Chapter 411 Victory and Defeat
Violet Mistflow's effortless victory left the entire arena in stunned silence.
SpiritSnake, one of the twelve apostles of Devouring Serpents, had been defeated so easily. It was unbelievable that he couldn't even scratch a Priest.
"Did we really win?" Scarlet, who had been praying for Violet Mistflow's victory, was shocked by how easily it happened.
Violet Mistflow's techniques were bizarre, especially the final move that maximized the Black Coffin skill. Unlike Kai Blackthorn, Violet Mistflow didn't rely on flashy attacks but instead used skills to their fullest potential, leaving SpiritSnake unable to showcase his own abilities.
Scarlet didn't think Violet Mistflow's combat skills were much better than her own. It was just that Violet Mistflow's mastery of skills was so advanced that even a more technically skilled SpiritSnake lost.
"Kai Blackthorn, is Violet Mistflow really a Priest?" Isabella asked, curious and excited. She couldn't believe a Priest could have such skills and higher base attributes than Scarlet.
"Yes and no," Eric replied with a smile, understanding Isabella's confusion.
"What's going on?" Scarlet asked, equally curious.
"Violet Mistflow has transitioned from a basic Priest to a hidden class called Star Sorcerer. She retains Priest skills and gains new ones from the Star Sorcerer class," Eric explained. "The move that defeated SpiritSnake was a first-tier Star Sorcerer skill."
"A first-tier class? You mean Violet Mistflow has already advanced to a first-tier class?" Scarlet looked at Violet Mistflow in disbelief.
First-tier classes were a mystery to most players, but experts knew they were stronger than basic classes. The transition tasks were complex and time-consuming, so most players focused on leveling up first. But the difference between basic and first-tier classes was clearly significant.
"Is this the gap between basic and first-tier players?" Scarlet thought, feeling a newfound determination to advance to a first-tier class.
Isabella realized why Violet Mistflow and Kai Blackthorn were only level 22—they had been completing transition tasks. "The Guild of Aether Wing is full of hidden talents," she thought. "Devouring Serpents needs to speed up their transitions."
First-tier classes were so powerful that having a group of them would be terrifying. They could conquer any dungeon and level up much faster. Compared to that, current leveling and dungeon runs seemed like a waste of time.
The five duels ended with Isabella's team victorious. Jake, the losing side's leader, was furious, his eyes bloodshot as he glared at the recently revived SpiritSnake. He hadn't expected Isabella to find such strong allies.
But it was too late. The main system began enforcing the contract, and Jake's body started to dissolve, being expelled from Divine Realms: Legends. The once formidable acting leader of Devouring Serpents was now permanently banned from the game.
Without Jake, SpiritSnake and BlackArrow were lost. Isabella was now the guild leader, and dealing with them would be easy.
SpiritSnake regretted following Jake, thinking it would lead to success, but it ended in disaster.
As SpiritSnake and BlackArrow despaired, GrayWolfSkyborne, one of the external allies, approached Isabella.
"Hey, Ms. Collins, we meet again," GrayWolfSkyborne greeted with a smile.
"What do you want?" Isabella asked, surprised. GrayWolfSkyborne usually ignored guild players, so his approach was unusual.
Eric was also curious about what GrayWolfSkyborne wanted to say.
"I just wanted to congratulate you on becoming the guild leader of Devouring Serpents," GrayWolfSkyborne said softly.
"Thanks," Isabella replied politely, though she felt uneasy around him.
GrayWolfSkyborne then turned to Eric. "I didn't expect to meet a kindred spirit here. I'd love to spar with you, but I'm still a basic class. I'll challenge you once I advance."
"But before I go, I have a word of advice for Kai Blackthorn: leave Aether Wing and find a better guild."
"What do you mean by that?" Eric asked, knowing GrayWolfSkyborne wouldn't speak lightly.
"Let's just say Aether Wing's recent success has attracted some dangerous attention," GrayWolfSkyborne hinted. "Even I find them troublesome. If Aether Wing crosses them, the consequences could be dire."
"Are you talking about The Stygian Alliance?"
"No, it's someone even more dangerous. If Aether Wing provokes them, it won't end well," GrayWolfSkyborne warned before leaving.
Eric was puzzled, unable to guess who could be a threat to Aether Wing that even GrayWolfSkyborne feared.
"Forget it. We'll deal with it as it comes," Eric decided, not wanting to worry unnecessarily.
After GrayWolfSkyborne left, Isabella expelled SpiritSnake and BlackArrow from Devouring Serpents. Despite their skills, she couldn't trust them, especially SpiritSnake.
Isabella then transferred 30 million credits each to Eric and Violet Mistflow as payment for their help. Violet Mistflow was speechless, having never seen such a large sum before. Eric was also pleased, as the funds would support his studio for a while.
With Isabella busy as the new guild leader, Eric and Violet Mistflow left the underground arena.
As they headed back to Silvervale City, Eric received an urgent message.
"Eric, something big has happened," Tonny's voice was filled with anxiety.
