Daniel pov
Heading down to dinner with the pack I am in good spirits. It has been a good day and I am happy with how things have ended so far. I notice Bridget invited Isaac to dinner with us. I am going to have to ask her what is going on there. “have you noticed how Bridge is spending a lot of time with that Isaac kid?” Noah links me I just nod. Damien let us use the ballroom as a dining hall until we leave. I had asked him if there was a room big enough to have the whole green lake pack eat as one for dinners. I told him my plan to make this a nightly thing. Since it is something they do he was more than happy to help me out.
Getting to the head table and taking our seats all the wolves have stood up with heads bowed. “no, no none of that we are family please sit” I tell them they all look shocked but sat down. Once everyone is sat and we all have food in front of us I address them. “first I want to thank those who made supper it looks and smells amazing.” I smile at them all. I see a few she-wolves blush. “I want to make this a nightly thing. I want us to bond and be a family as we should be. What do you think?” I ask them. This got more shocked looks that I asked them for input. A small hand raises and her mother is trying to pull it down “what is it little one?” I say looking at her. “um alpha-like we all eat together every night?” she asks sounding almost scared. “yes little one. We would all gather here every night and share dinner. Would you like that?” smiling at her she blushes bright and nods. Another she-wolf, Vicky I think her name is “who are you assigning to do the cooking and cleaning alpha?” she asks then lowers her eyes. I hate they feel they must act like that for me but the time it will take time to fix this. One day we will be a strong independent happy healthy pack. “I didn’t plan to assign anyone.” gasps are heard “I was planning to ask for volunteers for it. I want you to do it cause you like to and want to not because I told you to do it.” I tell them all as I take a bite of my steak and moan out with how good it is. “this is the best steak I have ever had. Who made it?” I ask out joy all over my face. A teenage wolf raises his hand “I did alpha” I can hear how nervous he is. “you are amazing. This is so good. Where did you learn to cook?” I instantly see his chest swell with pride even if there is still a sock on his face. “I taught myself I love to cook and want to learn more,” he says then covers his mouth. “I will see if the new school will have a cooking program you can join when it's up and running,” I tell him his face lights up. I can see the others are starting to relax.
“for the practice, you can cook any of the meals for us as you want. When your not in school or training that is.” I tell him and Noah laughs making everyone look at him. I raise my eyebrow at him “I think once he has some more training under his belt like he wants we have our head chef. What your name?” shock is all over his face along with hope “Connor, Lune” he almost whispers out. “well it's nice to meet you Connor” I say to him. “so back to family dinner yes or no?” I ask. Watching as they all look around at each other and I see a few nods. When one of the older she-wolves stands up “alpha I think I speak for us all when I say we would like that. And I will volunteer to run the kitchen until Connor wants to take over” she says. I remember this wolf she was in blood moon her name is carol and from what I can remember she was head of the cleaning crew. “thank you carol and you have the kitchen how many helpers would you need?” I ask her. Sitting back down I see her thinking about her answer. As she thinks we continue to eat when a young wolf raises his hand. Looking to him “you don’t need to raise your hand to speak here. None of you do if you want to ask something just ask if you want to say something just say it we are family. I'm here to guide and protect you not rule you.” I know it will make me tell them this many times before it sinks in. Blushing he asks “what other jobs will there be for us. And do we get paid?” he sinks into himself I think over his question and I answer him “I have changed my mind” I start watching all these wolves hold their breath as to what I will say next “I don’t want you to volunteer to run the kitchen or your helpers be volunteers. So you will be head of the kitchen and be paid for it. So you will need to hire who you need in the kitchen with you and they will be paid as well.” gasps and shock run through the room.
“and to answer your question. I’m sorry I haven't learned all your names yet what is yours?” I ask him. His eyes go wide “my name is Brice alpha” he tells me. “okay thanks Brice and to answer you. Yes, you will get paid for the work you do you are not slaves or servants. Here at the shadow pack, we don’t have many pack jobs yet but when we get back to the green lake lands we will have many more jobs that will need to be filled. Pretty much if you can think it we probably need it” I laugh out. They all nod and I can see them all relax more and start talking to each other. I see them laughing and smiling and it warms my heart. A young pup comes up to me and tugs my arm I turn to look at her as a loud gasp comes out and “Lynn no don’t bug the alpha to come here” but I just wave my hand to say its no biggy. “hello Lynn what can I do for you?” I ask this adorable pup she can't be more than two. Putting her hands up that toddler sign for wanting up. Picking her up and placing her on my lap I look to the she-wolf who looks like she's going to have a heart attack. “aren't you a cutie pie.” I say to her and she just hugs me and lays against me. “I wov you alpa” she yawns out. My heart melts for this little pup. “looks like you have some competition there Noah” Bridget laughs out so loud making me chuckle. Her mother starts to walk up to me telling me how sorry she is and she will take her. I let her know it's okay and Lynn is fine but ill have to give her back after dinner due to having patrol tonight. I know this is shocking all of the wolves so I let them all know I love pups and pups are always welcome to come to me. I feel pride coming from Noah and I see the whole of my pack look to me with awe.
Once dinner is done Noah and bridge help clean up while I head to the border. Once I get there I smell a familiar scent so I follow it to the east. I get there and am shocked at what I see and am confessed “Isaac what are you doing here? How did you get here so fast? Wait did you change your clothes?”
