Chapter 409 Rank Difference

Time flew by quickly.

The audience was on edge, their nerves stretched taut. Even though they weren't the ones fighting, their focus was entirely on the arena, as intense as if they were in the battle themselves.

This was the final duel.

The outcome of this duel would determine the fate of both sides. The victor would become the leader of the Devouring Serpents, and their supporters would rise to prominence, becoming the ultimate winners in life. The loser, however, would be banished from Divine Realms: Legends forever, and their supporters would face dire consequences.

The atmosphere in the stands was incredibly tense.

Even the elders watching from the sidelines felt a heavy weight on their shoulders, a sense of oppression.

And that was nothing compared to what Isabella and Jake's sides were feeling.

"SpiritSnake, if you have any guts, come out! It's been over twenty minutes, and you still haven't attacked. You have the advantage, yet you're using such despicable tactics. Aren't you ashamed?" Scarlet glared at the arena where SpiritSnake remained hidden, her brows furrowed. She was almost ready to roll up her sleeves and join Violet Mistflow in the fight.

SpiritSnake was incredibly cunning, willing to use any means necessary to win.

Violet Mistflow had to stay on high alert, constantly aware of her surroundings, while SpiritSnake didn't have to.

A normal person's concentration can last about half an hour. Beyond that, it takes a significant toll on their mental state, leading to fatigue and mistakes.

This is the brain's way of protecting itself, and it's unavoidable.

The duel had already lasted nearly half an hour.

Even Scarlet felt she was reaching her limit. If this dragged on any longer, her focus would definitely waver.

In a high-level duel, even a moment's distraction could lead to death...

"Haha, we didn't set a time limit for this duel. How they fight is up to the duelists. If you didn't think to set this rule before the fight, it's too late to regret it now," BlackArrow said with a smug smile.

Scarlet was left speechless.

But BlackArrow was right. There was no time limit set for this duel, but no one expected SpiritSnake to be so shameless. She thought she had seen the worst of SpiritSnake's tactics.

She had underestimated him. He had no qualms about dragging this out for over half an hour.

"It was my oversight. I forgot to set a time limit against an Assassin," Isabella said, looking at Violet Mistflow, who was visibly fatigued from searching for SpiritSnake. She felt a deep sense of guilt.

Such a crucial duel, and she had overlooked this detail...

This undoubtedly reduced Violet Mistflow's chances of winning.

"Everyone, let's not worry. Let's just watch. I believe Violet Mistflow knows what she's doing," Eric said, trying to reassure them as he watched Violet Mistflow in the arena.

"But..."

"Trust me."

Eric was calm, not worried at all.

SpiritSnake's tactic was clever, but it was far from enough to defeat Violet Mistflow.

Finally, half an hour had passed.

"It looks like she's reaching her limit."

SpiritSnake, hiding in the distance, had been closely observing Violet Mistflow. He had several opportunities to strike in the past half hour, but he held back. He wanted to ensure a 100% chance of victory, to definitely take down Violet Mistflow, so he waited until now.

Violet Mistflow was sweating, clearly at her limit. SpiritSnake even deliberately made a small noise about ten yards away to test her. With her sharp senses, she should have noticed, but she didn't react at all.

"Just as I thought, she's exhausted from the intense focus."

SpiritSnake was thrilled. He silently moved behind Violet Mistflow, inching closer without a sound.

Ten yards... five yards... three yards...

In no time, SpiritSnake was within the critical range of a top player. He drew a gleaming dagger, slashing it in a silver arc towards the back of Violet Mistflow's head.

A sneak attack!

This would stun the target for four seconds. In the early stages, with few skills to break free, being hit would mean certain death from a series of powerful attacks.

To ensure a hit, SpiritSnake even used Second-Stage Acceleration. Even if Violet Mistflow noticed, she wouldn't be able to block it.

Just as the dagger was about to strike, Violet Mistflow let out a roar.

Fear Roar!

This skill caused enemies within eight yards to be terrified for four seconds, rendering them unable to control their bodies.

In an instant, both Violet Mistflow and SpiritSnake were hit by control skills. Violet Mistflow was stunned, and SpiritSnake was terrified.

"Violet Mistflow is amazing! She used Fear Roar at the last moment, so neither can attack now. SpiritSnake is exposed, and Violet Mistflow can just keep her distance and wear him down," Scarlet said excitedly.

"No," Isabella interjected.

"Isabella, is there a problem?" Scarlet asked, puzzled.

"SpiritSnake is level 24, but Violet Mistflow is only level 22. Both are under four-second control skills, but SpiritSnake's higher level means the effect will be slightly reduced. He might break free in 3.5 seconds, while Violet Mistflow will still be stunned for four seconds. That 0.5-second difference is enough for SpiritSnake to act," Isabella explained, her face serious. Despite Violet Mistflow's impressive counter, the level difference was crucial.

"Does that mean... we've lost?" Scarlet's expression turned gloomy.

Jake, on the other side, smiled victoriously.

Once the control effects wore off, the duel would be over.

But Eric suddenly spoke up, smiling, "No, we've won."

"Won?" Scarlet turned to Eric, confused. "But Violet Mistflow's stun lasts longer. How can she win?"

"Just watch," Eric replied with a smile.

"Watch?"

Everyone was puzzled by Eric's confidence, but as a top player, he must have a reason.

"Such arrogance," BlackArrow sneered at Eric. "Divine Realms: Legends has a strict level suppression system. A three-level difference greatly reduces skill effectiveness. Even a two-level difference is significant. How can you not know this basic fact?"

Before BlackArrow could finish, Violet Mistflow woke up first.

"No... how is this possible? It's not even three seconds!" BlackArrow's eyes widened in disbelief.

Everyone in the arena, except Eric, was in chaos.

They couldn't understand why Violet Mistflow woke up first.

"Too bad. Even though you're two levels higher, you're a lower tier than me."

Violet Mistflow smiled at the trembling, paralyzed SpiritSnake, raising her staff. A black magic circle slowly formed under SpiritSnake's feet.

"There's still hope," SpiritSnake thought, seeing Violet Mistflow use a time-consuming spell. "I can escape with my vanish skill once the control wears off."

SpiritSnake could see and hear, though he couldn't move.

The spell would take at least a second to complete, and he had less than a second left to break free. He could vanish and avoid the attack.

But Violet Mistflow continued chanting.

As the 3.5 seconds passed, SpiritSnake tried to vanish.

"What's happening?" SpiritSnake couldn't move.

Violet Mistflow's spell activated.

A high-tier spell: Black Coffin!
