Chapter 246 Neither Great Nor Humble

"Costs only one go to success, looks like my luck is pretty good," Eric heard the System prompt and smiled slightly.

The original Arcane Sentinel had been promoted to Obsidian Level, and its name had changed accordingly.

Eric then began to examine the silver-white crescent-shaped shield on the anvil, eager to know the attributes of this Arcane Sentinel shield.

Arcane Sentinel.

Shield, Obsidian Level, equipment level 15, strength requirement 110 points.

Defense 550, defense rate 39%, strength +21, endurance +30, evasion +10.

Comes with passive skill Melody of Life: each time damage is taken, gain a layer of Life Force, increasing max HP by 3% and healing received by 2%, lasting one minute, stacking up to 10 times. Comes with passive skill Twofold Refraction: triggers once every 25 seconds, negating one instance of damage.

Comes with skill Arc of Time: allows the user to save their current state and revert to it after 9 seconds, cooldown 10 minutes.

"Arc of Time is such a powerful skill. No wonder the other attributes didn't increase much. Just having this one skill is enough to make it an Obsidian Level shield," Eric marveled.

Saving the current state means that even if the player dies within the next 9 seconds, they will revert to their original state, including all skills used after saving. This is even more powerful than invincibility, though the cooldown is a bit long. If such an overpowered skill had a short cooldown, the Arcane Sentinel wouldn't be Obsidian Level; it would probably be Epic Level.

Having one Arcane Sentinel wasn't enough for Eric; he wanted to make more.

He made four more in a row, but the results weren't great. Two failed, not even reaching Bronze Level, one reached Mithril Level, and only one reached Adamantite.

However, this success rate was already quite good. Out of five made with Rune of Aurum, one reached Obsidian, one reached Adamantite, and one reached Mithril. The Obsidian Level Arcane Sentinel would be kept for Cola, making their strategy for the level 15 twenty-man raid Demonic Citadel much easier.

Just as Eric was about to continue making Arcane Sentinels, he heard a knock on the door of the forge.

"Come in."

The forge's wooden door opened, and a blonde beauty walked in. It was Anna, Eric's assistant.

"Sir, an adventurer named Rosewater says she wants to see you. She said it was prearranged and is now waiting in the third-floor conference room," Anna said respectfully.

"Alright, I'll be there soon," Eric nodded.

He estimated that Rosewater should be arriving soon. After all, using a portal is instantaneous and not very troublesome. It just takes some time to gather people, explain things clearly, and make future plans.

In the third-floor conference room, Rosewater and her over a hundred subordinates sat quietly, discussing matters related to Eric.

These people were all high-level, with the lowest being level 13 and the rest level 14, making them elite members in any top-tier guild.

These people were Rosewater's trusted subordinates.

Before coming here, they couldn't imagine that someone would actually spend three hundred gold to bring them here. If it wasn't because the faction was extremely wealthy, they must be crazy.

But seeing that Eric was associated with such a large trading company, something no guild could achieve, and with a huge reputation in all of Eldoria, it was like being in the limelight.

Especially with the recently popular beginner magic Armor Scales of the Ancients, which many guilds couldn't even dream of obtaining.

If they could join such a powerful faction, every member of the main team would have beginner magic Armor Scales of the Ancients, a treatment that even top-tier guilds couldn't offer.

"Rosewater, who exactly is this Black Flame? Is he a high-ranking member of some super guild?" a female Swordsman asked expectantly.

Rosewater shook her head with a wry smile, "I don't know either. He's always been very mysterious, but I think we'll find out today."

Rosewater was also very curious, but now that she had joined Black Flame's faction, Black Flame wouldn't keep it a secret any longer. She would finally get to see the powerful entity behind Eric.

"Sorry to keep you waiting."

Eric walked into the spacious conference room, and the room fell silent. Everyone stood up, showing respect as if they were meeting an interviewer, feeling both nervous and excited.

Leaving Echoes of Dusk, they felt like homeless birds wanting to fly higher but feeling lost and helpless, unsure of what the future held.

But now it was different. They were joining a bigger family, and they felt fortunate for choosing to follow Rosewater out of Echoes of Dusk.

Because the path to glory had opened for them!

"I should be the one apologizing for making you wait so long, Master Black Flame," Rosewater said apologetically.

"Since we're all companions now, there's no need to address me as Master. Just call me Black Flame," Eric sensed Rosewater and the others' unease, which was understandable. "I brought you here just to have you join the guild first. After that, you can develop freely without any restrictions. By the way, here's a guide to Silvervale City. After reading it, you'll quickly get familiar with the city."

After Eric finished speaking, he handed Rosewater a deluxe guide to Silvervale City and sent a guild invitation to everyone present.

"Aether Wing?"

"What kind of guild is this?"

"Why is it a one-star guild? Isn't it supposed to be a hidden powerhouse?"

Everyone was stunned after accepting Eric's guild invitation. Not only had they never heard of such a guild, but a one-star guild also indicated it was extremely weak, as even third-rate guilds were at least three-star now, let alone top-tier guilds.

Checking the total number of guild members left everyone even more shocked.

Before they joined, the guild had only 9 members. What kind of guild was this?

It was probably the weakest guild they had ever seen, without exception.

Even Rosewater was taken aback, as this was completely different from what she had imagined. She thought Eric would introduce her to many important figures in the guild, showing her the terrifying power behind it, but the reality was far from her expectations.

The guild's strength was clear at a glance.

"Are you disappointed, feeling that the guild is so weak?" Eric asked, seeing the disappointment on their faces. "Let me tell you clearly, this is Aether Wing. It's neither great nor humble, just a place to call home. How others see it depends on how you perform."
