Chapter 220 Fourth-Level Magic Scroll
In StellarTrails Emporium's first-floor reception hall.
Unlike ordinary shops, this place specialized in large-scale intercity business. It had dedicated reception rooms and a sales area on the first floor, dealing in everything from clothes, weapons, potions, alchemical items, to magic scrolls—almost like a supermarket in the real world.
The emporium was different from an auction house because the auction house fees were too high, making prices significantly more expensive than those in city shops and stores. Earning money in Divine Realms: Legends was already difficult, and losing 15% to the auction house was unacceptable for most players. Therefore, most players preferred to spend more time buying and selling in shops and stores rather than going to the auction house.
"Dear sir, is there anything I can help you with?" An elegant and beautiful lady at the counter looked at Eric and asked with a sweet smile.
"I'm here to see Mr. Spencer. Could you please tell Mr. Spencer that the esteemed Lady Sharon sent me?" Eric said.
"Please wait a moment, I will notify the president right away."
StellarTrails Emporium was quite wealthy; even the receptionist at the counter could directly take out an expensive multi-colored communication crystal to convey Eric's message.
After waiting for a few minutes, the receptionist said, "Dear Mr. Kai Blackthorn, the president is waiting for you in the president's office on the third floor."
"Thank you." Eric then walked towards the distant spiral staircase.
When he arrived at the president's office on the third floor, two level 150 guards stood at the door, making it impossible for ordinary players to enter.
In the previous life, countless guild executives had lined up here, hoping to meet Mr. Spencer and rent a floor from StellarTrails Emporium for business. Unfortunately, they never even saw Mr. Spencer's back.
Seeing Eric approach, the two tall and strong guards directly opened the heavy mahogany door.
In the luxurious and spacious president's office, a dignified and elegant man in his fifties had been waiting for some time. This man was Henry Spencer, the president of StellarTrails Emporium and a well-known tycoon in Silvervale City.
"Mr. Kai Blackthorn, please have a seat." Henry pointed to the couch in front of him when he saw Eric.
"Mr. Spencer, this is the contract Lady Sharon asked me to bring to you." After sitting down, Eric took out the contract from his backpack and handed it to Henry for inspection.
"No need, Lady Sharon already informed me of your arrival before you came. I've heard a lot about you from her; you are truly accomplished at a young age," Henry praised repeatedly. "Now that you are here, I am relieved."
"What do you mean by that, Mr. Spencer?" Eric looked puzzled, not understanding what Henry was talking about.
'What exactly did Sharon tell him?' Eric couldn't help but wonder.
"Didn't Lady Sharon tell you?" Henry asked curiously. "This contract is an agreement between me and Lady Sharon. If you can save StellarTrails Emporium from its current crisis, you will receive 20% of the emporium's shares and a Tier 4 magic scroll obtained from ancient ruins."
"20% of the shares and a Tier 4 magic scroll?" Eric's expression stiffened slightly.
He realized Sharon was really ruthless; she wanted him to solve the crisis, and she would get 20% of the shares and a Tier 4 magic scroll.
"That's right. Lady Sharon told me that if you can resolve this crisis, the Tier 4 magic scroll will be yours," Henry nodded.
"May I ask what kind of magic scroll it is?" Eric was very curious about the Tier 4 magic scroll.
In the previous life, the most powerful magic scroll Eric had seen was only a Tier 4 scroll. If sold, its minimum value would be 500 gold, and if it were a very powerful Tier 4 scroll, it could sell for over 1,000 gold. However, players who obtained Tier 4 magic scrolls generally wouldn't sell them.
"It's a Tier 4 teleportation scroll that can instantly teleport you anywhere. However, this is a kind of ancient technology that we cannot replicate now. There is only one such scroll in all of Eldoria, making it extremely precious," Henry Spencer said proudly. This scroll was his prized possession, and he wouldn't have taken it out as a reward if the emporium weren't in such dire straits.
Hearing Henry Spencer's explanation, Eric understood somewhat.
If it was really a Tier 4 teleportation scroll, it could instantly teleport to Abyssal Grotto, saving the trouble of searching. No wonder Sharon was so confident.
"Mr. Spencer, what crisis do you want me to resolve for your emporium?" Eric asked.
"Actually, our emporium had a batch of valuable goods stolen by bandits, causing us significant losses. To compensate for those goods, we had to pay a large sum of money, putting our emporium on the brink of collapse. We hope you can help us resolve this crisis; otherwise, our emporium will go bankrupt in a month," Henry explained slowly.
"So, Mr. Spencer, you want me to eliminate those bandits and retrieve the goods?"
"That would be ideal."
"Which bandit group stole your goods?"
"The ShadowScorpion Legion in Shadowpeak Highlands, led by ShadowScorpion, a level 180 Tier 3 Shadow Warrior. If you can eliminate him and retrieve the goods, that would be perfect."
Hearing Henry mention a Tier 3 Shadow Warrior, even Eric, who used to be calm, almost lost his composure.
Asking him to deal with a Tier 3 profession now was a death sentence. Even in two years, it wouldn't be possible, let alone in a month.
This was completely a joke!
Eric originally thought the Epic Level difficulty had been lowered, but this was beyond lowering; it was breaking the bottom line.
Seeing Eric's troubled expression, Henry slowly said, "If you find it too difficult, there is a second option, which is also why Lady Sharon sent you."
Hearing there was a second option, Eric's expression improved slightly.
"We also think it's impossible to retrieve the goods. The only way is to earn 30,000 gold within a month to save StellarTrails Emporium."
Henry chuckled and continued, "Lady Sharon always praised you as a business genius. With your management, I believe StellarTrails Emporium can achieve this."
Seeing Henry's expectant eyes, Eric wanted to curse.
Just because he was a wealthy player didn't mean he had to be a business genius.
Earning 30,000 gold in a month, considering the time when the demons would appear, was less than thirty days, at most twenty days. Even if he earned over a hundred gold a day now, ten days would only be a thousand gold, and thirty days would be just over three thousand gold, far from thirty thousand!
Needless to say this was still the early stage of Divine Realms: Legends; players couldn't earn much money.
Thirty thousand gold was equivalent to the total income of millions of players in Silvercrest Dominion for seven or eight days. How could he manage to earn that?
Eric now wished he was a bandit himself.
No, even if he became a bandit, he couldn't rob that much!
Before Eric could refuse, a System prompt appeared.
System: [Player has accepted the second stage of the Epic Level quest 'Gospel Initiative.' Quest content: Player becomes the manager of StellarTrails Emporium and earns 30,000 gold within a month to resolve the emporium's crisis. Quest reward: Unknown.]
