Chapter 353 Nightmare-level Boss
"Man, experience points are never enough, but this is the best I can do for now. If I keep leveling up, even dropping back to level 0 won't be enough," Eric said with a bitter smile, glancing at his level.
Level 21.
It was lower than his level before returning to Silvervale City, but his combat power was now much stronger than when he was level 34.
Turtledove and SwordShadow, standing beside Eric, were stunned.
A player dropping from level 34 to level 21 in such a short time? They even wondered if they were seeing things. How could a player lose levels on their own? They wanted to ask Eric, but felt too embarrassed, especially since they hadn't joined Aether Wing yet. How could they expect to know the guild's secrets?
Eric noticed their confusion but didn't explain. It was his secret, and revealing the Ring of Seven Luminaries would be irresponsible.
Just then, Eric received a system message.
System: Guild raid mission completed, Guild of Aether Wing's reputation increased by 30,000 points.
System: Congratulations on completing the guild raid mission. Reward: Silvervale City reputation 70 points, 5 million experience points.
Eric's level instantly returned to 22.
"Hey, boss, we've collected all the treasures from Stream Town. Everyone's reputation is over 100, reaching the noble standard. Even players with red names can enter the city without being stopped by guards. FlameDancer and the others can return to complete their class change quests," Rosewater reported in the team channel.
"Good, come back immediately and gather all Aether Wing members at the teleportation hall," Eric said, glancing at the intense battlefield with a faint smile.
Tonight was destined to be extraordinary, marking the complete rise of Aether Wing.
"Got it, we're heading back now," Rosewater replied, ending the communication without hesitation, fully trusting Eric's judgment.
After the call, Eric continued to stand quietly on the high building, watching the escalating battle below.
In less than an hour, the number of players had dropped from around 500,000 to tens of thousands, the carnage far exceeding expectations.
Anyone daring to approach the drop points was immediately killed, regardless of who they were. Even hundreds of players from a single guild faced the same fate.
It turned into a situation where neither side could collect the drops without eliminating the other.
As the number of players decreased, guilds began to show their advantages. Among the remaining players, guild members made up the majority, while solo players dwindled. Some, seeing no chance, withdrew from the battle.
Without interference from solo players, the major guilds sprang into action, each rushing to the drop points.
But no guild was willing to let others get the drops, leading to some members blocking while others tried to collect.
This sparked fights between the guilds.
"These drops belong to Darkstar Guild! You small guilds think you can compete with us?" RogueVortex shouted, smashing a small guild's Swordsman with his shield. "Assassins, go! Everyone else, cover them and collect the drops."
Dozens of Assassins rushed forward at top speed, while others provided cover, clearing the way.
"Think you can take them? Not without asking me first!" RedFeather led his team in a frenzied attack, closing in on the drop points.
Meanwhile, Imperial Radiance, Assassin's Alliance, and Supremacy Alliance were also fighting fiercely.
Though the major guilds were strong, the smaller guilds weren't foolish. They abandoned the heavily contested drop points and targeted less crowded areas, avoiding competition.
Watching the major guilds collect drop after drop, solo players were filled with envy.
But the faces of those who got the drops weren't happy.
After all the effort and sacrifices to secure the drops, they discovered that items had to be held for 2 hours to avoid dropping upon death...
"What the hell is this?" RogueVortex frowned at the items in his backpack.
They had fought relentlessly, sacrificing comrades, believing that once the items were secured, they were safe. Now, with only a fraction of their original force left, they were told it wasn't over, and the items could still be lost.
Everyone holding drop items felt like vomiting blood.
This change altered the rules of the battle.
Guilds immediately began transferring their members with drop items while sending more to kill others holding drops, making the scene even more chaotic.
In this fight, the guild with the most members had the greatest advantage, and Darkstar Guild, with the most survivors, had the most drops.
They had collected over ten items, totaling twenty-four, second only to Eric.
As RogueVortex led his team to escort the players with items into Silvervale City's safe zone, a shadow suddenly blocked his path.
"BlackFlame, are you brave or just stupid? You managed to escape but didn't hide with your items. Instead, you show up in front of me. Perfect, I'll kill you myself and take your items for Darkstar Guild."
RogueVortex recognized Eric immediately, sneering coldly. He waved his hand, sending hundreds of melee fighters charging, while the mages began casting spells and healers retreated, spreading out to avoid Eric's area attacks and magic suppression.
"President BlackFlame, feeling helpless against this formation? You're dead this time. Blame yourself for exposing too much in front of me," RogueVortex said smugly.
Eric smiled faintly at the formation.
Before upgrading the Ring of Seven Luminaries, this formation would have been troublesome. Hundreds of players spread out, beyond the range of Flame Storm and Absolute Time. Without magic suppression, prolonged combat would be fatal, leaving escape as the only option.
But now, things were different.
As hundreds of level 16-17 melee fighters charged from all directions, Eric activated the Ring of Time, casting Absolute Time with a 75-yard radius, covering most of the spread-out Darkstar Guild members. Those outside the range posed no threat.
Eric then switched the Ring of Seven Luminaries to the Ring of Fire, increasing damage by 40% and reducing target defense by 40%.
But it wasn't over. Eric activated Infernal Shadeblade's Infernal Fury, doubling attack speed and increasing damage by 30% for 15 seconds, then used Zephyr Stride to charge forward.
Facing the first level 17 Shield Warrior, Eric swung the Abyssal Blade lightly. The silver-gray blade turned into a silver-gray sword light, striking the Shield Warrior's chest before he could block with his shield, leaving a faint mark on his Dark Iron Level armor.
A critical hit of -3216 damage appeared above the Shield Warrior's head.
The level 17 Shield Warrior with over 2600 health was instantly killed.
Before the Shield Warrior hit the ground, Eric was already in front of a Berserker, slicing with one sword, leaving a shadow as he moved to the next Swordsman.
To onlookers, it seemed like a shadow passed through Darkstar Guild members, who then fell lifeless, their health depleted.
The shadow moved at an astonishing speed, taking only five or six seconds to pass through all the charging Darkstar Guild members.
When the shadow stopped, the hundreds of Darkstar Guild members were all dead, leaving behind a silent scene and dropped weapons and equipment.
Players watching from afar were stunned.
It was terrifying!
Like a lone gunslinger in a Western, taking down targets within ten steps, his name unknown a thousand miles away. Task complete, he brushed off his coat and vanished into the night. At this moment, everyone was deeply shaken by him.
"Are you human or a ghost?" RogueVortex stared in disbelief at the hundreds of dead Darkstar Guild elites, not understanding what had happened. Fear couldn't describe the situation.
"What do you think?" Eric's gaze shifted to RogueVortex, smiling faintly.
Seeing Eric's mocking smile, RogueVortex's heart raced, losing any thought of resistance. He wondered if Eric was a nightmare-level boss from Divine Realms: Legends, as no player could achieve this.
RogueVortex was in disarray, thinking only of escape.
Facing a nightmare-level boss, even ten lives wouldn't be enough.
But as RogueVortex turned, he found Eric already in front of him, the Abyssal Blade glowing like the sun, its heat seemingly ready to melt him.
Eric unleashed Pyroblast Burst, recently upgraded to level nine.
Before RogueVortex could react, the scorching Abyssal Blade struck his chest, engulfing him in hellish flames. A massive damage number appeared above his head, and he was launched like a meteor, burning to ashes before hitting the ground, dead beyond dead.
