Chapter 217 Serena Rainfall

In front of the towering gates of the Silvervale City library.

Apart from a large number of NPCs coming and going, many players were gathering at the entrance. They were not qualified to enter the library so theywere trying to cozy up to the NPCs, increasing their intimacy levels in hopes of being taken inside.

Some attractive female players even resorted to various means to charm the noble NPCs.

And all these actions were taken by spellcasting class players, such as Elementalists, Sorcerers, and Summoners.

Why did these players want to enter the library?

Because they wanted to learn powerful skills. Besides monster drops and dungeon loot, some advanced skills commonly used by spellcasting classes could be learned in the library. Healing classes went to the Radiant Temple to learn, unlike other physical classes that uniformly went to the Celestial Citadel to find their class mentors.

This was mentioned in Eric's Silvervale City guide, which was why they came. After all, compared to weapons and equipment, skill improvement was easier.

As long as players could learn these advanced skills, their strength would see a significant boost. However, the cost of learning was not cheap, and it required a series of tasks, which was very time-consuming. Therefore, Eric had never gone to learn because the skills he was currently learning were not inferior to those advanced class skills, so he didn't need to waste time.

As Eric walked towards the library gate, some players watched coldly, smirking.

"Look, another newbie daring to go in recklessly."

"How many people has it been now?"

"Just wait and see how he gets kicked out by the guards."

Most of them had been kicked out by the guards because they didn't have a pass. Those without a pass would be expelled by the guards, at best kicked out, at worst locked up, but only those troublemaking players would receive such treatment.

Just as Eric was about to reach the tightly locked iron gate, a female Elementalist player stopped him.

"Without a library pass, the guards will kick players out. You'd better not approach them," the female player kindly reminded him.

Eric knew this, but since she meant well, he turned to look at the female player who had stopped him.

He suddenly realized that this female player was very beautiful. Among female Elementalists, only the Crimson Flame Sorceress Scarlet could surpass her. She was also fully equipped with Dark Iron Equipment, although all below level 10, which was still quite rare because she was a solo player, making it much harder to obtain equipment compared to guild players.

However, seeing this female player, Eric felt a strange sense of familiarity but couldn't recall where he had seen her before. He then used Insightful Gaze to check her name.

SerenaRainfall.

Eric had no memory of this ID. He was sure there was no female expert by this name in his previous life. Since she wasn't an expert, where did this sense of familiarity come from?

Eric shook his head. If he couldn't figure it out, he might as well let it go. It could be a memory illusion caused by his rebirth.

"Thank you," Eric said gratefully.

SerenaRainfall smiled slightly, realizing that Eric knew how to express gratitude, proving he was a decent person. She then pointed to the noble NPCs surrounded by players not far away and said softly, "You seem nice. If you want to enter the library, it's best to get a pass first or cozy up to those noble NPCs. They have passes."

"SerenaRainfall, are you also trying to enter the library?" Eric asked.

"But those noble NPCs are too sleazy, so I was thinking of going elsewhere to get a pass," SerenaRainfall nodded but showed a look of disgust when mentioning the greasy noble NPCs.

"In that case, why don't you come in with me?" Eric said, with an intention to thank SerenaRainfall for her kind reminder.

"Go in?" SerenaRainfall asked in slight surprise, "Do you have a pass?"

"No," Eric shook his head and explained with a smile, "But I have other ways to get in."

"Impossible. The guards here only recognize passes or library staff," SerenaRainfall looked skeptical, as if saying he was lying.

Eric smiled without explaining and walked towards the library's iron gate. SerenaRainfall didn't have time to stop him before the guards noticed Eric.

The players watching from a distance laughed.

"This newbie wants to show off in front of a beauty. Just wait and see how he gets kicked out by the guards."

"With his build, I bet he'll be kicked 30 feet away. If he causes a scene, he might even get hung up at the gate."

"No way, last time that tall Berserker was kicked 30 feet away. I bet he'll be kicked 15 yards away."

As the players' faces filled with ridicule, the guards approached.

"Stop!" A burly guard suddenly blocked Eric with his weapon and said coldly, "You need a pass to enter the library."

"Isn't being Demonbane enough?" Eric changed his title to Demonbane and asked again.

"Oh,Lord Demonbane. Sorry. Please forgive my rudeness." With that, the guard immediately put away his spear and showed great respect, even more than when meeting the nobles of Silvervale City.

This left the players watching in stunned silence, their mouths agape.

They had tried everything to get a pass from the nobles, but this newbie made the guard almost kneel with just one sentence.

Could this be a secret code or a password?

Eric nodded to the guard and then pointed to SerenaRainfall, saying, "She's my friend but doesn't have a pass. Can she come in with me? I can vouch for her."

"Of course, since she's a friend of Lord Demonbane, she can enter." the guard looked at SerenaRainfall, a stunning beauty, then at Eric with a knowing look, and quickly said, "Also, here's a library membership badge, which will allow your friends to enter the library freely in the future."

The guard respectfully handed the library badge to Eric.

Eric was slightly surprised. He didn't expect the NPC guards to become so smart after just one evolution of the Divine RealmsLegends System.

Eric accepted it without hesitation. A pass could only be used once, meaning one entry and exit from the library but learning skills couldn't be done in one go. However, with the library membership badge, players were allowed to enter and exit the library freely without any restrictions. This was a privilege originally reserved for the great nobles of Silvervale City. Eric hadn't expected that Demonbane had it too.

"SerenaRainfall, keep this library membership badge. In the future, you can enter and exit the library freely by wearing this badge, and the guards won't stop you," Eric said, handing the badge to the still-dazed SerenaRainfall.

Then the two entered the library under the watchful eyes of the players.

Some players were stunned by this turn of events, and some female players looked at SerenaRainfall with envy.

The players who had mocked Eric earlier now rushed to the library gate.

"Stop!" The guard blocked everyone and said coldly, "You need a pass to enter the library."

"Isn't being Demonbane enough?" These players repeated what Eric had said, secretly praising themselves for being so clever.

"How dare you impersonate Lord Demonbane," the guard scanned the crowd, not seeing the Demonbane title, and became furious.

As a result, these clever players all ended up being locked up.
