Chapter 403 Blood Fury

Jake's team, which had been quiet because of Isabella's dominance, suddenly burst into laughter when they saw the match list displayed in the arena.

The third match: FierceSnake vs. GrayWolfSkyborne!

FierceSnake was a Berserker, while GrayWolfSkyborne was a Shield Warrior. Berserkers had a significant edge in combat power, but Shield Warriors had high defense and health, along with a bunch of survival skills, making them tougher to beat than other classes.

The two classes didn't have a direct counter relationship; it all came down to who had better skills.

Isabella glanced at the calm and composed GrayWolfSkyborne, who exuded a subtle yet palpable sense of pressure, making people instinctively keep their distance.

GrayWolfSkyborne didn't seem like an ordinary expert. Even Phantom Slayer, the main tank of the core team, had said that he started playing Shield Warrior because of GrayWolfSkyborne. Jake and his team held GrayWolfSkyborne in high regard, proving that his skills were top-tier, likely on par with SpiritSnake.

Among the Twelve Apostles, FlyingSerpent ranked first, SpiritSnake third, and FierceSnake ninth. FierceSnake's win rate against SpiritSnake was only about 30-40%, losing more often than winning.

If GrayWolfSkyborne was stronger than SpiritSnake and comparable to FlyingSerpent, FierceSnake's win rate would be at most 20-30%.

However, GrayWolfSkyborne wasn't a damage-dealing class, so his attacks wouldn't be strong. Berserkers wore plate armor, unlike Rangers, who wore chainmail, leather, or cloth armor and could be taken down in a few hits. GrayWolfSkyborne would likely play a war of attrition, slowly wearing down FierceSnake, which was the Shield Warrior's specialty.

"FierceSnake, your opponent is tough. Don't get tangled up with him and give him an opening," Isabella whispered to FierceSnake, handing him a skill book with gold edges from her backpack. "Learn this skill book and use it at a critical moment. It might help you defeat him unexpectedly."

FierceSnake was stunned when he read the skill book's description.

The skill book contained Blood Fury, a rare Berserker burst skill that increased damage by 40%, strength by 15%, and attack speed by 30% for a short time. The lower the player's health, the faster the attack speed. For a Berserker, this skill book was worth more than one or two Obsidian Level weapons.

"Isabella, this Blood Fury is too valuable. I can't learn it," FierceSnake shook his head.

"GrayWolfSkyborne is not easy to deal with, and you know it. You don't want me to lose, do you?" Isabella had prepared for this competition, fearing strong opponents. In the arena, players couldn't use items, so the only way to boost combat power was to learn powerful new skills. Blood Fury was one of them, and she had another high-level skill book for SpiritSnake, but it couldn't be used now.

Eric, sitting nearby, was slightly surprised.

Isabella had managed to get such a rare skill book.

Blood Fury was a skill book dropped by high-level Overlords in the wild, with only a 2% drop rate. Getting it was pure luck.

"I understand."

"I won't lose."

FierceSnake nodded, learned Blood Fury, and looked at the slender GrayWolfSkyborne entering the arena, his eyes filled with determination.

Originally, FierceSnake had only a 30% chance of beating GrayWolfSkyborne, but now with Blood Fury, his odds had jumped to 60-70%.

FierceSnake then stepped into the arena.

"Isabella, you're amazing! I was worried for nothing. FierceSnake's definitely gonna win now!" Scarlet hugged Isabella, her gloomy mood instantly lifted.

Isabella gently tapped Scarlet's forehead and smiled.

Meanwhile, the battle in the arena began.

"Let's see what you got."

FierceSnake charged at GrayWolfSkyborne with his silver-gray battle axe, creating a roaring sound in the air. But GrayWolfSkyborne didn't even draw his sword and shield, simply sidestepping, causing the axe to miss and hit the ground.

GrayWolfSkyborne then stepped on the axe, embedding it in the ground, and drew his sword with golden sorcery markings, slashing at FierceSnake's neck in a beautiful arc.

The entire process was fluid and impressive.

FierceSnake didn't even react before taking 536 damage.

Though this damage wasn't much compared to FierceSnake's 3200+ health, the psychological impact was significant.

He hadn't even reacted before getting hit, something that had never happened in his PK experience.

Seeing GrayWolfSkyborne's sword coming again, FierceSnake quickly used Whirlwind Slash. GrayWolfSkyborne raised his shield, blocking the attack and only taking a step back.

FierceSnake pressed on, launching a series of attacks, forcing GrayWolfSkyborne to retreat repeatedly. But FierceSnake's health kept dropping, leaving everyone stunned.

Each of FierceSnake's attacks was easily blocked by GrayWolfSkyborne's shield, followed by a counter slash.

FierceSnake couldn't understand how he kept getting hit, despite trying to dodge and block.

Even when GrayWolfSkyborne attacked, FierceSnake couldn't avoid or block it.

GrayWolfSkyborne's attacks seemed to disappear mid-swing and reappear suddenly, making them impossible to dodge or block, leaving FierceSnake helpless as his health dwindled.

"Damn it."

With his health below 1000, FierceSnake had no choice but to activate Blood Fury.

If he didn't, he wouldn't have the strength to fight back.

But even with Blood Fury, his attacks were like a baby wielding a sword against GrayWolfSkyborne. GrayWolfSkyborne didn't even need his shield, dodging every attack effortlessly. FierceSnake's swings seemed to avoid GrayWolfSkyborne, never landing a hit.

FierceSnake was on the verge of collapse.

This left Isabella and Scarlet in the audience stunned.

They knew FierceSnake's strength, yet he was being toyed with. Even Isabella couldn't do such a thing.

"Who is this guy?" Isabella couldn't believe Jake had found such a powerful ally. This skill level was comparable to Aether Wing's leader, Reaper, and his Black Flame sword.

In the arena, GrayWolfSkyborne casually approached FierceSnake, delivering two swift slashes, leaving FierceSnake lying on the ground in defeat.

The difference in their skill levels was worlds apart.

"Isabella is definitely going to lose. The difference in their allies is like night and day."

"But that's fate. Not everyone has the chance to meet such a master."

"If Jake becomes the guild leader, he might bring such a master into our guild, which would be hugely beneficial for our future."

The elders of Devouring Serpents in the audience admired GrayWolfSkyborne's performance, filled with hope for the future, while Isabella's side had none.
