Chapter 211 Remarkable Results
Eric's voice was soft but powerful, almost causing a Priest's hand to tremble and miss the heal.
The two MTs were even more stunned on the spot, getting hit squarely by the Beastbane Marauder's steel great axe. Instantly, over 400 damage numbers popped up above their heads, and they staggered back severalsteps before steadying themselves.
The other DPS teammates also stopped their attacks, staring at Eric in disbelief, thinking they had misheard.
Switching MTs was simply a joke. These two were among the top three MTs in the entire guild, and Eric just casually suggested replacing them. Was he looking for trouble?
If it were because the MTs couldn't hold aggro or had OT issues, that would be understandable. But these two MTs had never made such mistakes. What reason was there to replace them?
"Did they make any mistakes?" WhisperbladeWraith asked.
MTs could be considered the core of a team. A strong MT could make dungeon raids much easier, so they absolutely couldn't be replaced lightly.
"No," Eric shook his head. These two MTs, indeed, hadn't made any mistakes, but not making mistakes didn't mean they were good tanks.
Holding steady aggro and withstanding monsters was fine in ordinary virtual games.
But "Divine Realms: Legends" was different; just doing that wasn't enough.
"If there's no problem, why replace the MTs?" WhisperbladeWraith frowned slightly.
The two MTs were also very angry and indignant at this point. Eric was just an external aid, yet he was so arrogant and conceited. He even found fault with such strong MTs.
"Their evasion skills are too poor. To put it bluntly, they take too much damage. When dealing with the Boss, even four healers can't keep the MTs alive, and the MTs' DPS is too low. In a Boss fight, a 1% difference in health can determine the outcome. I guess when you faced the first Boss, besides insufficient DPS, the healers probably also ran out of mana, leading to a wipe," Eric explained with a smile.
Hearing Eric say this, the two MTs were speechless.
WhisperbladeWraith was also taken aback. He hadn't mentioned the reason for the wipe, yet Eric could guess it.
Eric's reasoning was so sound that WhisperbladeWraith felt some adjustments were indeed necessary.
"Kai Blackthorn, what kind of MTs do you think we need?" WhisperbladeWraith asked earnestly.
The other members of Assassin's Alliance weren't fools either. Seeing the logic, they felt less resentment and gained more respect for Eric. Everyone perked up their ears to hear Eric's opinion.
"It's simple. Find two Guardian Knights, with free attribute points best allocated as 2 Strength, 1 Agility, and 2 Endurance. They should ideally have learned Protection Aura and Strength Aura," Eric replied slowly.
Unknowingly, Eric had become the center of this team.
Before long, WhisperbladeWraith found two Guardian Knights from the guild that met the requirements. However, these two Guardian Knights had average skills and not-so-great gear.
One named Snowflight had just over 1,700 health, and the other named MistLake had over 1,800 health. Their defense was also over 200 points lower than the previous MTs, not even in the same league.
But after looking at their gear, Eric felt it wasn't a big issue. The rest was a matter of skill. He then explained how to fight and dodge these elite monsters. How much they could grasp depended on their own understanding.
He then had one Guardian Knight activate Protection Aura to increase the team's defense by 20 points, and the other activate Strength Aura to increase the team's strength by 5 points. Eric also activated the "One Man Army" title. The title boosted the team's attributes significantly, bringing the two Guardian Knights' health close to 2000 points.
The effect of "One Man Army" left everyone with their mouths agape.
A 10% increase in all attributes was simply a dungeon raid weapon, effectively upgrading everyone's gear by a tier.
This gave them much more confidence in dealing with the Boss.
So, everyone excitedly began clearing the elite mobs.
At first, there were doubts, thinking this might not be reliable. But once the two Guardian Knights started tanking the elites, they noticed a significant improvement.
Although the Beastbane Marauder could still deal around 450 damage to the MTs each hit, the Marauder only hit once every three attacks compared to the previous MTs, who got hit twice every three attacks. This reduced the total damage by about 150 points, making it much easier for the healers. As the fights went on, the number of hits the MTs took gradually decreased, reducing the healers' mana consumption and significantly increasing their sustainability.
By the time they reached the first Boss, Karul, the two Guardian Knights had honed their skills sufficiently so the healers had no pressure and could even take care of other team members.
Karul was a tall and mighty half-orc, twice the size of a normal orc, with steel-like crimson muscles all over his body. He carried a life-sized magic energy warblade on his back. He was level 12, and had 450,000 health.
"Kai Blackthorn, do you have any strategies for this Boss?" WhisperbladeWraith asked, feeling a bit heavy-hearted as they had wiped several times at Karul.
"MTs hold aggro, everyone else dodge the skills. That's it," Eric thought for a moment and spoke.
The entire team gave him a disdainful look.
Wasn't that just stating the obvious!
"Alright, MTs, go ahead. You two take turns tanking the Boss. When one of you is low on health, switch immediately. Everyone else, coordinate your attacks to ease the MTs' pressure," Eric began to command.
The two Guardian Knights charged forward.
As far as Eric knew, Adversity-level Karul had only two skills.
One was Bladestorm Tempest. Using this skill, Karul could turn himself into a tornado for 20 seconds, dealing 600 damage per second within a 36-foot radius.
The other was Mirrorstrike Slash. Using this skill, Karul could instantly disappear from everyone's view and randomly appear behind three to five players, dealing 500 damage and applying a damage amplification effect, increasing damage taken by 10% for two minutes. The effect could stack infinitely.
With these two skills, defeating this Boss couldn't take too long. Otherwise, the damage amplification would stack to a point where Mirrorstrike Slash could one-shot three to five players, which made it impossible to fight. So the only requirement was to finish the fight quickly; the longer it dragged on, the more troublesome it would be.
With nearly 2000 health, Guardian Knight MistLake took the lead, swinging a Punishment at Karul's head, dealing 126 damage. Compared to other elites, Karul's defense was a notch higher. Against 450,000 health, it was negligible.
On the other hand, MistLake failed to dodge and was hit by Karul, getting knocked back with 1,134 damage, losing more than half his health instantly. Snowflight immediately rushed in, activating Righteous Fury and using Shield of Vengeance to generate aggro.
The four healers didn't dare slack off, immediately casting heals on MistLake.
The Priest's instant cast healed over time, restoring 70 health every three seconds for 15 seconds. The Druid also used Lifebloom, restoring 43 health every two seconds for 12 seconds.
This quickly brought MistLake's health back to 90%, allowing him to continue tanking the Boss with Snowflight.
