Chapter 62
The shadow packs all laying on the ground howling in pain. The rogues soon are chasing and fighting each other. I see the alpha trying to make his way back to the pack house. “alpha Adam what's wrong?” I rush out as I get to his side. “night” screams “blossom” folded in on his self “day room” he starts clawing at his chest. There’s no day room in the pack house. But then this is not the pack house I spent three years in so I rush to the pack house shifting in mid-stride. Linking Rhett “get anything out of him that could be important.” pushing myself faster. The closer I got to the pack house the louder and more painful the cries are.
Shifting as I hit the steps stumbling as my foot catches on the top step. “sun room where?” I grabbed a young pup sitting on the floor crying. He points “okay good do you know where all the other kids are right now. He nods “good go to them all of you get in a room shut and lock the door got it?” he nod and he gets up rushing to the back of the house. Following were he had pointed I see the most horrible scene. Wolves laying in a heap on the ground in pieces. “you bring me another one I know one of these mutts will do as I say.” who is that? Watched for a few more minutes while she paces in front of a black bud on dark green steam. What is that and why does she want it.
Soon a rogue is yanking a small she-wolf to the pacing woman. “retrieve the bloom for me now!” she demands. The small wolf shakes her head. With a frustrated cry, she grabs the girl and throws her to the bloom but the girl bounced off. Grabbing her again she pushes the girl's arm towards the plant. When the wolf's arm wouldn't get close enough a thick black slimy smoke wrap's around the girl. Her limbs started to be pulled by the smoke away from her body her cries set something off in me and I rush out of my spot. “oh good a strong mutt maybe you will get me what I want.” a wave of something hit me smacking me into a hard wall. Taking my breath away. I hear a wet ripping sound as I blink back the black covering my vision. Just to see the witch rip the skin off the poor girl's arm leaving her holding a bloody mess. Thank goodness for wolf healing or that would take a lot longer to heal. What I had not expected was for the witch to shove her arm in the skin she just removed from the wolf.
Thrusting her arm toward the plant I see her arm getting closer. Just as she starts to wrap her hand around the plant the field around the plant kicked back in throwing her back. Jumping up I rush her just to be blasted by an invisible force thrown back. Only this time I hit the plant. Sending pain and suffering through my whole body. The madness that seep in was almost too much to bare. The world stopped as my breath left me. It was like all the suffering in the world was now covering me like a thick blanket. The witch's cries of frustration fill the air as Rhett and the other wolves rush in. I was able to stay awake long enough to see the worried looks from the alpha and Rhett.
Rhett pov
The alpha is crumpled in a ball on the ground in so much pain that I couldn’t find the source. After getting the information from him that something is threatening the moon goddess night bloom. To be honest, as I am not a wolf I have no clue about this night blossom thing. But it seems to affect the wolves here. Letting the alpha know I will be back I start to head to the pack house when the wolves start to roll in pain and then the alpha jumped up as if nothing happened. A shock of pain washed over me at the same time. The shock was enough to break whatever was over the alpha. We both rush back to the pack house where my mate when. I can feel her anger and something else a creeping madness. Fighting to stop the madness from crossing the bond I break through the door. Following the alpha to the back of the house to a room, I had never seen before. Just in time to see Ashley fly across the room and slam into a huge black plant. A puff of black ash covered her. Dizziness is all I feel as madness settles over ash not thinking about what I was doing I scream out my icy fire coming deep from me shooting from my throat and lungs and spreading over Ashley. Her eyes grow huge before she closes them as a blue flame surrounds her. Soon orange and red start to streak through my fire.
A loud cry of frustration draws my attention back to the witch as she flees. The alpha yells to his men to follow her as she takes off.
Rushing to Ashley as the fire burns out. Her moans of pain pulled at me wishing I could take the pain I can feel through the bond. But there's a block like something is making her take all the pain. All of a sudden a purple flame burst through her chest a dark smoke coming from it as it leaves her spreading out into the air. The madness I felt in her was now gone. Taking this moment to rush to Ashley scooping her up in my arms her body limp in my arms. If it was not for the bond and her breathing I would be panicking at how limp she is right now.
A loud blood-curdling scream fills the air.
