Chapter 263 Like a Hot Knife Through Butter
The work originally done by two MTs is now all completed by Cola alone, and he clearly has plenty of energy left.
"FlameDancer, go pull another wave. Evan, assist Cola and draw the aggro of the Demonic Handmaiden," Eric said after assessing the situation, thinking that pulling two waves at once wouldn't be a problem and would be more efficient.
Although the Demonic Attendant frequently casts Cursed Bloodblade Buff, with two Priests to dispel it, it wasn't a big issue. Both Priests were highly skilled, especially Violet Mistflow, who had been transformed by the Ordeal of the Divine.
No wonder she became a Tier 6 Divine Priest shortly after passing the Six-Color Trial back then.
Although she hasn't undergone the Six-Color Trial now, passing the Four-Color Trial is still quite impressive, with rewards including permanent attribute points, enhanced skills, and equipment. In terms of healing alone, it's hard to find anyone in Silvervale City who can match Violet Mistflow.
After FlameDancer pulled a new wave of monsters, Cola threw a Shield of Retribution at the three Demonic Attendants, dealing over 300 points of damage and instantly drawing their aggro.
Evan then used an Inferno Charge to stun four Demonic Handmaidens in the back row, immediately following up with a Thunderstrike Assault. Lightning flashed, and the four Demonic Handmaidens each took nearly 100 points of damage. The damage was significantly less than Cola's consecration, enraging the Demonic Handmaidens, who retaliated with a Pyroblast Burst that hit Evan, causing sparks to fly.
Evan staggered back two steps before regaining his balance, his health dropping sharply as he took over 700 points of damage. Evan, a Shield Warrior, had a total health of 2580 points and a defense of 1875, which, while not the best in Silvervale City, was still quite high.
After all, Evan was the top player in VerdantLeaf Studios, the leading studio in Evergreen City. His gear was already quite good, and after a few runs of Adversity-level dungeons with FlameDancer, he was equipped with Dark Iron Level gear and even had three pieces of Mithril Equipment: a shield, chestplate, and leggings. These were essential for an MT, but still fell short compared to Cola's gear.
"So strong," Rosewater exclaimed, looking at Cola tanking 10 elite monsters.
Previously, seeing Cola pulling and tanking monsters, Rosewater felt this wasn't an Infernal-level 20-man raid. But seeing Evan now, she realized it truly was Infernal-level. Cola, the Guardian Knight, was just too powerful. No wonder Eric was so confident, aiming for the Infernal-level Demonic Citadel right from the start. With such a strong MT, starting at Infernal-level wasn't out of the question.
"Healers, focus on Evan. Everyone else, full DPS on the Demonic Handmaiden," Eric commanded as he charged in to kill the Demonic Handmaiden.
"Leave it to me," Tonny said excitedly, finally getting his chance to shine. He wielded his Epic Level staff, Mephisto's Guardian Shield, and unleashed a barrage of spells on the Demonic Handmaiden.
Tonny's firepower was undeniable. Each Shadow Bolt dealt 964 points of damage, with crits hitting for 2106. If Radiant Spear triggered, it added over 800 more damage.
An Inferno Blaze could deal over a thousand points of damage per second within a 30-foot radius. If not for the demons' high magic resistance, the damage would be even higher.
Compared to Tonny's output, Rosewater, an Elementalist, was a bit lacking. Her Inferno Burst or Flameburst Volley dealt around 670 points each, which frustrated her. She used to be an Elder of Prestige in Echoes of Dusk, yet her damage was over 300 points less than Tonny's.
But Rosewater didn't know Tonny was wielding an Epic Level staff. If she did, she would be shocked.
As for the other casters, their output wasn't bad either, all dealing over 500 points of damage.
In melee combat, FlameDancer was formidable. Although Cleaving Strike only dealt around 280 points of damage, and skill usage only about 460, the dual daggers had an extremely fast attack speed. Attacking a Demonic Handmaiden not only did it prevented the Handmaiden from casting spells, but its health also dropped rapidly. After accumulating 8 full energy bars, a Bonecleave dealt over 2400 damage.
Ezio, a Berserker, wielded a level 15 Mithril two-handed axe. His Cleaving Strike dealt around 500 damage, and a heavy strike over 900, but his attack frequency was much lower compared to an Assassin.
The eight experts from the Guild of Aether Wing were already numb to the output of the newcomers, the Five Demon Generals, and the four experts from VerdantLeaf Studios. This was just the tip of the iceberg.
While Rosewater and Frostberry were marveling, Eric's output also shocked them.
Wielding the Abyssal Blade and Silverlake Gleam, Eric's attacks were like the scythe of death, creating a whirlwind. His Cleaving Strike alone dealt around 350 damage, but the real terror was the critical hits, each exceeding 700 points, sometimes even triple crits dealing over 1000 damage. The high attack speed made these frequent, a sight to behold.
A Thunderbolt sent three lightning strikes through all the elites, instantly dealing -510, -721, and -1020 damage, with some crits doubling the damage.
Eric then activated Duskblade Furydance, dealing 40% of the target's damage within a 36-foot range. Each strike caused over 100 damage to the fourteen elite monsters. A level 10 Slash could instantly deal over 300 damage in an area.
Eric's true strength lay in his precise timing and overall strategy. Any slight movement from the elite monsters was met with an Inferno Thunderstorm, stunning them and giving the two MTs more time to adjust positions and stabilize aggro.
Rosewater had known of Eric's strength, but seeing his output firsthand was still shocking.
After killing the two waves of elites, Eric checked the team’s damage output chart.
"This won't do, my gear hasn't been upgraded in too long. I didn't expect my damage to be this low," Eric said with a slight smile.
Although Eric's total damage was first, surpassing Tonny, Tonny's single-target output was far superior.
Eric had been busy making money and building a foundation, so his gear hadn't seen much improvement. He was still wearing the level 10 Dark Iron Outfit Galestorm, with only three pieces of Mithril Equipment, all level 10.
Eric's strong output mainly came from the Abyssal Blade and the pseudo-Transcendent Weapon Blaze Comet, along with many added base attributes. Without these, his output would rank fifth or sixth.
Eric's words were immediately met with disdain from the others.
He claimed his performance was lacking, yet his total damage was first. How were others supposed to feel?
Under Eric's command, the team killed hundreds of elites and over a dozen special elites. Among them, the Fiendish Hellhound was extremely fierce, requiring them to face four at once. If not for Cola's strength, tanking three while Evan handled one, the team might have been wiped out.
The rewards were substantial. Besides some Tier 1 gems, Bronze Equipment, and Dark Iron Equipment, they also obtained two pieces of Mithril Equipment: a cloth armor for Elementalists, given to Rosewater, and a pair of cloth shoes for Priests, which Violet Mistflow didn't need, so they were given to another Priest, Frostberry.
"Infernal-level 20-man raids really do have high rewards. Elites drop Dark Iron Equipment, and special elites drop Mithril Equipment," Rosewater remarked. The loot from just reaching the first boss was equivalent to clearing an Adversity-level dungeon. If they could take down one or two bosses, it would be a huge gain.
"It's too early to celebrate. Let's be happy after we take down the boss in front of us," Eric said, his eyes narrowing as he looked at the tall, blood-tinged, heavily armored knight in the arena.
Knight Commander Fred Justin, a demon creature, Overlord Grade, level 16, with 880,000 health.
