Chapter 102 Kobold King (Part 1)

The sky was dark, and a bright red full moon illuminated the entire Shadowmoon Graveyard.

In contrast to the Common Level Shadowmoon Graveyard, this wilderness was enveloped in a dense fog that not only hindered visibility but also exuded an atmosphere of perpetual bloodshed. It felt as if they had entered a battlefield with an oppressive and heavy atmosphere that made movement sluggish.

"So is this the Infernal-level Shadowmoon Graveyard?" Isabella glanced around and smiled faintly.

She noticed that the fog seemed almost alive, giving a sense of being watched. The crimson glimmers within the fog were most likely the blood-red eyes of the Kobolds.

The sheer number of monsters here far exceeded that of the Common Level, not to mention the fog that obscured vision, greatly increasing the difficulty of combat. "Kai Blackthorn, what do you mean by this? Why did you bring us to the Infernal level?" Scarlet looked at Eric and questioned him.

Having experienced the horrors of the Common Level, even an idiot would know how terrifying the Infernal level must be. This was no place for humans. Without even having cleared the Common Level, venturing into the Infernal level was akin to a death sentence for them.

Isabella was also curious about why Eric did this. Based on Eric's behavior, he was definitely not a brainless person.

Even the members of Eric's Squad were surprised. They were supposed to be at the Common Level, so why were they now at the Infernal level?

"I'm the captain now, and what I say goes. I chose the Infernal level for a reason. If you have any objections, you can leave; I won't stop you," Eric said with a smile.

This was Eric's home turf.

Previously, Eric had deferred to Scarlet to avoid revealing his cards. Now that they were on his ground, he wouldn't hold back.

"You... you're being a jerk!" Scarlet's eyes widened in anger, her chest heaving as she stomped on the rocks beneath her feet. She didn't know what to say, biting her lip and turning her head away from Eric.

Eric was using her own words against her, showing no gentlemanly conduct. Once this was over, she was definitely going to deal with Eric.

Initially, Tonny had intended to mediate, but upon seeing Scarlet fall silent, he quietly gave Eric a thumbs-up.

Eric dare to argue with a beautiful woman!

He definitely couldn't do that.

"Kai Blackthorn, are you really confident we can clear the Infernal level? It is important to note that while there may only be a two-level difference between the Common-level and Infernal levels on the surface, the actual increase in difficulty is at least tenfold. The requirements for equipment, coordination, and command are several levels higher. I don't want my team members to die for no reason," Isabella asked softly.

The death penalty in team dungeons was much less than in smaller dungeons, but it was still 5%. For the infernal level, the experience loss upon death was as high as 10%. So when tackling the Infernal-tier Dungeon, Isabella wouldn't attempt it unless she had at least a 70% success rate.

"There shouldn't be any issues, but we still need to try to know for sure," Eric said without overpromising. Given the current team configuration and equipment, the chances of clearing the Infernal-level Shadowmoon Graveyard were very high; otherwise, he wouldn't have chosen this level.

In his previous life, he had gone through numerous team wipes and experiences to come up with a few methods to clear the Infernal-level Shadowmoon Graveyard. If they relied on Isabella to slowly figure it out, who knows how long it would take and how many times they would be wiped out?

Seeing Eric's calm demeanor, Isabella thought for a moment and chose to support him. She was also curious to witness Eric's capabilities. If he performed well, it wouldn't be a bad idea to have him join the Godslayer Corps.

With Isabella's nod, even those who were dissatisfied had to follow suit. It wasn't that they trusted Eric, but they trusted Isabella's judgment.

Eric then began to assign tasks, which were mainly similar to Isabella's assignments. The only difference was that he pulled three elemental mages into the Spearhead Vanguard, no longer needing scouts to pave the way, and instead joined the Guardian Relief Squad to protect the healers.

"When we enter the fog, the two MTs should use their survival skills and follow me closely. Make sure to dodge, and everyone else should follow. No matter what happens, don't stop moving. Healers should use instant-cast spells to heal the two MTs, and everyone else should use their own healing potions," Eric explained. "If everyone understands, use the speed scrolls now."

Hearing Eric's instructions, everyone was suspicious, wondering, 'What was he planning, a suicide squad? Using speed scrolls, did he think we weren't dying fast enough?'

And how much would they earn from the next dungeon run? Twenty people meant twenty-speed scrolls; that was a lot of money!

"Alright, everyone use the speed scrolls," Isabella ordered, seeing the dissatisfaction among the group.

Reluctantly, everyone used the expensive speed scrolls. They had prepared only two-speed scrolls each, and using one before even beginning to engage in combat seemed like a waste.

However, the members of Eric's Squad didn't think much of it. Speed scrolls had long been essential for them in hunting wild monsters and elites, with each person carrying six or seven.

After using the speed scrolls, everyone followed Eric to the entrance of the maze area."Stay close, or you'll be on your own," Eric reminded them in the team channel.

With Eric's warning, everyone became nervous. Falling behind would mean certain death. "Run!" Eric saw that everyone was ready and activated the "One Man Army" title, boosting everyone's attributes and increasing their running speed.

Before they could marvel at their boosted attributes, they saw Eric start running, and they all followed him into the fog.

Visibility within the fog was extremely limited, only extending to a mere 15 feet.

After a while, Eric suddenly said, "MTs, use your survival skills, healers, start healing."

Following Eric's command, the two MTs activated their survival skills, and the healers cast healing spells on them.

Suddenly, black beams emerged from the fog, hitting the two MTs and dealing terrifying damage. Fortunately, the healers were constantly healing, and the MTs were moving quickly, reducing the chances of getting hit.

With the two MTs taking the damage, the others had nothing to worry about.

They followed Eric for over ten minutes, navigating through numerous twists and turns. They decided to use another speed scroll, and the healers resorted to consuming mana potions whenever their mana levels ran low. This made the Devouring Serpents members feel the pinch; it was like throwing money away.

They could sense countless monsters chasing them, roaring angrily. If they stopped, they would surely die.

Luckily, the maze-like area had many narrow paths, making it difficult for the monsters to catch up and attack.

"Turn left ahead into the narrow path. MTs block the entrance and use your survival skills. Healers, spam heal. Tonny, prepare Inferno Blaze. If the MTs can't hold, the three elemental mages should use Frozen Starfall to block the monsters. If the MTs fall, all melee fighters block the path; no attacking!" Eric shouted in the team chat upon seeing the narrow path ahead.

Everyone rushed into the narrow path, and the two MTs blocked the entrance.

As the MTs took their positions, they experienced powerful attacks that forcefully pushed them back, accompanied by damage numbers appearing above their heads. Seeing them about to be knocked back, Eric placed his hands on their backs, stabilizing them as if they were leaning against a wall."Tonny, hurry up! Elemental mages, prepare Frost Nova Cascade," Eric urged.

"Done," Tonny said, finishing the incantation.

"MTs, fall back. Elemental mages, Frost Nova Cascade!" Eric shouted.

A Frost Nova Cascade burst out, freezing all the monsters and dealing over 20 damage to each.

"Such high ice resistance," Scarlet frowned, dissatisfied with the damage dealt.

Then, emerald flames shot up, dealing over 300 damage per tick for 5 seconds, rapidly depleting the monsters' health and leaving everyone stunned.

Even Tonny was shocked by the high damage. These were elites and special elites; dealing over 100 damage was already impressive.

Tonny didn't know that these Shadowmoon Graveyard Kobolds, living in such a cold place, feared fire the most. Fire magic, especially against Zombified Kobolds, dealt multiplied damage.

After the Inferno Blaze, the MTs took over again. Due to the narrow path, they encountered only two or three monsters at most, limiting the number of adversaries they had to face. Larger Zombified Kobolds filled the path alone, and the monsters couldn't effectively attack, with only one or two claws reaching the MTs, easily shared between them, posing no threat.

After more than ten minutes, all the Kobolds were killed by Tonny's Inferno Blaze, significantly boosting everyone's experience points and leaving a pile of loot.

The Devouring Serpents members were amazed, not just by Tonny's magic but more so by Eric's strategy. Finding such a method and location showed his keen observation and intelligence.

Devouring Serpents members always respected strong individuals, and they felt ashamed of their previous slander against Eric.

Even Scarlet, impressed by Eric's command, had nothing to say, although she still disliked him, wondering why the monsters were so stupid.

"He's indeed capable; no wonder he reached level 6 so quickly," Isabella reconsidered Eric's abilities. She hadn't expected him to achieve this. Not only did he possess a title that enhanced team attributes, but his sharp observation skills were also awe-inspiring. Having someone like him on the team would greatly facilitate dungeon raids.

"We got 28 pieces of equipment, including nine Dark Iron Level items. The rest are Bronze Equipment. We'll distribute them by class," Eric said, organizing the loot and distributing it by class. Same-class items would be rolled for, with the highest roll winning.

Hearing Eric's report, everyone was shocked and speechless.

Currently, Dark Iron Equipment was top-tier.

Previously, killing many small monsters in the Shadowmoon Graveyard had yielded only a few Bronze Equipment pieces. Now, killing a bunch of small monsters had dropped so many Dark Iron and Bronze items.

The drop rate was astonishing!
