Chapter 53
The bigger aria got the more wolves were showing up at the border. They all have the same story that is until one day when a lone wolf showed up looking out of place among the rest. The wolves that have been showing up have had nothing but the tattered clothes on their backs. The men are in worse shape than the wolves and the few pups that appear. This wolf looked almost clean as if he just rolled in the dirt to look like he was down and out like the others in his group. As I watch the group I notice the side glances and fear in the eyes of the others. Linking to the warriors and kings that this wolf looks off and so does the rest of his party. Having spent my whole life in fear of my father I was able to see that the wolves here were still in fear. So while walking back with the wolf we let him see the border patrol and the lack of guards around the path we took. I had a few of the younger wolves walk in the back and talk about how strong the pack is and how no one can get passed the patrols and go over how the patrols run. I watch as this unfolds. The majority of the group is looking around and relaxing a bit at the sight of more wolves. But he just keeps looking forward. I scan his body to see his hand tapping his thigh in the same spot. I watched a little while longer and notice every time a wolf is seen he taps. Give me an idea. Walking up to the she-wolf in the front who is clutching the pup to her like there is no tomorrow. I grab her arm and pull her to me her eyes snap to me. With my eyes, I signal back. A slight nod tells me she understands.
Looking at her then the pup gets what I need a distraction so she pinches its chubby little leg a little until it starts crying. Stopping the group and looking down at her she had tears in her eyes same as the pup. Motioning to her to hand it over she does, I can see the fear in her eyes but I also know her wolf is telling her to trust me. As I rock the pup I walk around the area telling the group to take a rest. I couldn’t risk a mink link and have my eyes glaze over so I started whistling to the guards. Soon I saw one of our scout wolves silently drop to a bush under a tree. I start murmuring to everyone it looked like I was comforting the pup but what I was doing was telling the wolf to have the rest of the warriors clear out no one is to be seen until we get to the packhouse. Then tell the kings to only have one of them at the steps. We have a spy looking to see what our patrol and guards look like. Not looking down I just stand by rocking the pup who is now back to sleep. The wolf taps my foot letting me know she linked everyone. Then taps twice with two fingers telling to give them all two minutes.
Walking back to the wolf who has been watching me closely as I have her pup and hand the little bundle to her. Hugging the pup to her she looks up at me with hope I nod slightly thanking her, I see tears in the corner of her eyes, but it was her stomach that told me to hurry up. Getting everyone back up and heading the rest of the way to the packhouse. We saw no other wolves along the walk but that didn’t mean they were not watching. The thing about wolves is they never look up and that's where we have the advantage. We have small wolves that aren't the strongest but fast and smart. Trained with silent weapons and good eyes and ears they take to the trees and scout from above. If this wolf was smart he would have seen at least two wolves in the trees. This was to see if he was paying attention and if he looked up he did not. So whoever he is reporting back to won't know about the trees. I hear a small vibration coming from his pocket telling me he has a phone. The vibration is so low you wouldn't normally hear it but I’m an alpha.
Getting to the packhouse Brendon is outside. Smart I think he is not at short-tempered as Damien. “is there a leader to this group?” he asks. With no surprise, the wolf in question spoke up. Brendon then tells a wolf to see the rest to the dining hall to eat and he and the leader will go talk. Not knowing what the plan is I just wait. Walking down the hall I notice it's the dungeon from the inside. As we are walking Brendon is making small talk with him but he is being overly loud. Then lemon and pine flooded the hall like cleaning supplies were spilled. The scent burns my nose before I can say anything I feel a small warm hand on my arm. Looking back I see Sharon and behind her Luna Bronwyn. Soon my smell is back to normal and I see both of their hands moving and lips saying something I don’t understand. A small white orb comes from both of their hand's meeting and becoming one before settling over the wolf. As we walk I watch as the orb slowly absorbs into the wolf. Just as the last of the light soaks in Sharon raises her hand and hits him in the back of the head with something I didn’t see. The wolf crumples to the ground. Just before the last door.
Two big wolves, Mark and Dean came through the door. Following them is Stephanie head of the prison. She looks like she is all of about eleven. She's a wolf you don’t mess with. She is small but deadly. She hides the strength well. She tells the boys to put him in cell seven and strap him in. Search him and strip him to his skives. Each grabbing afoot they drag him through the door and into the dark hall. She tells Brendon she will send word when he wakes up and will have all his belongings up soon. Down here this is her show and we all respect that. Nodding we head back upstairs. Luna Bronwyn asks if we all can meet in the office she had an idea.
