Chapter 350 Sword in the Stone
Eric had just landed the final blow, but before he could even think about celebrating, he felt hostility closing in from all sides.
Even though Eric was hidden under a black cape, the system announcement had given him away.
Eldoria Region System Announcement: Congrats to player BlackFlame for being the first to kill an anomaly. Reward: 50 Eldoria reputation points, 30 free mastery points, and 30 gold coins.
Silvercrest Dominion System Announcement: Player BlackFlame has killed the Mechanical Slaughterer invading Silvervale City. Reward: 200 Silvervale City reputation points, 10,000 Silvervale City merit points, and 20 gold coins.
These announcements echoed three times, making sure everyone knew.
The player in the black cape, glowing with golden light, who took down the Mechanical Slaughterer, was none other than BlackFlame, the president of the Guild of Aether Wing.
Eric not only gained a ton of experience points but also scored some sweet rewards, which naturally made other players green with envy.
"Man, he's something else, landing the final blow in the middle of the fight between Wiseman and the Mechanical Slaughterer," RedFeather thought, comparing himself to Eric and realizing he might not have timed the kill as perfectly.
"BlackFlame's good, but he's not making it onto the Heavenly Secret Pavilion's expert list. No matter how skilled he is, he's still way behind you, RedFeather. You're ranked in the top 900," Hatty said with a grin.
The Heavenly Secret Pavilion's expert list includes the top 1008 players in Divine Realms: Legends. Getting on this list is super tough, given the massive number of players, which keeps growing. Even the 1008th player is a serious contender.
Being on the expert list is a badge of honor and a symbol of skill in the virtual gaming world.
RedFeather's top 900 ranking speaks volumes about his prowess.
BlackFlame's absence from the list shows that, according to the Heavenly Secret Pavilion's assessment, his skills don't measure up to RedFeather's.
But Eric didn't give a damn about others' opinions. He immediately started grabbing the loot.
The Mechanical Slaughterer had dropped over a hundred items. If Eric could snag them all, it would be a huge win for his guild.
Given the Mechanical Slaughterer's strength, even the worst items would be Adamantite.
Adamantite weapons and gear are super rare at this stage. Over a hundred such items could arm a twenty-person team, seriously boost a fifty-person team, and majorly improve a hundred-person team.
"Get him! All that loot is mine!" RogueVortex shouted, his fists clenched, glaring at Eric like a venomous snake.
The Darkstar Guild members, who had been waiting, charged forward.
Other guilds and players followed suit, rushing towards the loot.
Eric wasn't about to let them take the loot, but with everyone swarming in, he could only grab as much as he could.
One item... two items... five items...
Eric grabbed whatever was closest and stuffed it into his bag as fast as he could.
"No, kill him! All magic users, hit him with area spells!" RogueVortex roared, watching Eric scoop up item after item. His heart sank. This was his chance to turn the tide for Darkstar Guild, and Eric was snatching it away.
Others quickly realized they needed to take Eric out immediately, or they wouldn't get any loot.
"They're closing in fast," Eric muttered, quickening his pace.
Field boss loot has an extra rule compared to dungeon loot.
If a player sees the loot and is killed within two hours, the loot drops. The same goes for the player who picks it up; they must hold it for two hours for it to stay in their bag.
Because of this rule, the players were desperate to kill Eric, who had seen over 30 items.
The Mechanical Slaughterer had dropped over a hundred items, and Eric had grabbed more than a fifth. No one was going to let that slide.
As the players closed in, Eric spotted an unremarkable item among the loot.
It was a sword, completely encased in crystal.
It looked ordinary, but Eric couldn't help but focus on it.
The sword was eight yards away, and running to it would cost him the chance to pick up two or three other items. The players were less than 40 yards away, and some Rangers had already started attacking.
"Should I go for it?" Eric hesitated.
If he went for the sword, he might miss out on better items. He couldn't be sure of the sword's quality, and if it turned out to be ordinary, he'd lose out.
As Eric hesitated, an arrow flew straight at his head.
Eric reacted quickly, swinging his Abyssal Blade to deflect the arrow, but more arrows followed.
At level 34, Eric's attributes had improved significantly. His speed and strength were far beyond what they were before. He stepped forward, swinging his swords, easily dodging the arrows and cutting down those he couldn't dodge.
"No time left," Eric decided to gamble, rushing towards the crystal sword.
Among all the items, this sword had caught his attention for a reason. He decided to trust his instincts.
As Eric picked up the sword, the players surrounded him, snarling like hungry wolves, ready to tear him apart.
"BlackFlame, you won't escape this time. Hand over all the loot and your equipment," RogueVortex laughed, seeing Eric surrounded.
This time, there were no trees, and the area was packed with players. Eric couldn't escape, even if he had wings.
"President BlackFlame, you're marked now and have killed many players in Silvervale City. If you die, the death penalty will be severe. Hand over the loot, and I'll make sure you leave safely," RedFeather whispered, approaching Eric but not stopping his advance.
Eric glanced at RedFeather, giving him a look of disdain.
With thousands of players attacking him, RedFeather's promise was a joke. He was trying to lure Eric closer to finish him off and grab the loot.
Such tricks might fool kids, but not Eric. Not now, not ever.
