Chapter 58 Equipment Race
From the moment Eric put the Glowing Chestplate on sale, all twenty pieces were sold out within just twenty minutes, far surpassing the popularity of the Guardian Plate.
There were even many players who posted pictures on the official forum to show off their purchases. In the past, players had to beg to form teams, but now, with just a shout and their impressive gear, over ten elite squads would send invitations without hesitation, letting them pick and choose.
As more people focused on the Glowing Chestplate, those who missed out were beating their chests in regret, wishing they had borrowed money to buy one, but now there were none left on the market.
On the other side, the forging association in Golden Sandsburg was overcrowded and bustling with people. The entire spacious hall was filled with players, all representatives from various guilds, with one purpose: to invite Hammer Trader to join their guild.
Among the guilds present, quite renowned, with no shortage of spokespersons from Third-tier Guilds.. Usually, these representatives would be arrogant, treating life players with a superior attitude. Even so, these life players would still welcome them eagerly, showing utmost respect, often moved to tears, swearing loyalty to the guild, and quickly signing contracts to become part of a major guild.
However, the market had changed. Guild leaders repeatedly emphasized that they must recruit Hammer Trader, or else they would be out of a job. So, these guild representatives obediently stood in the hall, waiting for Hammer Trader's audience.
"Hammer Trader, you're amazing! I'm so impressed. I used to go to those third-rate guilds for recruitment, and they wouldn't hire me no matter what. Now they're all waiting downstairs, and I can't even get rid of them," In the intermediate forging room on the second floor, a voluptuous woman in her twenties, who happened to be a female Priest, wrapped her arms around Hammer Trader's muscular arm. Her modest bosom brushed against him as she admiringly exclaimed with a cheerful smile.
Hammer Trader looked rugged, with a thick beard and small eyes, and sallow skin. He appeared to be in his thirties, but in reality, Hammer Trader was just a college student in his early twenties.
"That's nothing. Who would have thought some idiot would attempt to monopolize the market while hiding their identity? They inadvertently made all the major guilds aware of my significance. I should actually thank them for that." Hammer Trader laughed, secretly praising his own cleverness. He had managed to use that blacksmith's fame to his advantage, becoming a hero among average players. "Once I join a top-tier guild and climb the ranks, that's when the real fun begins. For now, let those third-rate guilds wait outside; it only boosts my value and reputation." "Hammer Trader, what should we do with all the orders we've received?" asked an Assassin.
Hammer Trader rolled his eyes at the Assassin and scoffed, "Who cares about them? I lose nearly two silver coins per piece. Do they think I'm running a charity? My goal is already achieved. Now, I just have to wait for the top-tier guilds to come. Ignore everyone else and say we're too busy."
To surpass Eric, Hammer Trader had used all his classmates' silver coins and spent a lot of credit points to buy materials and silver coins, making over ten Barbarian Chestplates. The most expensive ones sold for four silver coins each, causing significant losses. But now it was all worth it. Once a top-tier guild accepted Hammer Trader, he would have unlimited materials, a hefty monthly salary, and a bunch of female players to choose from. Just thinking about it made him ecstatic.
Suddenly, a Berserker rushed in, looking extremely anxious.
"What's going on? Are the top-tier guild leaders here?" Hammer Trader joked.
"Something big has happened. The auction house is suddenly flooded with high-quality gear. Players on the official forum are talking about it, and the hits are skyrocketing, now over five million. Several guilds have noticed, and these items are also being sold anonymously, starting at four silver coins. Everyone suspects it's the work of a blacksmith, and they're not interested in you anymore."
"Moreover, a few top-tier guilds have posted on the forum, offering high salaries to hire that blacksmith as their chief blacksmith. Some major guild representatives downstairs have already left for the auction house."
Hearing this, Hammer Trader froze his expression and thought, 'I had worked so hard to attract the attention of top-tier guilds, only to have this anonymous blacksmith steal the spotlight. If I didn't regain the attention, those top-tier guilds might forget about me.'
"How dare he steal my spotlight and position? I'll show him no mercy. Such high-quality gear must be expensive to make and have a low success rate. If he sells for four silver coins, I'll sell for 3. Let's see how much he can lose!" Hammer Trader stood up abruptly, determined to teach Eric a lesson. He couldn't let go of the chief blacksmith position and the future happiness that was within his grasp.
Selling a lower-quality Barbarian Chestplate already cost him nearly two silver coins. Selling high-quality gear for four silver coins would lose at least 4 or 5 silver coins, maybe more. He didn't believe Eric could outlast him.
"But, Hammer Trader, we don't have much silver left and we can only make less than ten Barbarian Chestplates," the Berserker worriedly said.
"Don't worry, I still have some capital. I'll just spend more credit points to buy materials and silver coins. I refuse to be outdone by that kid. He must be trying to get the top-tier guilds' attention with these loss-making sales, but the final winner will be me," Hammer Trader said confidently, convinced that Eric had the same goal.
An hour later, several more Barbarian Chestplates appeared in Silvervale City's auction house, starting at three silver coins.
At the same time, a new post appeared on the official forum.
"For the benefit of all players, I, Hammer Trader, have decided to sell Barbarian Chestplates for three silver coins. I will fight against the greedy blacksmith to the end. Please support and encourage me!"
A flood of players responded, pushing Hammer Trader's post to the top. Everyone supported Hammer Trader's conscientious move.
This event caused a stir throughout the Silvervale City region. Everyone realized that two blacksmiths capable of forging Bronze Equipment were competing. All Silvervale City players were excited, knowing they would benefit from low-priced Bronze Equipment soon.
Various guilds decided to watch the battle unfold, waiting for the final winner and planning to acquire the gear to strengthen their guilds.
However, Eric was unaware of all this. He had just finished collecting Stone Materials and sturdy stones. Upon reentering the auction house and witnessing the larger crowd of players, he quickly gathered information about the situation.
"He wants to compete with me?" Eric smiled slightly. "Let him come."He pulled up the auction house control panel and listed all the Glowing Chestplates, setting them to sell twenty pieces every hour, totaling over 120 Glowing Chestplates. This stock would be enough to keep Hammer Trader busy for a while.
He then used the money from selling Glowing Chestplates to buy more cards and sturdy stones. After purchasing everything, Eric found he still had over one gold coin left.
The system kept sending notifications: another Glowing Chestplate sold, and how much silver had been added to his inventory.
He felt like the more he bought, the more silver he had, with no sign of it decreasing. Eric considered selling some silver coins at the trading center to get some cash to spend so he wouldn't have too many silver coins sitting idle.
