Chapter 42

Unknown pov

Running as fast as we can heading to the only place I can think of the shadow pack. The rogues came out of nowhere and hit us hard and fast. I can still hear the laughing of the wolf that seems to be in charge. I can still hear him telling the wolves to bring him the she-wolves and I don’t want to know why. I was lucky I wasn’t actually there when they attacked I had gone into town to pick up the online orders the pack made for the week. If I had been smart I would have noticed that the border was empty when I got back, but I was too busy singing along to the radio. I parked the truck at the back of the packhouse. Just as I was about to enter the house I hear wolves talking about bringing master alpha the she-wolves for him to claim as his slaves. My breath caught in my throat. I should have jumped back in the truck and taken off but no I had to try and find the she-wolves and see if I could help them. I noticed they were being taken to the dungeon. scared my adoptive family is there I head over slowly but I don’t make it far when I hear that cold evil voice “once you have all the she-wolves age 14 and up in the dungeon kill the rest make sure they see you do it so they know to do as I say” I hear a bunch of yes master alpha. What is a master alpha that's a new one for me and I spent a lot of time in the library reading and trying to find out what pack I came from?

I was taken in as a baby by the gamma family. They raised me as their own. I grew up close friends with the alpha and beta families. They had offered to name me as their heir and it would guarantee me a spot on the warrior guard. As much as I liked that Idea I always had a feeling I needed to find out where I came from so they supported me in that. Jay being the future alpha told me no matter what always had a home here just as long as I kept up my training. Finding him and Shelly tied up behind the packhouse I make my way to them. Slowly they see me and keep looking out as I make my way to them. Father always told me to keep a pocket knife in my shoe “you never know when you cant shift son. What if you are in town around humans you cant use your claws.” he was a smart man. So when I made it to them I slit the ropes, the three of us knowing we can't do anything more head to the woods. Finding our childhood cave slipping inside to gather what snacks we kept there and giving jay time to link his dad. His eyes glaze over so Shelly and I gather things putting them in the special bags I have been working to design. They look like backpacks but the straps will stretch if we shift keeping the bag on our backs leaving our mouths and teeth to fight if needed and still keep our things. Once we have all three bags packed with food clothes and sleeping bags, you never know when you might need one. Jay dropping his head tears in his eyes I know things are bad. Looking over he says “father just verbally passed the title and took his life leaving me alpha.” I see the tear run down his cheek. We know that with the way the attack happened it was the only way for him to keep the pack. For once I thank the goddess Shelly preferred dressing like us and not a she-wolf I think this is why she was tied up with jay and not with the other females. “father said to run and get out. I just don’t know where to go.” jay tells us. “we head to the shadow pack. The new royals will help us I’m sure of it.” telling him just know deep down that is the best place to go.

Heading north to the shadow pack we push ourselves hard not wanting to take a break. Along the way, we stop at every border we come across and tell them what happened so that they are prepared for the fight or smart like us and head to the royals. The first few nights jay would curl up in pain as the bonds of wolves were being cut from the pack. All we could do was hold him and grieve for our family. “we are all that's left of the hidden flower pack. Jay and Shelly are both 17 and myself just 18 ourselves. Trying our best to take some of the pain from jay as we cuddle up to him. “we will rebuild the pack and make them all proud of us jay I promise. We will always be by your side.” I no longer desire to find where I came from I need to be with the only family I have left cause I am the only family they have as well. Taking my phone out looking for a signal so we can pinpoint where we are and find the fastest route to the shadow pack. Things would have been easier if we had the alpha's phone and could just call them but nope we have mine. Jay has an idea of where the pack is due to his studies but again no idea how to call them so we rely on the maps, I locate the green lake forest reserve and I know that is close to the shadow pack as that is a pack land I remember reading about. The pack is under a new alpha appointed by the queen herself. “I bet if we go to the green lake the alpha there would be able to get a hold of the queen she did appoint him herself,” I say not looking up from the phone Shelly gives her agreement and we set off knowing this is the best shot we have to find the royals.

Three days have passed and we finally make it to the green lake pack lands but there are no wolves at the border. The only reason I know we hit the pack lands was the scent change in the air. Getting to the center we find burnt buildings and the smell of death still in the air. Feeling like our last hope was now lost when I hear a sound coming from the other side of what I am guessing is the packhouse. We slowly walk over to where the noise is coming from to find several humans going through the ruble sorting it into piles. “excuses us.” I say startling them as they look around. One pulled a gun pointing it at us, “who are you and what are you doing here?” he says raising our hands to show we are not armed and plan to stay that way. Shelly steps forward “we came here looking for the man that is supposed to be living here. We were hoping he could help us get in contact with someone that could help us. Do you know where we could find him.” the man looks at her overlooks back at one of the other guys “your wolves right?” surprising us when he says that we say nothing but it's like he knows. “your young to young to be alone. Let me see if I can get a hold of alpha Daniel.” this again shocks us since when do humans call us by title. Feeling no threat from them we sit down to show we don’t plan to do anything but wait. Talking to each other trying to figure out how they know about us and why they call him by title.

“alpha wants to know who you are.” the man states “I am alpha jay hill this is beta Shelly walker and that is our friend Adam Lange. We are from the hidden flower pack,” the man tells this to the person on the phone turning and walking away so we can hear what he is saying. We wait for him to finish his call. “okay the alpha said to bring you to town and put you in a room for the night he will have someone come get you tomorrow and meet with you” he tells us and we nod but then the other men come up with their hands out for our bags.
