Chapter 82 Slaying the Bicephalous Serpent Monarch
Bicephalous Serpent Monarch, along with two of its subordinates, slowly approached Eric's direction, unaware of his presence in the bushes. It swayed its tail confidently, held its head high with arrogance, and looked down upon its territory.
The two ordinary Bicranium Serpents following closely behind did not share the same arrogance as the Bicephalous Serpent Monarch. Instead, they assumed the role of bodyguards, their cold eyes scanning the surroundings. At the slightest hint of disturbance, they would become the sharp swords of the Bicephalous Serpent Monarch, ready to eliminate any potential threats.
Eric quietly watched the Bicephalous Serpent Monarch approach and then turned away. He did not act immediately but instead followed stealthily, casting an Insightful Gaze and waiting for the optimal terrain.
Bicephalous Serpent Monarch, Rare Elite, Level 10, Health Points 4000.
The two Bicranium Serpent guards were ordinary monsters, Level 10, Health Points 1400. Confronted with three Level 10 monsters simultaneously, one of them being a Rare Elite, even Eric, adorned in a complete set of Silver Moon gear, had to strategize meticulously. After all, two hands are no match for four, and serpents are incredibly fast, especially the Serpent Monarch.
Upon trailing them to a sandstone area where a few human-sized rocks could block the view, Eric finally made his move.
Confronting three Bicranium Serpents simultaneously put Eric at a disadvantage; he had to strategize and separate them, focusing on eliminating the regular monsters first.
Eric immediately used Phantom Slay, positioning his clone on high alert, while he himself charged forward, thrusting a Wind-chasing Sword at the nearest Bicranium Serpent guard. The speed boost and surprise attack of the Wind-chasing Sword left the Bicranium Serpent guard unable to react, taking two hits to the back, causing -76 and -61 damage. Eric then used a double slash, dealing an additional -103 and -89 damage with a bleeding effect. With his top-tier equipment and high-level skills, Eric inflicted significant damage on the heavily armored Bicranium Serpent guard. For an average Level 5 player, encountering foes with formidable defense and level suppression would typically result in inflicting only three or four points of damage. The Bicranium Serpent guard howled in pain and turned to attack, with the other guard also joining in, striking simultaneously.
Eric smiled slightly and executed a Thunderbolt Slash, sending three electric arcs one after another. However, the Bicranium Serpent guard reacted swiftly, blocking with one head while the other head lunged to bite.
The three electric arcs were blocked, causing no damage.
As he witnessed the venomous fangs closing in, Eric swiftly employed Parry and activated Zephyr Stride, successfully blocking one attack before swiftly turning to flee.
The two Bicranium Serpent guards naturally would not let their enraged enemy escape, swiftly pursuing him. The remaining Bicephalous Serpent Monarch, eyes cold with extreme anger, also swung its tail and chased after them.
But before they had run many feet, Eric's clone lunged with a Wind-chasing Sword, slashing at the serpent's neck and causing 24 points of damage, enraging the Bicephalous Serpent Monarch. It struck at the clone with lightning speed.
The clone, having achieved its goal, also activated Zephyr Stride and turned to flee. This separated the Serpent Monarch from its guards. Although the guards were brutal, without the Serpent Monarch's support, they couldn't withstand Eric's fierce attacks. His every move hit the Bicranium Serpent guards' vital points. With the Silver Moon set, Eric's agility exceeded 60 points. Even if the guards defended in time, they would be struck by his other sword, each hit taking away 60 to 70 health points and critical hits dealing over 150 damage.
Continuous sword strikes, like a storm, rained down on the two Bicranium Serpent guards, rapidly depleting their health. In no time, both guards were dead.
Having picked up the fallen items, Eric swiftly charged towards the Bicephalous Serpent Monarch.
At this point, the clone's health was below 30%, and they were struggling to hold off the Bicephalous Serpent Monarch. Its attack speed was breakneck, occasionally spewing poisonous mist over a large area. The clone, with only 50% of Eric's attributes, could only defend and flee; otherwise, its health would have been depleted long ago.
But now that Eric himself had arrived, the clone was no longer needed for distraction. Eric used Nine Dragon Cleave, sending nine phantom Abyssal Blades flying, and then activated Swordsoar Ascension, significantly increasing his attack range.
Facing the venom-spewing Bicephalous Serpent Monarch, Eric could only attack from a distance. Standing in the poisonous mist to attack the Serpent Monarch would be fatal in less than twenty seconds, even with a life shield.
The Bicephalous Serpent Monarch was highly cunning. One head blocked Eric's attacks, while the other continued to assault the clone, ignoring Eric. After three or four attacks, the clone finally dissipated.
With the Bicephalous Serpent Monarch still having over 70% of its health, it turned to Eric and spat venom like an arrow.
Eric's face darkened. He sidestepped to avoid the venom.
The venom struck the sandstone, instantly searing through it and leaving behind a large hole. This was the Bicephalous Serpent Monarch's Corrosive Acidic Eruption. If a player tried to block it with a weapon, Mithril Level weapons might fare better, but Common Level Weapons would melt instantly, and Bronze Level Weapons would lose at least half their durability, breaking after two hits.
Thus began a long-range battle of attacks and dodges. Eric's frenzied sword swings created a dazzling display of light in the area, while the Bicephalous Serpent Monarch's heads continuously spewed venom, leaving numerous craters and occasionally filling the area with poisonous mist, rendering it barren.
After engaging in battle for over ten minutes, Eric found himself occasionally poisoned and had only 8% of his health left despite drinking essential recovery potions as soon as their cooldowns ended. The Bicephalous Serpent Monarch had 14% of its health remaining.
With both sides low on health, the Bicephalous Serpent Monarch showed a ferocious look, its body slightly enlarging. It leaped into the air, one head opening wide to reveal gleaming fangs, while the other head spewed poisonous mist, using an all-out attack mode. Getting close meant being trapped in the deadly mist.
"Are you going all out?" Eric could withstand the poisonous mist for at most three seconds or one attack from the Bicephalous Serpent Monarch. He took out a basic recovery potion from his backpack, drank it to restore 180 health points, and held a polymorph scroll in his other hand.
As the Bicephalous Serpent Monarch was about to land, he used the polymorph scroll.
Thunderbolt!
Slash!
Double Slash!
Earthshatter Strike!
A series of attacks left the Bicephalous Serpent Monarch with 5% health. However, it had reverted back, surrounded by poisonous mist. In the mist, the Bicephalous Serpent Monarch's recovery speed doubled while enemies rapidly lost health. Eric immediately retreated, using Abyssal Bind to immobilize the Serpent Monarch, and took out a Tier 1 magic scroll, Inferno Barrage, reciting the incantation.
Five giant fireballs crashed into the Bicephalous Serpent Monarch, depleting its remaining health and dropping four items.
System: Defeated Bicephalous Serpet Monarch, level 5 kill bonus, experience increased by 500%, awarded 5000 experience points.
Eric finally breathed a sigh of relief. A Level 10 Rare Elite was indeed challenging. Without the Silver Moon set and Tier 1 magic scroll, he would have died. Fortunately, he managed to kill it.
Among the four items, there was a Level 8 Dark Iron Priest staff, Melody of Vitality, with excellent attributes and a +1 recovery skill, making it a top-tier staff. Among the items was a Level 10 Bronze Cross Shield designed for MT, possessing average attributes. However, shields were a rarity, making it a valuable discovery. The last two items were the Serpent Monarch's gallbladder and skin, rare materials for making poison, and leather armor.
With the quest items collected, Eric rested briefly before turning in the quest, receiving rare forging materials and leveling up to 5, 91%, just shy of Level 6.
Checking the time, it was almost time for his appointment with Isabella, so Eric headed towards the Level 8 area, Physis Gorge.
