Chapter 37
“what do you mean both my mates. And two futures? Are you an oracle?” trying hard to process what she said? How could I be in my time with two mates if Rhett is from this time? I am so lost. Staring at this woman. I can feel a connection to her but it's very weak. It's an odd feeling really I know deep down we are family but there is no actual familiar bond. “oh no my girl I am no oracle. But I can read the waters. Waters like the land have memory but like time flows freely. Water has no past or future it's all one. My home water has been shifting and turning to cause a storm inside of myself and my sweet bug. I believe you my child are part of that storm. The witch you will have to hunt down and content is the other part of the storm. My jar shows half the water black as squid ink the other is the beautiful ice blue of the western waters. They are not equal. This is due to the witch having had many many years to practice her magic and you have just started to unlock your father's fire. Like Kalaban and Maebug have the fire of the flint clan.” she stops letting me take in what she said.
Hearing how Kalaban is the heir to the fairy throne and related to me would explain the bond that I have with both him and Sharon. The pain of missing them and at the words that Kalaban said to be the last time I saw him. Then something he said and what this woman and the king said had me confused. “wait if Kalaban is your and the king's pup then how did he not know there is a familiar bond like you and the king?” with a small giggle she shakes her head. “oh my dear Kalaban is from the first wife and the first born. Kabbalah has just hit his 90th summer and will soon be out looking for his fated like his father he will have three mates, unlike his father they will all be mated to each other three males and a female. Other than that I don’t know much about Kalaban's future. It's clouded and dark.” looking away from her as I know what fate holds for Kalaban. I know I can't stop what will happen to him if I do then Sharon won't be. Knowing now that she's family by blood I can't do anything to risk losing her.
“my dear what just happened your center is raging and pulling.” she stares at me oddly I just shake my head. I don’t know her and I can't trust her. I can't let them close to me they cant know what will happen I have to hide it all. I have to let things happen. How will I look at Sharon or Kalaban again? I can never tell them I let everything happen to them. Anger rushes hot over my skin burning so hot the stone walls start to steam from the heat coming off of me. The magic around me starts flooding me fueling the fire I feel in me. Screaming out as the heat feels so hot it starts to burn. the sound tearing through my throat vibrates the walls of the cave. I can feel a flood of worry spilling in from the bond I have with Rhett. Everything building inside of me grew and seeped out of every pore of me. The blue woman starts swaying as my vision flutters. The last thing I hear before I fall into a dark black hole is her screaming for the king.
Shooting up in shock at the freezing ice landing on me. Slowly opening my eyes I see steam all around me. Water covering most of me. Steam coming off of me in spots. Confused I look around to find a worried Rhett standing still with a bucket in his hands. Taking a few minutes to catch my breath and gather my thoughts. Rhett slowly puts the bucket down and holds his hands in front of him in surrender. Surrender from what I have no clue of. “oh good you're awake. I see the ice helped.” king Rowland's sing-song voice says from behind me.
Spinning on him the last of the water dries up at my feet. Looking at him with a raised brow. “come my child we have a lot to discuss. I should have seen it before I apologize.” he tells me waving a hand. Looking back at Rhett he nods though he has a worried look on his face. I can feel his hesitation to come near me and his worry I won't go with the king. Dropping my shoulders I nod and start towards the king. “dear I can't believe you are planning to make her wear those water-logged clothes. Come child I will help you dress.” a small woman says fluttering into the room. Her hair is a rainbow of colors and I swear small rainbow dust dances in the air around her giving her a whimsy air about her. Her bright violet eyes are the eyes. My chest clenching as I look into their eyes of Sharon. This must be Kalaban's mother. The dust stops and I see for the first time wings that are not mine. Shifting to a blue color as I stare at them. Tilting her head a frown soon falls on her lips. Shaking my head I smile at her “I am sorry I’ve never seen such beautiful wings.” a bit of envy shoots through me. His wings turned a bright pink color. The loud barking laughter of the king fills the room. “are you trying to still my wife little one?” the small woman spins smacking him in the chest “oh stop that you. Go find your oldest he is due to help with the yearlings.” my ears perk at the phrase “you have cattle?”
The room fills with everyone laughing but me. “what?”
