“what?” I growl out looking at Rhett like he's lost his mind. I never agreed to take his name as mine. That is something we should have talked about. Glaring at him I link “we will talk about this later” “little wolf I did some searching and sparks is the name of an alpha far to the east. No way anyone here will believe you I barely believed you about who you are and where you come from.” huffing out I cut the link annoyed at his logic. “so what are we looking for?” the alpha asks glaring at me. Oh, I hate this time so much already. I just got used to no longer being property or second class because I am a she-wolf. Growling I glare at the alpha “she's shorter than I. she has dark brown hair and eyes. But she's taken a lot of fae blood so she could have changed what she looked like. I don’t know how much y'all know about blood magic witches but they are very dangerous. We need to call in any pack witches you have to see about creating something to help to bleed stopped almost immediately. I have recently found out she blood to a horrible witch that lives around here now. Edith, I have no clue her last name as she used so many in my research.”
“well, I have no idea what a pack witch is. I can guess what it is, but we do not have that here we are a pack of wolves.” snapping my eyes at him confused “what?” I know the history of the shadow pack and they have always had an oracle and a witch. Alarms began going off all around us. Spinning around looking for a source when I cant. I watch the men spill out of the house well at least the house is the same. Pulling me back to him Rhett whispers in my ear “why do you not look surprised by the number of men coming from a small house little wolf?” watching them gather for instructions I whisper back “because I spent a year in this house its build down like my own pack house a design we copied from the shadow pack. Why are you not surprised?” “well simple it's my design. Looks like they are ready to let's join them.” with a nod we head to the group “a witch has started attacking at the border just one so no to-” “do not underestimate her she is powerful trust me. Where is she I need her alive?” shocking the alpha he just points to the south.
Taking off at a dead run before I shift. Feeling the wind through my fur sends spikes of excitement. The closer I get the more I start smelling decay and something rotting two different sour smells. The combination threatens to toss the contents of my stomach all over the ground reaching out to the air around me I push the smells away. Not the smartest plan when tracking someone but I needed to breathe. Stopping as I shift through the scents still in the air finding Janet's scent. Got ya bitch. Shooting off to the left I follow the tracks she left on the ground. I should have been paying better attention. I should have been looking where I was going. I got so caught up in finding Janet I didn’t see the trap. Falling into a deep hole in the ground landing hard on my side feeling my leg and hip shatter as I hit the ground. The impact was so hard and fast taking my breath away my vision going in and out causing me to shift back. Laying on my side in too much pain to move. Groaning I hear noises behind me. Gritting my teeth as I turn over on my back so I can look around. Looking down my whole left side is black and looks like the back of spaghetti. All I can do is lay here until I heal. Turning my head I see several smaller wolves telling me they are young wolves. “I won't hurt you. Can one of you shift?” a little red wolf comes forward sniffing the air. Then nods her head. Shifting I see a small red-haired girl. Her fiery red hair reminds me of Jemma from the kitchen. “what's your name? Mines Ashley and I know it doesn’t look it but I am here to help?” something I said must have been too much because he began laughing.
“I am sorry but you’re a girl and you just broke yourself so bad it causes a shift. How can you help us?” she asks as she sinks to her knees next to me looking over my galaxy-looking side. If it didn’t hurt so bad it might be pretty. “I will be all healed in oh maybe an hour-ish so no need to let this” waving my good arm over my left side. “fool you I am stronger than I look. And I am not just a girl I am an alpha heir.” the look of shock is easy to read as she looks at me then at the other six she-wolves in this hole. “how did y'all get in here?” I mean one or two wolves I can see but seven now eight. I know how I got here I was careless. How did they get here. “we were out picking wild berries for a cobbler tonight when the ground opened up and we all fell in this hole.” yep that sounds like something Janet would do.
Trying to link Rhett finding the bond blocked. “can any of you link family friends pack anyone?” the wolves shake their heads the girl replies with a sad no. The chill is strong down here. “if you wanna shift back to keep warm I have a while before I can move.” I won't get cold my inner flame wouldn't allow it. Before she could say anything a small dragon dropped down on my chest. “master I mean Al I felt you get hurt what happened?” he asks to jump around on my stomach looking at me not seeing that he is jumping all over my hurt side. Swallowing my screams at seeing him look so much better “hey look at you did you get bigger?” changing the subject. His big sharp toothy grin tells me everything I need to know.
