Chapter 81 Eric's Strength Rapidly Increases
Eric was stunned after reading the new System prompt.
It turned out that Mayor Blackbeard's favorability had increased to 1000 points, reaching the level of Reverence.
System: [Congratulations to player Kai Blackthorn for being the first to achieve NPC favorability of Reverence. Reward: Dark Iron-tier Chest.]
"I am incredibly fortunate. I can't wait to see what I will get," Eric exclaimed eagerly as he opened the exquisite Dark Iron-tier Chest.
Inside the chest was a piece of equipment and an accessory.
Cloak of the Shadowhunt, Mithril level, required 70 agility to equip, Defense +20, Strength +4, Agility +8, Stamina +4, Movement +2, Evasion +6, with the ability Silent Stride, allowing the user to silently move behind the target up to 120 feet away, with a cooldown of 3 minutes.
Pendant of the Loremaster, Dark Iron level, required 30 intelligence to equip, level 7, Intelligence +6, Stamina +2, Magic Damage increased by 5%.
These two pieces of equipment were very rare at the moment, especially the Cloak of the Shadowhunt. It was perfect for the weapon class profession. As long as Eric wore it, his strength would increase significantly. The Silent Stride skill was just like a mage's teleportation or an assassin's Shadowstep, making it a perfect piece of equipment for PvP.
The Pendant of the Loremaster was an even more excellent accessory. Just the 5% magic damage increase made it something a magic class can wear up to level 20 without feeling outdated.
'This accessory should go to Tonny.' Eric thought. Tonny was the most dependable member of the team and also belonged to a magic class. However, he couldn't wear the cloak just yet, as the 70 agility requirement was too high for him. He would have to wait until at least level 10.
Seeing these items, Eric suddenly remembered he was already level 5. With the attributes of the Abyssal Blade, adding six free attribute points to strength would allow him to wear the Silver Moon set.
Wearing the best set for a Swordsman below level 10 at level 5 made Eric's attributes nearly invincible, making his subsequent tasks much more accessible.
Then, Eric added all his free attribute points to strength and took out and wore the Silver Moon five-piece set because his level had reached 5, he unlocked the Swordsman's dual-wield talent, allowing him to equip two One-Handed Swords. He then equipped the Mithril Level Crimson Edge, which had been in storage, on his off-hand. After equipping everything, Eric was amazed at his attributes. Perhaps there was no other player in all of Divine Realms: Legends with such remarkable attributes, let alone the effects of the Silver Moon five-piece set.
Effect 1: Attack +15, Defense +30.
Effect 2: Increases health by 10%, Level 2 Life Shield, which absorbs 60% of damage up to 500, with a cooldown of 5 minutes.
Effect 3: Reduces all damage taken by 10% and increases attack speed by 10%.
Eric now had nearly 1000 health points. With these three effects, he could tank better than an MT, and his damage output was significantly improved.
In silver-white armor, with the Abyssal Blade hanging on one side of his waist and the Crimson Edge on the other, Eric looked like a heroic adventurer.
With plenty of time before his appointment with Isabella, Eric took on two high-level quests in Hammerstone Village, both involving hunting 10th-level Bicranium Serpents. He needed 20 serpent gallbladders and 30 venomous fangs. Completing the quests would earn him rare ores and forging materials, essential for crafting Dark Iron Equipment and weapons, which were usually hard to find.
After 20 minutes of jogging, Eric finally arrived at a desert oasis surrounded by a group of Bicranium Serpents.
Bicranium Serpent, Common Level, level 10, 950 health points.
Althought Bicranium Serpents had low health, ordinary level 10 players couldn't kill them alone and usually needed help.
Once monsters in Divine Realms: Legends reached level 10, they underwent a qualitative change, becoming much more flexible and defensive, unlike below level 10. Without extensive combat experience, ordinary players found it hard to block or dodge their attacks. Additionally, monster attacks often came with special skills, which could easily lead to a player's death.
Bicranium Serpent's attack pattern usually involved one head attacking and another defending, making it hard for a single player to inflict damage. Coupled with the Venomous Fang Strike skill, which poisoned players for 50 health points per second for 15 seconds, it was almost a death sentence for ordinary players without an antidote.
Eric slowly approached.
Before he got within 60 feet, a man-high Bicranium Serpent hissed and rushed towards Eric. Since he was discovered, Eric charged forward.
Wind-chasing Sword!
The Abyssal Blade turned into a black streak, striking at the Bicranium Serpent's vital spot. The serpent reacted quickly, one head biting the Abyssal Blade and immobilizing it, while the other head, with venomous fangs dripping green poison, lunged at Eric.
Eric deftly swung the Crimson Edge with his free hand, transforming it into a blazing red streak that struck the serpent.
The Bicranium Serpent was knocked back, taking over 60 damage, while Eric lost only around ten health points. He didn't step back, and the Abyssal Blade slashed at the defenseless serpent's belly, dealing 96 damage and activating the Abyssal Blade's ability, significantly reducing the serpent's attributes.
But it wasn't over yet. Eric followed up with the Crimson Edge, striking the serpent's vital spot again and dealing 112 damage.
By the time the Bicranium Serpent reacted, its health was halved.
As one head of the serpent lunged towards Eric, he swiftly sidestepped and charged forward, effectively preventing the other head from defending itself.
Double Slash!
Both the Abyssal Blade and Crimson Edge deeply cut into the serpent's belly, leaving two long gashes.
Two damage numbers, -156, -132, popped up, along with a bleeding debuff.
The Bicranium Serpent tried to counterattack, but before it could reach Eric, it bled to death.
System: [Killed Bicranium Serpent, 5-level higher kill, experience increased by 500%, gained 1000 experience.]
The Bicranium Serpent dropped a gallbladder for Eric.
Throughout the kill, Eric mostly used regular attacks, easily taking down a level 10 monster. However, he wasn't entirely satisfied, especially since his first strike had been blocked. Otherwise, his combo could have finished the serpent in one go.
Eric then started looking for his next target.
An hour later, Eric had successfully slain over forty Bicranium Serpents, elevating his experience to 81% of level 5. His leveling speed was like a rocket, faster than forging equipment.
He couldn't help but marvel at how easy it was to kill higher-level monsters with the Silver Moon set and two top-tier weapons. At this rate, he would reach level 6 within an hour."Still need three more gallbladders and five more fangs, but this area's Bicranium Serpents are all dead. It might take a while for them to respawn," Eric looked around, finding no more serpents.
Eric decided to head to another area to farm Bicranium Serpents.
However, as he took a few steps, three Bicranium Serpents emerged from the oasis, with one among them being larger in size and adorned with horns on its head - the Serpent King patrolling its territory.
"Rare elite?" Eric eyed the Serpent King, licking his lips and smiling. Rare elites weren't common, appearing randomly, stronger than regular elites, and dropping excellent items. Encountering one was a stroke of luck for any player.
