Aria pov
We are woken early to head out. Gamma Jordan says the earlier we leave the sooner we are safe. So we pack up and head out. While putting things back in my bag I find the letter my mom wrote me. I try opening it again with no luck. Guess I'm not free enough yet. Putting back in my bag we head out this time in a van. Guess word got out to gamma Jordan that there were more of us. The twins look happy but charlie still looks so sad. Deciding to sit by him and maybe get him to talk might help so I heard. “are you okay?” o ask him. He looks at me with sad eyes tears almost spilling out. Shaking his head he just folds in on himself. I have no idea how to comfort him so I just let him be.
We have been driving for hours and my eyes are drooping. I trying to stay away but it's. Losing fight. The next thing I know I'm being shaken awake by Kari again. She's smiling at me warmly. “we are here aria.” She says causing me to look out the window. My eyes are wide at how beautiful it is here. We are driving down a one-lane dirt road with fields of wildflowers of every color on each side. Just beyond the fields are thick forests and from here I can see that they are perfect for running free with your wolf. I'm looking around as we slow down, coming into town and I can smell fresh bread in the air, my mouth watering as I look to Kari her eyes closed sniffing the air. Moaning she says “fresh bread oh my god are we in heaven?” giggling at her but feeling the same. Then Kade asks “what would it take to get you to stop for some fresh bread?” Looking like a five-year-old with hope in his eyes. Gamma Jordan laughs loudly and says “we have fresh warm bread delivered daily to the packhorse if we hurry we might beat the delivery van.” With excitement in his voice, Kade yells “then floor it.” Kari hits his arm glaring at him. “ I apologize gamma Jordan. I didn’t mean to offend you.” Laughing gamma Jordan says “ pup it's okay I was well informed about things you might and have gone through. Being excited about fresh bread won't ruffle my feathers. Yes, we want respect but it's earned here not demanded you'll soon find out. So first we will go to the main house each some freshly baked goodies then ill take you all to the medical wing where you'll all get checked out and given recovery plans if needed. Any questions?” charlie for the first time speaks up “what about rooms? Will we be sharing? And work assignments?” gamma Jordan sobers up looking in the rearview mirror. Stopping the can she turns to us. “ okay so I have heard you all were required to earn your keep in some not-so-nice ways. While, yes we ask that everyone help out in this pack we don’t assign work unless it’s a punishment for breaking rules. And that consists of extra chores or extra work out and cleaning the gym nothing too bad just time-consuming and downright boring. Trust me on that. You will be free to choose what work you do or your passion. Say you want to be a chef well you can go to school for that and work in the kitchens. Say you want to be a lawyer well you'll go to school for that and choose a job here in the pack. You all get paid for your work. And I mean everyone does. If you choose to be a warrior only we have many jobs in that field in the pack and out. This isn't a prison or a work camp this is a family.” Looking us each in the eye.
We get to the packhorse no that is not right it's like a ten-star hotel with big oversized dark doors with wolves standing pound carved in them. They look to be guarding the entry above them is a full moon split by the doors each door having half the moon. Makes me think of a saying I heard once “alone we are strong but together we shine bright. Just as the van comes to a stop the front door is thrown open by a mountain. He stalks over to the can opening the door. “any trouble gamma?” He grumbles out. Glaring at this man gamma Jordan huffs out “does it look like there was trouble delta?” “Joe don’t make me show you you're not too big to be spanked.” We all stare wide-eyed looking between them both when he starts laughing “ I'm sorry pups let me introduce myself I'm delta Brock Mathews and that one cousin.” “don’t mind-muscle head his bark is bigger than his bite.” She laughs at her self “now let's eat I smell fresh cinnamon rolls!” She says jumping out of the van running for the door. “how old are the ten?” Ava asks laughing at their antics. But the heavenly smell is so welcoming, I have to follow it.
Breakfast was amazing like how are these wolves not as big as horses with food like this? The twins and charlie each had three rolls to my one. But they melted in your mouth the dining room must have sounded like live-action porn with all the moaning coming from us. We have never had anything so good. Jumping up gamma Jordan says it's time to head to meet our medical team. This should be fun.
we are met with two she-wolves and two males one of each wearing a white jacket while the other two are just in scrubs. The she-wolf steps forward “hello I'm Dr. Alisa snow and this is my brother Dr. Edward sands. These are our nurses James Kent and Miranda pierce. If you young ladies would follow me and Miranda and the gentlemen go with Dr sands we can get through this relatively pain-free.” She says. we all go our separate ways. Miranda takes me into a room while Kari follows Dr snow into another room. Here Miranda takes my vitals and draws blood. “I can tell your gonna need to eat more honey. It will help your healing kick in better. Dr snow will be in shortly” she says.
Several hours later we are given recovery plans which include nutrition, physical exercise, mental, and emotional planes. We are all set to meet our teams to go over our plans in the next week. Until then we are free to get comfortable here in our rooms and new territory. In the next few days, we will go shopping for things we need mostly clothes none of us have many. I'm taken to a room that I know is Damien's I can smell his orange and dark chocolate everywhere but I can also smell the fading scent of rain and fresh grass on the bed doing things to my lower body.
They have spent time on the bed together could I hope in the way my mind wanders off to. Turning and looking at gamma Jordan I ask “Damien's room?” she smirks ya I got a message that the young alpha wants you to use this room till he comes back and y’all can talk face to face. He also wanted me to give you this.” She hands me a box. Taking it I open it “a phone?” my eyebrows shoot up. I've never had one before. “ya he wants to be able to have some sort of communication with you.” She shrugs “ asked me to have you text him when you get it and only text got safety. I put his number in already.” Biting my lower lip I look up at her wondering if I can ask her for help. “Ummm” I start but stop. Looking at me she says “ you can ask me anything.” “ okay well I've never had a phone before so….” I say. She blinks so fast like she can't believe what she just heard. Watching as realization washes over her she says “ awe, come here sweetheart ill show ya how to use it. Don’t worry you'll catch on in no time and be a slave to it just like the rest of us.” She states matter of factually. Giggling we sit cross-legged on the bed as she shows me how to use it.
