Chapter 158 The Last Dance

"Ezio, pinch me," Tonny muttered, eyes locked on the crippled Goldenfin Wyrm.

Ezio, still in shock, just shook his head like a robot.

Sure, the Goldenfin Wyrm's health bar was dropping fast, but what really blew Ezio's mind was Eric's dart-throwing skills. It was like watching a magic trick—his hands moved so fast you could barely see them. Each flick of his wrist sent out more than ten Frostshadow Essences, each one hitting its target perfectly.

And the accuracy! Every dart hit the Goldenfin Wyrm's weak spot dead-on. Ezio knew he'd struggle to even hit the thing once, let alone keep up that kind of relentless, pinpoint attack.

"If I could ever get that good..." Ezio whispered, totally awestruck.

"Snap out of it, you two! We need to bag this thing before it recovers!" Eric's voice snapped them back to reality.

Jolted awake, Tonny and Ezio scrambled to throw their magic nets, trapping the crippled Goldenfin Wyrm.

One... two... three...

In just thirty seconds, Eric had taken down three Goldenfin Wyrms. Even Faust was left speechless, a flicker of envy crossing his face.

But once the initial burst of damage, curses, and Duskblade Furydance wore off, they had to slow down. They needed to wait for their cooldowns to reset before they could go all out again.

Still, they were averaging five captured Goldenfin Wyrms per minute.

At this rate, they'd have three hundred in an hour. In less than four hours, they'd hit their goal of capturing a thousand.

Time flew by.

Before they knew it, four hours had passed.

"We're rich, Ezio! How many have you caught?" Tonny shouted, practically bouncing with excitement.

"Six hundred and eighteen. You?"

"Six hundred and forty-five! That's... twelve hundred and sixty-three! We've already hit the target for the Epic Level item shards!"

"Don't stop now, Captain! We might have enough time to get some Obsidian Level items too!"

Tonny and Ezio were utterly engrossed in their catch, and seeing the number of Goldenfin Wyrms in their bags steadily increase, they couldn't suppress their wide grins.

The only downside? They weren't getting any experience points or skill proficiency from this method. If they were killing these Level 20 special elites normally, they'd have leveled up several times by now.

But Eric didn't care. Tonny and Ezio didn't yet understand the true value of the Epic Level item shards they were collecting. These were super rare, the kind of stuff most players wouldn't even see for a long time. Spending a few hours, or even a day or two, to get the Divine Breath of the Celestial Dragon was totally worth it.

An Epic Level item shard would be a game-changer, a huge boost in power. With such an item, they'd be a force to be reckoned with, able to stand up to even the most experienced players.

In the world of Divine Realms: Legends, strength was everything. People flocked to those who could offer them power, protection, and a shot at greater glory.

Eric's dream was to build a virtual empire, and that meant he needed a strong foundation. He had to establish himself as a force to be reckoned with, someone who could attract and keep loyal followers.

In the early stages of the game, small studios like theirs were at a disadvantage compared to the big guilds. Divine Realms: Legends was full of high-level Wilderness Bosses that dropped valuable loot, including Obsidian Level items. And if they were lucky, they might even run into a Wilderness Lord Monstrosity.Lord Monstrosities were beasts of legend, and taking one down meant legendary rewards. They had a high chance of dropping Epic Level items, treasures that could skyrocket a guild to the top. These items didn't just pack a punch; they were like magnets, drawing in skilled players who wanted to be part of something big.

Big guilds could throw their numbers at even the toughest bosses, sacrificing manpower for a shot at these prized items. It was a costly move, but it paid off in the long run. Smaller guilds and studios just didn't have the resources for that kind of strategy, which only made the gap between them and the big players even wider.

Sure, a studio could grow in size pretty quickly, but building a strong core, a sense of unity and shared purpose, took time and effort. You needed solid leadership, good perks, and a clear vision for the future. Without those, members would jump ship the moment something better came along.

Guilds like Martial Alliance, Assassin's Alliance, and Devouring Serpents had all built strong foundations, led by famous players with loyal followings. When they jumped into a new game, their existing setup and reputation let them hit the ground running, scooping up new players and expanding fast.

New guilds like ShadowForge Studios, though, had to start from scratch. Their leadership was untested, their perks were still being worked out, and they didn't have the rep to attract a lot of players without risking chaos.

Eric's plan was to focus on quality over quantity. He wanted to build a strong core team first, a group of skilled and dedicated players who shared his vision. Once they had a solid base, they could slowly expand, drawing in new members with the promise of power, stability, and a bright future. He wasn't going to let ShadowForge Studios be just another flash in the pan, looking strong on the outside but falling apart inside.

To build that strong core, he needed to lead by example. He had to show them he wasn't just another player, but a force to be reckoned with. He needed to inspire them, give them something to believe in.

The Epic Level item shards were a step towards that goal.

"It's time. Let's finish this."

After four hours of non-stop fighting, Eric was wiped out, both physically and mentally. Were it not for the allure of the Epic Level item fragment, he would have long since succumbed to sleep.

Subsequently, Eric retrieved all the Frostbite Grenades and every Tier 1 magic scrolls from his backpack, distributing them to Tonny and Ezio.

"These are valuable. Don't waste them," he said, his voice serious.

"Don't worry, Eric. I'm a Sorcerer; using these scrolls is like breathing for me."

"You can count on me, Captain."

Tonny and Ezio got the message. The Frostbite Grenades were one thing, but the sheer number of Tier 1 magic scrolls represented a small fortune. Wasting them wasn't an option.

"Focus your attacks on that group over there," Eric ordered, tossing a mid-level Frostbite Grenade into the heart of the targeted Goldenfin Wyrm school.

The grenade exploded, sending out a wave of freezing energy. Before the stunned Goldenfin Wyrms could recover, Eric hit them with Thunderbolt, boosting the damage and adding a curse. He followed up with a fire-type Tier 1 magic scroll, roasting his targets.

Tonny and Ezio followed his lead, unleashing a storm of Frostbite Grenades and Tier 1 magic scrolls.

Explosions rocked the area, waves of fire and ice crashing into each other. The Goldenfin Wyrms didn't stand a chance, their health bars dropping even faster than before.

Even Faust, watching from a distance, couldn't help but wipe the sweat from his brow.

"These kids… they're going to bankrupt me at this rate."
