Chapter 32
Daniel pov
Brendon heads back to the medical center with the twins and the girl. I gather the wolves close and head to do a deep patrol run around the border. While the warriors are running the border I follow her trail. She came from the south. I have been running for a good few hours and still, her trail goes father but her scent is getting weaker. Stopping for water at a stream I notice I am too far to link anyone from the packs but I still can feel Noah through the bond. Noah is starting to feel worried so I head back.
Getting back I find one of the warriors for a report and they tell me that they found nothing. So from what I can tell she was alone. Heading to the packhouse and meet up with Brendon to talk things over. I know that he would have talked to the girl if she had woken and he needs to know what I found on my run.
“so what did you find?” “well I ran for hours and was too far to link but her trail still went farther but the more I followed the weaker it got. I did find a campsite that was maybe two days old that had her scent but no other scents were around. She came from the south and that's about all I could find. She only has what we saw her with. The border found no other signs of her or anyone else as well.” I tell him thinking this is odd. “has she woken? How is Isaac?” “Nah she's still uncontentious. Isaac is good all healed up and they will not leave her side. I can't blame them for what Dr. Sands said she has been mistreated and is underweight. She had a lot of old bruises, scars, and what look like burns. The boys are so mad right now and worried.” “I will go see them and bring them a change of clothes and food hopefully she wakes soon so you can ask her a few things.” “don’t you mean we,” Brendon says laughing as he walks away.
Heading to the twin's shared suite I grab a set of clothes from both rooms. Stopping at my suite to change I find Noah with the kids. “alpha we missed you lots.” Jordan screams and runs to me. Scooping him up “missed you too little man. What have you all been up to?” “Lune Noah signed us up for school and said we would go shopping this weekend for school clothes and stuff,” Ashley said excitedly. Just the smile on their faces brings me joy. “you're coming too right alpha?” Jordan asks me looking up at me with those big puppy eyes. How can I say no to that. “okay but let's set some ground rules for us. First, it's Daniel and Noah not alpha and Lune for you two.” tell them as I tickle little Jordan's tummy. He's giggling so much his little face is turning red. Ashley looks supervised, before she can say anything Noah cuts her off. “we are family and family does not use titles right?” she just nods and looks at us with tears in her eyes. “do I have to call you Daniel and Noah?” Jordan asks. Looked at him confused but asked him what he wanted to call us. “Ummm can I call you dad and daddy?” he asks shyly bringing tears to both our eyes. Looking to Ashley to see she seems to be holding her breath weighing for my answer. “you know what you two can call us whatever you wish.” Jordan wraps his arms around my neck as Ashley throws herself at me clinging tight. I look to Noah giving him a look of, get over here now. Having our first family hug has me feeling whole and so full of joy. Kissing Noah before he pulls away.
“I heard there was some excitement at the border.” so I link him the whole story and watch as his eyes get big. “okay guys I have some work still to do but when I get back how does ice cream sound.” Ashley gives me a sweet yes please but Jordan is screaming “yes yes yes please can I have chocolate with sprinkles?” I can't help but laugh at him he is too cute. Setting him down I go to the closet and change into a pair of jeans and a t-shirt. “hey while you're with the kings think you could see about a bigger suite while we are here?” Noah links and I let him know I will. I let him know I plan on asking them to do the paperwork for the adoption of the kids. Will you ask them if they want to keep their last name or one of ours?” “of course and ill let you know” with that I kiss the kids on the head and Noah's soft lips and head to the medical center.
Walking in I see Dr. Sands and ask him how the girl is and if she has woken up. Letting me know what he can but she still has yet to wake. Thanking him I head to the room. I find Isaac and Anthony on each side of the bed holding her hand. They look up when I enter “how is she? Here I brought you clothes to change into. I'm sure you would rather her meet you clean and not covered in blood.” setting the clothes on the table that all hospital rooms have. “I also have food being made and brought here for you. Go change ill watch her.” they both look reluctant to do as I say but then they both get up and head to the bathroom.
Standing at the window looking out sending a prayer up to the goddess when a loud blood-curdling scream comes from behind me. Spinning fast I see the small girl jump off the bed heading for the door. I am faster so I beat her. Both boys barrel from the bathroom in only their boxer briefs. Holding my hands up to show I don’t plan to hurt her. She just stares at me. “calm down no one will hurt you here” I say reaching out to her both boys growl at me causing her to jump and spin looking at them. Her eyes are wide at their size. “Mate it's okay you are safe here with us,” Isaac says “what is your name, little mate?” Anthony asks. Both her eyebrows shoot up in shock. “M…MMMM…Mmmaate?” she stumbles over the word. They start shaking her head in fear. “no no no I don’t have a mate. I can't have a mate. Oh, my goddess your wolves” she cries out sinking to the floor. The boys follow her reaching for her but she backs away. “boys go finish changing let her settle a min okay?” hanging their heads they get up and go to finish changing.
“Here let's get up off the floor” holding my hand out to her she slowly takes it. “yes we are wolves. Yes, you have a mate well two actually. Good guys. They have been watching over you since you stumble to the border.” watching her as I talk looking for any sign she's here for ill will. “where am I?” she asks “you're at the shadow pack medical center. Can you tell me your name?” I ask but she just shakes her head. Okay, ill try something else “where are you from” she just shrugs. “okay well it looks you were running from somewhere can I ask why?” she hangs her head but this one she answers “I'm looking for someone.” is all she says. Once I had her back on the bed I linked for Damien, Brendon and aria that she is awake. They let me know they would be here soon to talk to her.
The boys come out of the bathroom both fully dressed this time. She is just staring at them. “is it normal to have two mates? She asks me smiling “some have two mates like the queen and kings but that's rare. But with incidentals, the chances of a shared mate are increased to 90%. so it's very normal for twins to share a mate. Or in my brother and sister's case, they were matched with another set of twins.” I tell her. There is a knock on the door and it opened to reveal Dr.sands “alpha you said she was awake?” her head snapping to me just as I turn to him and nod. “he's just here to check on you I promise we won't let anyone hurt you, little mate?” Isaac says staring at her. Her cheeks turn a bright pink color. I see the boys melting in front of me already wrapped around her little finger. Dr. Sands does his examination and other than what we can see she seems to be in okay shape. He orders her to eat more and drink lots of water. As he leaves aria, Damien and Brendon arrive. “my queen. My kings.” Dr. Sands says bowing and walking out. With that, a loud oh is heard.
