Chapter 388 Dragon Flame Dance
Eric took a step back, trying to escape the icy domain.
He hadn't expected Doron to be so smart, exploiting the player's weaknesses.
While NPCs like this were common in the later stages of Divine Realms: Legends, they were rare early on. Usually, only third-tier NPCs had this level of intelligence, but Doron was just a first-tier NPC.
"With this level of intelligence, I don't stand a chance," Eric thought, his face serious as Doron charged at him.
If Doron were just an ordinary first-tier NPC, even with 300,000 health points, Eric would be confident in defeating him.
Before leaving Silvervale City, Eric had stocked up on over a hundred second-tier magic scrolls from the guild's warehouse, many of which were looted from the Blood Hand Society's base or dropped in team dungeons.
Unlike the Twelve Trials, where items couldn't be used, the Source Sword Realm allowed the use of magic scrolls freely.
Using over a hundred second-tier magic scrolls against a level 30 first-tier NPC should have been easy.
Even with Doron's 300,000 health points, it wasn't impossible to win.
But this was different.
Eric, who had often fought high-tier NPCs in his previous life, knew that intelligent NPCs were highly alert to magic scrolls. They would either dodge or interrupt the casting, giving players no chance to use them.
As Doron closed in, Eric swung his Abyssal Blade, aiming at Doron and activating Abyssal Bind.
Nine dark chains emerged from the ground, but Doron snorted, plunging his silver greatsword into the ground. A golden magic circle enveloped him, emitting a faint golden glow. The dark chains disintegrated upon contact with the glow.
Eric recognized the golden glow immediately.
The skill, Free Will, made the user immune to all control and restriction effects, rendering Abyssal Bind useless.
Gritting his teeth, Eric activated Leap, boosting his speed by 150% and allowing him to fly, escaping Doron's icy domain.
Though Eric could fly, the entire battle platform was enclosed by a massive magic barrier. Even if he tried to escape, he wouldn't get far. Once the 20 seconds of flight ended, Doron would catch up.
This couldn't go on; it was only a matter of time before he died.
Seconds ticked by as Doron relentlessly pursued Eric. As a Magic Knight, Doron had immense destructive power and a clear advantage in direct combat, but lacked survival and control skills. Eric's speed left him frustrated and hopping mad.
In the icy domain, Doron could have finished Eric in a few moves, but Eric was as elusive as a rabbit, with top-notch evasion skills.
"Let's see how long you can fly. Once you land, you're toast!" Doron sneered, eyes fixed on Eric in the sky.
Eric, meanwhile, observed quietly.
In Divine Realms: Legends, staying calm in desperate situations was key to survival.
A zero-tier player against an intelligent first-tier Magic Knight with 300,000 health points seemed like a sure loss. Anyone else would have been dead by now.
But Eric knew that since this was a legacy trial, there had to be a glimmer of hope.
But where was it?
The entire platform was a flat, 100x100-yard area, covered in black stone slabs with strange markings. Some slabs formed a Sorcery marking Eric had never seen before. Other than that, the platform was empty.
"Could the hope lie in these Sorcery markings?"
Eric had some knowledge of Sorcery markings, but these puzzled him. He didn't know their purpose.
As his flight time ended, Eric landed, and Doron charged.
Eric quickly activated Infernal Fury, leaping high with his Abyssal Blade ablaze with golden lightning, aiming at Doron's face. The surrounding space seemed to freeze, slowing Doron's movements.
The first-tier Inferno Thunderstorm not only increased attack range and power but also stunned for 6 seconds and slowed enemies within a 10x10-yard area to one-sixth of their speed, gradually restoring it.
Doron snorted, activating Free Will again to negate the slow effect, and countered with Flame Cross Slash.
The clash erupted in sparks, shattering the ground.
Eric was thrown several yards, landing heavily. His body went numb, and his health plummeted to below 1,000, still dropping.
Panicking, Eric pulled a mid-level Restorative potion from his bag and drank it, halting the health decline and slowly recovering to over 1,100 points.
Despite both being first-tier skills, Inferno Thunderstorm was powerful, but the collision with Doron's Flame Cross Slash had nearly killed him.
Eric's body was numb, barely able to move, making it impossible to counter Doron's next attack.
But something strange happened. Doron, who should have attacked immediately, stood still.
"What's going on?" Eric wondered.
Doron glared at him with killing intent but didn't move, just watching.
"Wait, his armor."
Eric noticed cracks in Doron's black armor, slowly mending.
"Did my attack damage his armor?"
Uncertain, Eric wanted to test it again.
Struggling to move, Eric pulled a second-tier magic scroll, Dragon Flame Dance, from his bag.
