Chapter 377 Silence Unknown

Eric stared at Sharon's stats for what felt like forever, completely dumbfounded.

Sharon had gone from being an 8th-level NPC in Willowbrook Town to a 20th-level Tier 3 Divine Officiant, and then from a 20th-level Tier 3 Divine Officiant to a 180th-level Tier 3 Divine Officiant.

Now, unbelievably, she was a 200th-level Tier 4 Divine Officiant.

Her power was now on par with a Tier 4 Archmage Wiseman.

"Sharon, what do you need from me?" Eric finally asked, though he wasn't thrilled about it.

Whenever he dealt with Sharon, Eric always felt like his wallet was in jeopardy, especially when she flashed that holy smile...

Eric felt like he should've gone to Eldoria City instead.

"I do need your help with something, but it has to be done inside Moonlit Ravine. Outsiders aren't usually allowed in, and letting you in is a big risk for me. But since we know each other, I can cover half of the 1,000 gold entry fee for you. You'll have to pay the remaining 500 gold yourself, or the black-clad knights will kick you out. Even I can't help you then," Sharon sighed, spreading her hands.

Eric shot her a look of disdain.

Always about the money!

This was the first time he'd heard of an entry fee for Moonlit Ravine.

He had only brought a little over 700 gold with him, and now 500 of it was gone.

Eric felt a pang of regret but had no choice but to pay.

Sharon was too cunning, always exploiting his weaknesses. He needed to enter Moonlit Ravine to find three Tier 4 NPCs. Although he had other plans, they were uncertain and time-consuming.

Reluctantly, Eric took out 500 gold coins from his backpack and handed them all to Sharon.

"What kind of look is that? It's just a deposit; you'll get it back," Sharon said, smiling happily as she pocketed the glittering coins with a wave of her hand.

Eric mentally cursed her.

If it was a deposit, why give it to you and not the Starview Tower's manager?

Sharon seemed to read his mind, smiling as she pulled out a Silver Moon badge and pinned it to her chest. The badge read "Starview Tower Manager."

"How many roles does she have?" Eric thought, realizing the 500 gold was gone for good, with no hope of getting it back.

It was indeed an entry fee.

And a hefty one at that...

"Now you understand, I didn't deceive you, silly," Sharon said, pointing to the badge with a smile. "Alright, follow me."

Eric sighed and followed Sharon upstairs.

As for the matter of the Sword in the Stone, he could deal with it after completing Sharon's task.

The second floor of Moonlit Ravine was filled with locked rooms, resembling an apartment complex. The hallway led to a massive stone door, intricately carved with countless patterns, each telling its own story. Together, they formed the door.

"Behind that door lies the deepest secret of Starview Tower. Want to take a look?" Sharon asked, pointing to the door, as if reading Eric's thoughts.

"Can I go in?" Eric asked, his curiosity about Starview Tower piqued.

In Divine Realms: Legends, any ancient site that survived the Great Cataclysm was a goldmine, especially one as well-preserved as this. Uncovering its secrets could significantly ease his path to godhood. But in his previous life, Eric lacked the power to explore it.

"Of course not. Let me remind you, some things are better left unknown until you're strong enough. Like opening the Abyssal Rift Valley's entrance and now carrying the Holy Mark, aiming to gather the Seven Supreme Treasures—it's suicidal. Do you know how many years Crystal Palace spent trying to collect the Seven Supreme Treasures?"

"How could someone like you, not even Tier 1, possibly achieve that?"

"They're just trying to..."

"Forget it, you shouldn't know."

Sharon seemed to know everything, looking at Eric with a mix of pity and frustration.

Eric realized Sharon was a special NPC, feeling more like a human than a high-intelligence character.

Sharon then led Eric to her room.

The room was simple, with bookshelves filled with ancient texts not found elsewhere.

"Sit," Sharon said, waving her hand to conjure a wooden chair behind Eric. "I brought you here to ask you to do something. It's impossible for us, but you Heaven's Favored can do it. It's very dangerous. Are you willing to accept?"

"If you do, I can offer you a chance for high-level inheritance, which will greatly aid your growth. If you complete the task, I can make you a city lord with your own territory."

Sharon's words left Eric speechless.

Just accepting the task would grant high-level inheritance, and completing it would make him a city lord. What kind of task was this?

System: Will the player accept Sharon's unknown task?

"Looks like I won't know what to do unless I accept."

Seeing Sharon's serious expression and the unknown task, Eric felt uncertain.

He knew one iron rule in Divine Realms: Legends.

Equivalent exchange.

The higher the reward, the greater the risk.

High-level inheritance was extraordinary, let alone the reward of becoming a city lord.

He could forgo the inheritance, but the city lord reward was too valuable to pass up. Missing this chance might mean never getting another.

Being a city lord didn't mean controlling NPC cities like Silvervale City, which were never fully under player control.

Sharon's offer meant giving players territory to build their own city.

Typically, a guild needed to conquer a town not managed by the kingdom or start from scratch, which was harder and more resource-intensive. But it allowed choosing the location for strategic advantage.

After establishing a town, it took long development to upgrade to a city, with many stringent conditions.

Sharon's reward bypassed these hurdles, saving countless troubles.
