Chapter 33
Sitting there with Rhett all I could think about is how different Kalaban was things were not adding up for me. After a few minutes, Rhett said we needed to get going. Standing I follow him. Just as we step into s huge grove a sense of home washed over me. A scent tickled my nose tugs deep in me were pulling me to the center. A deep need to get there fast washed over me. Pushing past Rhett I hurry to the center of the grove. Looking around I can't see anything that would be pulling me here just an empty field. A large pop sounds as I hit a solid wall. A wall I cant see. Stumbling back I lose my balance and fall on my ass. Rubbing my already healing nose I look around confused. The pull to go back is just as strong but there is a wall.
“careful little wolf the door is closed still.” snapping my eyes at him I give him my best death look. With a chuckle, he walks up holding his hand out for me. Slapping his hand away I get up still glaring at him. He gets a smirk and this weird look in his eye as he looks me over “get it out now little wolf I won't be so patient after I’ve marked you” his tone sends shivers down my back. Clamping my legs together when he starts sniffing the air. Pushing past him I start forward only to be pulled back against his chest. “I mean it little wolf.” the husky rasp of his whisper has my core flooding and throbbing. Moving away from me leaving me in a state of shock he steps around me to the center of the grove. Holding his hand up to what I assume is the wall a shimmer dance around his hand. Stepping closer I can see the shimmer grown and split away from each other. A large castle is just on the other side of the shimmer. Holding his hand out to me as he pulls his hand back. Confused I looked at him “the ward needs to register you or you cant pass through.” slowly I raise my hand to him. Taking it he pulls me forward and places my hand on a hard surface I cant see. A tingle and burn shoot through my hand alarms start going off a pair of vines wrap around my arm yanking me out of Rhett's grip and pulling me through the tear. The vines wrap around me encasing me tight. Finally stopped when it was wrapped tight around my neck.
“release her now!” Rhett roars so loud my knees try and buckle under his tone. “young lord Rhett we can not it was the land that took her not us.” a very scared-looking boy said. A set of wings drops and shakes light blue dust as they shake in fear. The other small being I can't see really is also bowing down to Rhett. “what do you mean?” he demands both still shaking and glancing at each other looking for an answer when a loud pop sounds to my left “what is going on here?” a deep voice that calls to my soul answers. “your guard imprisoned my mate in vines and I demand she be released.” Rhett growls. Soon a tall pale man with white hair down to his waist is standing in front of me. His gold eyes stared deep into my swirling gold silver and blue eyes. With a wave of his hand, the vines drop me to the ground. “I do apologize young lord the land was confused is all. This young hybrid seems to be the daughter of my daughter but my Maebug as you know has just reached her 18th summer and has not bared an offspring. I suspect there is a reason for this turn of events and your visit?” he asks while he helps me stand back up. His words left me shocked to the core.
Daughter of his daughter means what think stupid what is this stupid man's riddle means there is no way I am his granddaughter I knew my grandfather. He was a mean bastard who liked long hugs with me. The day he was killed for touching the alpha's new toy was a blessing. And he just said I am the same age as his daughter so this old man has lost his marbles. Rhett looks at me then the odd man and back again then starts barking out laughter so loud the ground seemed to join in with it.
“oh, this is great. Maebug is going to be so mad that she was right and wrong.” he laughs out. The old man chuckles and looks at me “come dear you must have a mountain of questions.” nodding I follow behind him to the very white shiny castle. As I get closer the walls are an iridescent material almost like the walls are made of light. The sight is breathtaking. “you're not from here are you?” “well I was born at the green lake pack just a few hours drive from here so not here but yes I am from around here,” I answer why can't I stop from answering a question. He nods looking at me “have you been feeling out of place and a sense of something in you is changing?” “yes so much is changing like all of a sudden I have new powers just when I thought I had them under control. Then some crazy witch tries to kill me and now I am stuck in this…this….this” stopping as I don’t know how to finish that sentence. I kept trying to stop myself from talking so when that didn’t work I tried to say anything but the truth but I could only speak the truth. “my dear you can't lie you of my blood and your mothers. One daughter my only fairy offspring. All my sons take after their mother's pixie, nymph or siren. My daughter only daughter took after me as a fairy. And we, my dear, can not lie. And we will always answer a question. It's a curse and a blessing all in one. It's a trait cast upon my blood to keep us a true and fair ruler.”
