Chapter 23 Tyrant Bear
Dozens of level 1 players flocked over, infusing an air of liveliness into Eric's team.
"This person is truly peculiar. He's so desperate to do the dungeon that he's even willing to take on level 1 new players. Doesn't he know that a level 2 elite team from Silent Grove Dungeon has already failed?"
"Who cares? They are just newbie players. Their way of thinking is something we can't understand."
Regarding Eric's actions, the level 2 players lined up in a queue began to mock him, eager to see Eric's failure.
"That guy is really interesting. Even I don't have much confidence in passing Silent Grove Dungeon. Yet he managed to gather a group of level 1 players to attempt it." Scarlet looked at Eric, a slight smirk playing on her lips, her tone laced with mockery and disdain.
Isabella also glanced at Eric in the distance. Despite his strange behavior, Eric exuded calmness and confidence, seemingly impervious to the ridicule he endured. His demeanor was mature, similar to some of the top players Isabella had encountered in Divine Realms: Legends. However, she couldn't fathom where Eric's confidence stemmed from. Silent Grove Dungeon, as the first dungeon in Willowbrook Town and the first encounter with a Divine Realms: Legends dungeon for everyone, held unknown challenges. Even elite guild teams would be cautious in selecting members. Yet Eric seemed unconcerned as if all he needed was a group of six.
"Maybe I'm overthinking it. He's just a level 1 player; how could he possibly pass Silent Grove Dungeon?" Isabella brushed her hair lightly, pushing thoughts of Eric's odd behavior aside, and focused on the player data displayed in her hands. "Level 2 Summoner, magical damage 28, HP 150, Defense 8, Movement Speed 4, inadequate, next one."
Next, a sorcerer stepped forward and shared their attributes with Ice Goddess Isabella. On the other side, Eric was also examining player data.
While he had no lower limit, he did have standards.
The level 1 players here were far behind Isbella's team in terms of equipment and level.
However, they were still players. As long as they didn't randomly allocate their eight attribute points in the early stages and formed a team of 6, the likelihood of passing Silent Grove Dungeon was high.
As for those Shield Warriors and Guardian Knights who focused solely on strength and weapon professions that neglected agility, Eric dismissed them all.
"Hey, could you please include me in your team? Although I'm a level 1 Guardian Knight, I have a 0-level Common Level equipment, with all 8 of my free attributes available to allocate as per your requirements." pleaded a young man named Cola, his eyes filled with hope. Eric was slightly surprised. A Guardian Knight who hadn't allocated any accessible attributes and still managed to reach level 1 was a rare find. Guardian Knights had low attack power and found it difficult to kill monsters; usually, they relied on team efforts for efficiency and would allocate a few points to strength for faster leveling.
Guardian Knight Cola?
"Cola." Eric looked at Cola's face, his tall stature and well-built muscles triggering a sense of familiarity. Suddenly, he fell into contemplation, feeling like he had seen this person before.
Yes, it was Tyrant Bear!
Eric remembered—Tyrant Bear's name was Cola. Tyrant Bear was the main MT of the top-tier guild Brilliant Constellations in the early days of Divine Realms: Legends. Initially struggling, he was ousted by the third-rate guild Crown of Paradise before joining Brilliant Constellations, where he shone brightly. From a regular team's MT, he became the main elite group's MT, ranked fifteenth among Guardian Knights in the Eldoria Kingdom for his ability to tank and deal damage. Unexpectedly, Tyrant Bear had come on his own, shy and different from the Tyrant Bear of ten years later.
Eric had an idea.
Tyrant Bear hadn't joined Crown of Paradise yet, let alone Brilliant Constellations. If he could recruit him and make Cola his MT, future dungeon runs would be a breeze.
"Hey, I promise to follow your orders in the dungeon. Please reconsider," Cola pleaded. Eric almost chuckled. The renowned Tyrant Bear was being so humble just for a dungeon spot. Nonetheless, he held back.
The level 1 players here were banking on luck. Even other teams couldn't handle Silent Grove Dungeon, let alone these level-1 players. If they managed to complete the dungeon and acquire a few pieces of equipment, it would significantly boost their future prospects and make joining a major guild easier.
"Alright, I can include you," Eric's tone turned serious. "But you need to understand that taking a level 1 newbie like you through Silent Grove Dungeon won't be easy. I can't have you take the loot and run off to join another elite team after we clear the dungeon."After Eric's words, many level 1 players shot him disdainful glances. Weren't you a level 1 newbie player?
Eric paid no mind to their feelings and continued, "I aim to build a stable team here. Even if I need more people, stability comes first. If you want to do the dungeon, you must be prepared for the long term. When I call you for a dungeon run, you must come, no excuses. What do you say?"
Upon hearing Eric's words, everyone fell silent.
Eric's intention was clear. If they wanted to join the team, they couldn't join other teams or guilds in the future.
Everyone knew that joining a guild was the best way for players to quickly enhance their strength.
Currently, they weren't qualified to join those top guilds, so they were taking a chance, hoping to acquire a few pieces of equipment that might help them enter. Why would they sacrifice the opportunity to join a good guild in the future just for one dungeon?
Cola was taken aback by Eric's request. It was strict but reasonable. You couldn't expect someone to invest in your growth only for you to leave as soon as you improve. However, Eric's words lacked a certain persuasiveness.
At that moment, Tonny stepped forward, his anger palpable. "Just because of you newbies, no one wants to do the dungeon now, yet you still hope to join a good guild for benefits in the future. Do you really think you're expert, or do you see us as stepping stones?" Hesitant, Cola felt that Tonny had a point. Even this level 2 expert with three Bronze Equipment was on this team; what right did a newbie player like him have to complain about?
"Thank you for your guidance, expert. I will do my best at my job," Cola thanked Tonny quickly.
Being thanked by Cola and called an expert made Tonny somewhat uncomfortable. He was a complete impostor as an expert, but being addressed as such made him more determined to become a true Divine Realms: Legends expert.
"Tonny, well done!" Eric praised quietly, giving a thumbs-up.
Unexpectedly, Tyrant Bear had been tamed by Tonny, and he even respectfully called Tonny "expert".
Tonny was confused; he didn't understand what he had done to deserve such praise from Eric. Nonetheless, he was happy. At least he had done something for Eric, even if he didn't know what it was.
After more than ten minutes, Eric finally assembled a team of 6 and was ready to commence the dungeon.
