Chapter 4
we all look around when a small girl walks Coward. Her eyes are like the night sky but bigger. Stars shine in them. on instinct we all bow and drop to one knee. “oh no need to do that my children I just came to tell you how to finish the pack bond and give your pack a name.” she says looking around at us all. She comes to stand in front of my father. “your hand, please?”
Father places his hand in hers slicing his hand and hers. she lets 3 drops of her blood land in fathers hand. “with my blood I bless this pack a flower hidden in the shadows I name you the hidden flower pack.” father glows a bit then on his shoulder a black flower hidden behind a large wolf form's on his shoulder for all to see. “now to finish making the bond to your pack each one will come to you make a vow of loyalty then you both slice your palms and shake hands. Repeat this with everyone here above 13 winters. All under that will be bonded through their family bond.” her sing-song voice finishes and just like she showed up she was gone. The small girl started to fall to the ground but I rushed to her. Catching her in my arms.
Her mother came running to retrieve her daughter “already showing you will be a good leader thank you future alpha Jesse Cambell” she bows her head to me. I blush not knowing what to say it's all so new to me and everyone. “since you are here Judith why not start the line with you after I bond the beta family and my son?” father said to her. Her eyes snap to his and he smiles when she finally nods. Standing there the rest of the pack lined up behind her waiting to shake the hands of their new alpha and pledge loyalty to him and the pack.
Father looks to me “Jesse Allen Cambell do you pledge your loyalty to me as your alpha?” “yes I do” “your hand.” raising my hand to father he slices my hand with the dagger the goddess had used on him. He then slices his hand again dripping three drops in my hand. As his blood hits my hand I feel a snapping in my chest and a burn on my shoulder. looking up at my father's eyes I see the pride in them. Stepping aside I watch as he repeats this again and again. With each person, I feel a snapping in my chest and pressure in my head. Standing next to me just behind our fathers I notice she's wincing at the same time I am. Reaching down I grab her hand squeezing it letting her know I'm here. Betty who is standing next to Michael looks back at us seeing our hands. She steps back looking us in the eye “as soon as the last wolf pledges to the alpha that will stop it's just your bonds to your pack. I suspect that since this is a new pack it's a bit stronger than if it was just one or two wolves joining the pack.” with that we both lower our hands and welcome the bonds and pressure. In the back of my mind, I knew this was the case. She also confirmed that if we were a year old our wolves would have taken part of the pressure helping to level it faster than it is now. Once we get our wolves we will be able to mind-link with the other pack members.
Betty soon excuses herself from the pledging of wolves to head to the kitchen to start supper. With the last five families coming forward to pledge I elbow Mary in the ribs “once this is done we have to tell our fathers but let's do it in the house alone.” she nods. I step up to my father's side tapping my foot on his. He looks down at me and raises his eyebrow. “once this is done Mary and I need to talk to you two alone.” I whisper to him and he nods.
The last family steps up they were new to the farm. It's a mother and two young pups. Her mate was killed in an attack from another lone wolf looking for food. Father found her when she and the pups wandered into town. She and the pups had looked terrible so he brought her here and told her that hes sure Mrs, Jefferson could use some help in the kitchen if she needed a place to stay and work. She had been so grateful and agreed to come. After she was done she thanked her father again for helping her and promised to pay back all his kindness. He told her there was no need we are a family now and help each other out. She smiles bows her head and starts to walk away then stops “alpha?” “yes” “will you be having men training to fight if we need it?” “yes, I plan to do that.” : what about the women?” father thinks for a minute “what would you suggest Elizabeth?” “I would allow it, if for no other reason than to be able to defend ourselves and the pups.” “do you think the other women would want to do their daily chores and train?” he asks she nods her eyes full of hope I elbow him when he looks down I nod to Mary who is now the next beta and will have to train. He nods back “my son made a good point. Miss Mary will be a beta wolf until she finds her mate who will then take on the role. She will need to be able to fight alongside Jesse so I believe you are right. Also if we are all out in the field working and something was to happen y'all need to be able to put up a fight.” I dought her smile could get bigger before she says “I volunteer to train alpha and I will raise my boys to train and protect us as well.” I look down at her chubby pup “so Samuel hail what do you say wanna help me protect the pack one day?” I ask him and he nods up at me puffing out his little chest. Sticking my hand out to him “its a deal then” he places his hand in mine and we shake on it. When I look up I see tears in her eyes looking at me. She mouths a thank you before turning and heading back to my house where she helps in the kitchen.
“Alright lets head into the study and talk pup”
