Chapter 48
Daniel pov
My alarm goes off. Getting up shutting it off so I don’t wake Noah and Jordan. A few days ago Jordan had wandered into the game room for the teens and one of the older boys was watching a scary movie. Jordan has been having nightmares since. The young boy felt so bad but I assured him it was no one's fault. Being relieved I wasn’t upset with him he wanted to try and make it up to Jordan so on Saturday he wants to have a movie day with him.
After my shower, I got dressed in shorts and a tank. Walking to the bed I kiss both Jordan and Noah on the forehead before I check on ash. I know she wants to start paroling with me but I want her to wait till the summer break is here. She reluctantly agreed. Stepping out I see one of the young warriors heading my way. “what's up?” I ask once he makes it to me. “alpha I was wondering if I could run patrol with you tonight?” he is one of the promising warriors and even though I know he is not scheduled to work right now is here wanting to do extra. “I don’t see why not be nice to have company once in a while,” I tell him. I usually run patrol alone due to I tend to lose track of what I am doing and I end up our running the others. Forgetting to keep pace with them. Since becoming alpha my senses have heightened along with my speed strength and endurance. I am working on keeping pace with the others. No one finds offense to it as they get that if one day they became an alpha they would have a learning curve as well. I let Henry know that he may have to nip at my heels if I start going too fast as I lose track of myself getting lost in thought and watching the border.
Making it to my post we shift to do the first run of the border. Twenty minutes into the run I start smelling wolves. Not rogues but a handful of wolves that have a faint pack smell. Making me believe they are from a very small pack or just turned rogue. Telling Henry to stand guard in the shadows and watch my back as I creep towards the group. Reaching them I find a handful of she-wolves and one young pup. The she-wolves are laying in a circle around the pup that looks to be about seven or eight. She's asleep laying next to a black and white wolf. She opens her eyes and they remind me of the young alpha jay. They all look worn out and hungry. Shifting and slipping my shorts on I make my presence known. Linking Henry, to gather twelve shirts and a few other wolves and head back this way. The big black and white wolf stand over the pup baring her teeth. Raising my hands to show I mean no harm as I walk closer. “I have a shirt for you. Would make talking easier.” I say holding the shirt up she nods and I toss it to her and turn my back. This tells her two things first I respect her as a person and second I don’t fear her. I hear her shift and then she clears her throat. Turning back around I just stare at her for a second. If she is not related to alpha jay then strike me now. “what are you doing so close to the shadow pack border>” relief floods her face and the others sink to the ground. Confused at first then she begins. “our pack was destroyed and we were taken to prison. Before you ask getting free is a story I don’t wish to share with someone I don’t know. I knew the new queen is in the shadow pack so after a few directions from Addie we made our way here.” she says glancing at the pup who is now awake looking at me. I smile at her thinking about ash, this could have been ash and I want to tear the heads of whoever did this to them. “what pack were you from?”
“We still have a pack, our alpha is alive. We are from the hidden flower pack and our alpha is somewhere and we will find him,” she tells me standing up to her full height showing me that she may be beaten down but she is still a proud wolf. Once the words are out of her mouth I link Damien. “king Damien we have some she-wolves at the border saying they are from the hidden flower pack.” “since when are you so formal dude? How many of them are there? I'll be there soon on my way.” “There are twelve of them all looking pretty bad man maybe have the med team ready also there is a young pup here. She looks better than the others but still.” “fudging brownies how old is she and I will wake both sands and snow up. do they seem a threat?” “not at all tired hungry and a little beat down but threat nope.” “Why don’t you bring them to the health center and ill meet you there instead and I will grab alpha jay” “don’t tell him about the she-wolves and I won't tell them about him if they are who they say they are they will know each other and we can get an honest reaction.” “smart see I knew you had a brain.” “oh, your so funny food boy” we both laugh through the link before cutting it off.
“you all look like you need some food medical attention and rest so why don’t you follow me to the medical center and ill have someone bring you all some food?” I tell them they all look to the girl for direction. She nods and steps forward. “my man has some shirts for you all if you would please shift.” motioning to Henry who is standing just on the other side of the border holding a pile of shirts. Again they look to the girl and she nods. They all head over to him each taking a shirt. I start to hear bones snapping “Henry turn around to give them privacy please.” “yes alpha” and he turns the girl's eyes narrow and she stares at me “alpha?” I just nod but give her no more information.
After they have all shifted we start heading to the medical center. The little pup is tired so the girl is struggling to carry her. “here let me carry her I’m not as tired as you are.” I say to her I didn’t want her to think I thought she was weak as I can tell she's not just tired and I’m not. But I am also at least three times her size and alpha so I am physically stronger. She looks at me with suspension “I promise I won't hurt her. If it makes you feel better I have a daughter just a little older than her.” shock is written on her face at my words. I know she saw the truth in my words when she nodded and I scooped the little pup in my arms. She snuggled in and fell back to sleep.
Making It to the medical center I open the door. I see Damien and jay with their backs to me. Jay's back stiffens and he spins around so fast. “Leigha omg is that you?” jay whispers right before he runs to she-wolves hugging her and spinning her around. “I thought you were gone like all the rest. How did you get here? What happened? “ jay is firing questions off so fast I am having a hard time keeping up. “slow down kid let her breath I’m sure she can answer if you give her time.: I say to him. He looks over at me then his eyes go huge “Addie! What's wrong with her?” looking at him confused as to who he is talking about. When his eyes meet mine then go back to the pup in my arms. “nothing is wrong with the monkey she's just sleeping.” Leigha tells him and relief floods his face. He finally looks around seeing all the she-wolves. “I am so happy to see you all alive.” tears run down his cheeks as he speaks to his pack all the she-wolves have tears as well. Jay rushes to them hugging them all. You can tell that this pack had been closed before. Then a throat clears.
