that Eric might misunderstand his intentions of switching teams. "Eric, I didn't contact ShadowForge Studios. I turned them down, but Will keeps pestering me."
Tonny's classmates were puzzled by his nervous explanation. Who was this person that walked into their dorm?
After all, Tonny had reached level 5 in Divine Realms: Legends, making him a top player. Many studios would likely compete to recruit him, treating him as a VIP. Even ShadowForge Studios had sent someone to persuade him to join. If ShadowForge Studios' higher-ups met Tonny, they would probably be very polite and respectful.
However, this unfamiliar individual, referred to as Eric by Tonny, left them pondering. Could he be some famous person at the school? Yet, they couldn't recall anyone like that at the university.
"I know." Eric gave Tonny a reassuring look, then turned to the guy named Will, and smiled, "My name is Eric, and I'm the one who founded the studio you're talking about. You want to know the name of our studio, don't you?"
"I can tell you. It's called Aether Wing Studios. If you have nothing else to discuss, please leave. And when you go back, tell your boss to stop trying to poach members from other studios. Focus on managing your own territory, or one day it might all fall apart without you even realizing it."
Hearing Eric's words, Will couldn't help but sneer and burst into laughter.
"Seriously, it seems like everyone believes they can establish a studio nowadays. Have you even considered your own capabilities? Do you think starting a studio is that easy? Don't make me laugh." Will squinted his eyes and mocked, "Do you even know how big ShadowForge Studios is? Do you know how many people we have? Do you know who backs us? Do you know how much we've invested? We don't need to poach members from your insignificant studio."
"Just by looking at your trial helmets, I can tell you don't have a substantial amount of money. Do you think you can make a living in Divine Realms: Legends with just passion? Nowadays, no studio can survive in Divine Realms: Legends without investing millions. You have no money, no people, no equipment, not even basic security. What makes you think you can compare with ShadowForge Studios?"
"Kneel before me now, and perhaps I could persuade Jason to invest a tidy sum of 20,000 credits in your studio. Such opportunities are rare for you." Will laughed arrogantly, then turned his gaze to Tonny and sneered, "ShadowForge Studios sent me to recruit you, showing a great deal of respect towards yo. If you join, you'll be a core member with a minimum monthly income of 5000. It's a hundred times better than staying in a studio struggling to make ends meet."
Tonny's roommates were shocked by this offer. They didn't expect playing Divine Realms: Legends to be so lucrative. The income was much higher than that of many urban white-collar workers. Their attitude towards Tonny changed from disdain to envy and jealousy.
With a few months remaining before graduation, they were anxious about securing jobs, whereas Tonny had individuals approaching him with offers of a minimum monthly salary of five thousand. It was infuriating...
They wished they had spent more time playing games and tried Divine Realms: Legends. Maybe they could have become top players. Instead, they wasted their college years chasing girls who didn't even like them. If they made money, wouldn't they be able to choose any girl they wanted?
However, Tonny just smiled. Will dared to mock Eric's studio and belittle Eric, even asking him to kneel to join ShadowForge Studios. What an idiot. Eric was someone even Ice Goddess wanted to recruit.
Who was Ice Goddess?
She was the Vice President of the top guild Devouring Serpents, a recognized goddess in the virtual gaming world. ShadowForge Studios couldn't compare to Devouring Serpents.
Tonny had long been annoyed with Will and mockingly said, "Will, no matter what you say, I won't change my mind. Although Aether Wing Studios is just starting, I firmly believe that its future accomplishments will surpass those of ShadowForge Studios. I advise you to leave ShadowForge Studios early and join Aether Wing Studios. Then, I'll ask Eric to give you a chance. If you kneel and apologize, you might become a member of Aether Wing Studios."
Hearing Tonny's words, the roommates were stunned, unable to figure out which studio was better.
Could it be that in today's world, the studios that couldn't afford proper helmets were the top choice?
"You're simply unreasonable." Will was so angry he could barely speak. Tonny was using his own words to mock him. If Lucas hadn't instructed him to recruit Tonny at all costs, he would have left long ago. But Tonny seemed to have lost his mind, giving up a great future to stay in some dump. "Tonny, I'm just trying to give you a heads-up because I value talent. ShadowForge Studios is currently merging with Hungry Wolf Studio, ranked 45th in Evergreen City. Once that's done, ShadowForge Studios will be a top name in Evergreen City. If you let this opportunity slip away, there won't be another one."
Will glanced at Eric and sneered, "And your studio can't even afford proper helmets. and how will you continue playing Divine Realms: Legends? Why not join me at ShadowForge Studios? A promising future awaits you."
Such blatant poaching would anger anyone, even someone as patient as Eric. He usually didn't bother with ShadowForge Studios, but now they were pushing his buttons.
If a battle was inevitable, then so be it!
"Who said our studio can't afford proper helmets?" Eric pulled out 20,000 credits from his pocket and casually tossed them on the table. "I decided to start the studio suddenly and hadn't chosen which helmets to buy, so we used trial helmets temporarily. Today, I'm here to give Tonny money for a high-end helmet."
"Not to criticize ShadowForge Studios, but you're pretty stingy when poaching people. I'm offering Tonny a minimum monthly salary of twenty thousand. With all your wealth and investment, you only offer five thousand?"
Tonny looked at the pile of credits on the desk in disbelief. No one knew Eric's situation better than he did. How did Eric suddenly come up with two thousand credits? Did he rob a bank?
The roommates swallowed hard at the sight of the scattered credits.
Tonny usually kept a low profile, but it turned out he was making twenty thousand a month-no wonder he didn't want to join ShadowForge Studios. ShadowForge Studios offered five thousand, which was four times less. Even an idiot would know which side to choose.
They were even more shocked to realize that Eric, dressed in cheap sportswear, was actually wealthy. It was hard for them to believe.
