Chapter 19

Over the last few years, we have grown as a pack. We built a new packhouse doing as Ben had suggested and built it down to keep us hidden from humans. If a human finds themself on the farm they would see a two-story simple farmhouse not a den of wolves. Bu doing this we can expand the packhouse if needed. And still, have the land for the farm to run on top of the house. As a pack, we created a stronger bond living all together like this. We also felt safer having one location to protect in a rogue attack. The farm grew as well as our wolves who left to learn a trade we didn’t have yet. The school was thriving a few of the older pups went to become teachers for the pack. The whole pack just got bigger and stronger. But I am starting to see looks of concern coming from beta Michael. I know what he's thinking its been the same thing for the last year. “I worry for you, Jesse. Maybe it's time you take a mate your wolf is getting meaner your getting stricter. The only pup not terrified of you is Jonah and we all know why he's not afraid of you.” I know he's right but I refuse to make a choice I want what I see them all have. And I know ill never have it.

It's been six years since we buried my father. The day I found out that not only were all but one of the Frosts found dead except Edith. Found out that Edith was behind the attack on the pack. A distraction so she can get away. The only way to fix my nose is for her to reverse it or in her death. Using her blood to bind the curse also bound the curse to her magic. Once she dies the curse dies. We have not found her. So I still can't smell. The longer it takes the snapper I have gotten. I know they think that if I was to take a mate then it will help my wolf calm down. But I won't make a choice not that my wolf would let me but I refuse to have anything less than I deserve. The good thing is that once she dies my nose will be fixed. And at this point, I am sure my mate has smelled me and walked away. So I want answers before I betray the goddess.

I want what he and Betty have. Tom and Tim both find their mates when a group of wolves stumbles on the farm. Rose and Suzette are sisters who were traveling with their father mother and four younger brothers. They were on day five of no food or work when they stopped for the night near the border of the farm. Tom had been on patrol that night I couldn’t sleep so I was running it with him when he stumbled falling face first in the dirt. Sniffing the air looking for what caused tom to act in such a matter. Still to this day turning to sniff the air still is my first instinct. Glaring I try and see if I can see anything. Nothing. Tom jumps up just as fast-changing direction and runs. Following thinking, there is a threat. We come to a small cave he starts pacing back and forth. “tom what in the underworld is going on?” I link not finding the threat and not feeling a shift in the air either. he links back not what I thought I would “I smell my mate. But I also smell a lot of smells in there at least seven wolves.” now do we call for back up or do we chance to be stronger. “do they smell like a threat?” he shakes his big brown head. Cocking my head like well then what is it kind of way “I lost my pants back where I stumbled” as he looks at me waiting for me to get what he is saying. I start laughing through the link. “shut up and give me your pants and go away” I grab my pants pulling them loose off my ankle. Bringing them up I shake them when he reaches to grab them I hop backward. Shaking them again I turn and run. I know It's childish but I have not had a good laugh in a while. When I hear growling start. I look overseeing a small group of rogues heading toward me.

Stretching my claws out and digging into the ground I feel their steps I count. Three in front. Two to the left one to the right. None to the back. Not the best of tactics unless they are trying to herd me. But these are my woods my land there is nowhere they can push me I don’t know. What I had failed to notice was they were pushing me away from the farm and my pack. Thinking I was a warrior I’m sure. They were sent to distract the wolf here but when I felt the pounding of several sets of paws I linked the pack. Linking tom to stay and make sure his mate is not part of this attack. If they are taken into custody for questioning with Jonah and me. if not part of this protects them. Charging the wolves in front of me heading to meet the pack I could have taken on the six small wolves there alone but there are more coming.

The air is soon filled with the sounds of teeth snapping. The slosh of dry earth turns to mud from the blood being spilled. My feet slipped my nails shooting out digging into the ground anchoring me. Swinging my big head around to grab the ear of the wolf the bit down on my right hip. Snarling as I yank my head back. My sharp teeth cutting through his ear start to tear before he yelps out letting go of my hip. Causing his whole body to fly over from the momentum. Slamming so hard against a small tree his back folds the wrong way. The sound of snapping rings loud through the air as a half scream gasp leaves the wolf as he shifts into a human dropping to the ground lifeless. Then I feel the snap of a bond so strong I stumbled. And I hear the scream of a woman I considered my mother. Tearing through any wolf that came near me all too soon they retreat leaving no trace as to where they went.

Shifting back we collect and help the wounded back and help recover the lost. Linking Tim “I know you know how to get a hold of Mary and I have never once asked you to contact her and I would have never asked but that's her father please send word to her Betty needs her.” “Soon as we are back I will send word. What is that smell?” if he had been close to me I would have smacked him for asking me but I think he was just thinking it before cutting the link.
