Chapter 52
For the remainder of the day, I worked from the office here in the cabin. Keeping an eye on Addie while she bonds with ash. Noah left a while ago to run some of the training classes. I made a few calls to the wolves out at the green lake. After getting a report from them I called the mayor to see about having him hire people to work on building houses and cabins. Letting him know that I fully trust him and Jim to hire and oversee the build. I also made it clear we needed them as soon as possible. I also told him about possibly sending the pups and wolves that don’t fight there. He understood the gravity of things and assured me the town would be ready to help when needed. Some of the wolves I sent have taken jobs in town and seem to like what they are doing. This was something the mayor thought would be a good idea. It wouldn't look like they were guarding the town but living there. As of right now tom and Klara are the only mates found but that could change.
Jordan is sitting on my lap playing on his game system while I make my calls. Ashley and Addie made their way into the office. “daddy I was wondering if Addie could stay over tonight?” ash asks. Looking up I see them both looking at me with hope in their eyes. “let's see what her sister thinks okay?” they both nod. Linking Noah asking if he is close to Shelly. When he lets me know he is I relay the question from the girls to him and wait for him to answer. Though I’m sure Shelly would rather her be with her since she just got here. Her bonding with Ashley could be beneficial for both. Instead of talking through Noah Shelly called and we talked about it. And decided that she would come over for dinner and take it from there. So I let the girls know what Shelly said. Squealing as they start to leave when ash stops “your not cooking right?” I fake hurt looking at her as Addie gasps at what ash said to me. This brought Jordan to the conservation “no daddy?” “Okay, okay I get the hint my cooking is bad.” laughing “I want pizza” Jordan demands “don’t you think Addie should pick butt-head she is the guest right daddy?” “don’t call your brother names. And she's right, little man next time you get to pick.” Jordan thinks for a min then nods looks at Addie “pick something yummy okay?” and he's back to his game. Addie is just watching the encounter with tears in her eyes no dought thinking about her own family. “come on Addie we have menus in the kitchen you can pick and then we will bring it to daddy so he can order.”
“she's sad,” Jordan says still playing his game I nod and kiss the top of his head. “thatch why we need to help her to be happy again.” he nods and lays his head back on my shoulder. When the girls come back holding a menu for the Italian place I was happy they have some pizzas on the menu so the little man can have what he wanted. They both told me what they would like Addie in a questioning way. Once I got the list of what they wanted and what she thought Shelly would like I made the call.
When Noah got home I knew before the door opened as Jordan jumped from my lap yelling that dad was home. For a kid that can not tell time yet he knows when we are home or when we should be home. Ashley was setting the table as I was getting the food out of the containers. Addie wanted to help as well so she was in charge of drinks. When the door opened Shelly and Noah came in. Jordan launched himself at Noah who caught him mid-air. In just a short time these two pups have made such an impact on our lives. I can't imagine life without them. Just as we are about to set down to dinner there is a knock on the door and then Bridget walks in with Leigha. “two more for dinner.” she hollers and a wiggly Jordan no longer wants to be put in his chair at the table he wants his auntie bridge. They walk into the dining area and I go get a couple more plates. Coming back in I see Jordan glaring at Leigha who is looking at him with wide eyes. She starts inching behind Bridget. “little man?” he looks at me and points to Leigha “hey mega monster this is Leigha shes, my mate. So she will be your new auntie if you want but I’m still your number one auntie.” “is she nice?” he asks and Addie answers the question “she's the best Jordan she saved my life your lucky to have her be part of your family.” “you did?” he asks wide-eyed up at her. Smiling she says to him “that's a story for when you're older okay?” he thought about it looked at me “it's bad huh?” and I nod. He nods and sits down. As we enjoy our meal Bridget starts speaking “so I wanted to run something by you guys?” “what's that?” Noah asks she looks at Jordan “how would you feel If I named Jordan the beta heir.” this shocked me. “I just have a feeling he is meant for it you know.” she says then links me “ash and he doesn’t share a father. They don’t know it but the goddess told me that Ashley's father was a warrior of the pack who took advantage of her husband being sent on a mission away from the pack.” she goes into telling me that she had gone into heat and the warrior even though mated still used the heat to his advantage. And made sure if she told anyone that no one would believe her anyway. This was true then but not now. She never told anyone not even Jordan's father that she was not his. Looking at ash I ask her what she thinks about having Jordan as her beta. She thought for a few minutes then asks about when she can pick her gamma and delta. Telling her that when she is a junior in high school she can name them she looks to Addie and then me and everyone else at the table than her brother who has pizza sauce all over her face. “okay he will be a good one I accept.” and that was that the future of the green lake pack was in our hands.
