Chapter 250 Serious Inquiries Only
"No way?" Katherine's eyes flashed with anger. "Heath, this is your mistake. You have to find a solution."
Bob stepped in to mediate, speaking softly, "Katherine, you know this is just a minor error. It must be a system glitch. You can't blame Heath for this."
"But what about Eric? Since you already know where the problem is, can Eric go in now?" Katherine ignored Bob and questioned Heath, "You can prove that Eric did register, and he's a student here. Isn't that enough?"
"Katherine, I can indeed prove that Eric registered, but whether he can enter or not isn't up to me as the student council president. You need to ask the Security Chief." Heath shifted his gaze to the Security Chief, instantly passing the responsibility, as if the matter had nothing to do with him, showing a bitter smile.
However, the Security Chief's mouth twitched slightly.
This was clearly Heath's fault for not registering Eric, yet he was pushing the issue onto him. If Heath insisted on letting Eric in, what could he, a mere Security Chief, do?
The message was clear.
No entry. That was Heath's answer.
But Katherine didn't seem easy to deal with either. Otherwise, why would Heath make so many excuses?
The Security Chief was caught in a dilemma, unsure of what to do.
Katherine's angry gaze shifted to the Security Chief, and she said sternly, "What's your decision?"
"Me?" Even the battle-hardened Security Chief hesitated for a moment but then said firmly, "It's my duty, miss. Please don't make it difficult for me."
"You!"
"Katherine, it's okay. If I can't go in, I am okay with that."
Eric pulled the furious Katherine aside, glancing at Heath and the others with a smile. These people were really good at messing up with him.
"At least Eric is kind enough. This was truly an accident. I promise it won't happen again," Heath said with a cold smile.
"Yeah, it won't happen again next time," David laughed.
"Katherine, let's go. Ken is probably getting impatient," Bob said, giving Eric a disdainful look and then turning to Katherine.
"Why would Ken be here?" Katherine was clearly surprised, but then she had a sudden realization. "Right, Ken is one of the sponsors of this event. He should be able to help."
"Eric, wait here. I'll get Ken. He'll definitely get you in."
Eric nodded, watching Katherine rush into the restaurant. In that moment, he saw Bob give him a cold smile.
This made Eric feel uneasy.
"Eric, you should just go home. This event isn't for you," Heath said mockingly once Katherine was gone. He then turned to the Security Chief, "Make sure he doesn't step inside the building, or you're fired."
"I understand."
With that, Heath and the others laughed and entered the restaurant, while the Security Chief kept a close eye on Eric, ready to personally throw him out if he got too close.
But Eric wasn't angry; he was unusually calm.
"If I can't go in, it's fine by me. I don't necessarily need to be inside to get things done," Eric said with a slight smile, turning to leave.
The Golden Coast Gala was a rare opportunity to recruit new members. Missing it would waste him a long time for another chance.
ShadowForge Studios, a small guild, survived in Divine Realms: Legends mainly because of its dedicated members who endured the toughest early stages. Without them, ShadowForge Studios would have been swallowed by larger guilds.
Although Aether Wing had already gained Rosewater, an unexpectedly A-game player, and a group of elites, a guild could never have enough strong players and elites.
Since he couldn't recruit inside, he'd do it outside.
Eric found a nearby print shop and set up a large sign near the event venue.
"Aether Wing Guild Recruiting. Serious inquiries only!"
Though the sign was plain and a bit shabby, the message was clear. As for whether people would recognize it, Eric wasn't worried at all. Aether Wing was not only famous in Silvervale City but also gaining recognition throughout Eldoria. On Eldoria's official website, Aether Wing was already well-known.
A guild with eight players dominating the leaderboard, with levels beyond anyone's imagination.
The lowest level was 18, a level that was among the top eight in all of Eldoria. Such a guild was enviable even to top-tier guilds.
How could anyone ignore the opportunity to join such a guild?
Many solo players wanted to join Aether Wing. Thousands of messages on the official website expressed the desire to join, but Aether Wing only recruited in Silvervale City, with no branches in other cities, making it hard for many to get in.
It didn't take long for the sign to attract attention.
"ScurryScraper, look at that sign. Aether Wing is recruiting."
"Aether Wing Guild? No way! That guild is so mysterious. I heard their top eight players are much stronger than the top players of many top-tier guilds. If Aether Wing is really recruiting, I'd be the first to sign up."
People passing by started discussing the sign. After all, Aether Wing was now synonymous with mystery and power.
Meanwhile, in a lounge on the tenth floor of the event venue, a well-dressed man in his fifties, with sharp eyes that could pierce through a person, was sitting.
"Ken, what brings you here?" Katherine asked sweetly as she entered the room.
Ken was Katherine's uncle on her father's side and a major shareholder of the Carey Group. He had no children and treated Katherine like his own daughter, cherishing her dearly.
"Of course, I came to see you. You've been at school all the time and haven't come home to visit us," Ken said indulgently.
"Ken, you're a sponsor of this event. I have a friend who wants to join. Can you let him in?" Katherine asked sweetly, shaking Ken's arm.
"Are you talking about Eric?" Ken's brow furrowed, and his face darkened.
"Ken, how do you know?" Katherine asked, puzzled.
"I instructed my people not to let him in. He's just an ordinary person from an ordinary family. You shouldn't be associating with someone like him. You're the heir to the Carey Group, one of society's elite. Being with someone like him will only invite gossip."
"I know people like Eric all too well. He's ambitious and will stop at nothing to get ahead. He'll say anything to get what he wants. He doesn't love you; he's just after the Carey Group's wealth. I can't let you be fooled any longer. I'll personally talk to Eric."
