Chapter 107

“What is your name?” Deacon asked, facing Noah.

“Noah,” he answered.

“You might not be married, but he is officially the Were-Owl king and since men still outrank females in the supernatural world, you are no longer the head of the were-owls,” Deacon stated bluntly and made his way out of the throne room.

“Excuse me?” Queen Amirah exclaimed.

“You know the rules,” Deacon said. “So, if you want to keep your throne, I suggest you take Noah here down the aisle and marry him.”

After Deacon left, Noah walked over to Queen Amirah. “You will always be the head of the were-owls in my eyes, but it is up to you how soon you want to presume your position.”

“You have been a royal for a short second and already you are acting like a bloody king,” Queen Amirah spat and stomped off.

“Go after her. We will meet you in the chapel,” his mother said to him.

Noah walked after Queen Amirah and knew it was up to him to convince her to get married and claim each other that day before she chooses Wynn over him.

“Can’t believe it was that easy to fool them,” Noah’s mother said.

“Let us just hope that King Deacon will keep his end of the deal,” his father said.

The crying woman that pretended to be Noah’s long-term girlfriend wiped her face. “Geuss, I should head home. A real girlfriend won't stick around for the wedding.”

“I agree. See you back home, honey,” her mother said. Eager to get her daughter out of there in case something went wrong.

“Where are you going?” Noah called out after Queen Amirah.

“To find Wynn,” Queen Amirah spat. ‘I should stick with Wynn,’ she thought and turned to face Noah. “I Queen,”

She was about to reject him when he forced a kiss on her. Noah already knew that Queen Amirah liked a powerful man from all the info Shysie had been feeding him.

Swept away by his lips on hers, she realized continuing a pure bloodline of were-owl-royals rested on her shoulders. ‘I have been sleeping with Wynn for months and yet I have not fallen pregnant. Do I truly risk it?’

“Let’s get married,” Queen Amirah finally said, having decided.

Noah was quick to mind link his parents with the good news.

“I will wait for you in the chapel,” Noah said, and walked ahead.

Queen Amirah took a deep breath, followed by a slow walk to the chapel.

Inside the chapel, people whispered under their breath when Noah took his place.

“Another best man? I thought you are the best man,” Jessica questioned when Deacon sat down next to her again.

“The new groom,” Deacon chuckled, bringing Paris’s attention also to him.

“Where is Wynn?” Paris questioned.

“Not sure. When Noah and his parents arrived, he fated with the Queen,” Deacon chuckled.

“You seem happy about it,” Jessica thought.

The disgusted look on Paris’s face told Deacon that Paris felt the same as Wynn.

Paris left the chapel to go look for Wynn. Even though he did not like Queen Amirah since he did not trust her, knowing all about her occasional deals with Torvald, he loved Wynn and knew that Wynn, for some reason, fell hard and fast for Queen Amirah. While Paris was keeping watch over Ann every day, Wynn would occasionally pay him a visit and all he talked about was his Queen.

“I thought I would find you here,” Paris said when he found Wynn on the rooftop of the castle.

“I take it everyone knows by now?” Wynn questioned, feeling like a fool.

“He is standing in the chapel, waiting for Queen Amirah to walk down the aisle,” Paris informed Wynn of the developments.

“You outrank any were-royal specie so why not make her see that?” Paris questioned.

“The fact that she didn’t un-mate the moment it happened makes it clear to me that she does not truly love me. She is just interested in the power I can provide for her. All she ever wanted was to rule the supernatural world and I won’t be used like that. In the beginning, I had my guard up. Hell, I even had a vasectomy to insure not to have any children with her. Fuck, I even ate the heart of a bloody snow owl so that I could shift into were-owl form,” Wynn rambled on.

“You should count yourself lucky that you didn’t end up making her pregnant. Shifting repaired the damage of the Vasectomy,” Paris said, unable to hold back his laughter.

“I am pretty dumb for my age,” Wynn laughed with him. “I regret having it done. When I found myself in love with her, I was going to reverse it to have children with her.

“She was just using you,” Paris said, wanting to put his arm around Wynn, but knew his hunter's heart does not allow it. Paris has learned how to deal with it but it takes a lot of self-control not to react when touching a vampire.

“No kidding,” Wynn laughed, even though he felt like crying.

“Where is Ann?” Wynn questioned, changing the subject.

“If I tell you, I will have to kill you,” Paris chuckled. “How is Shysie’s behavior? Do you think she knows that I saved Ann?”

“She does not have a cue. Ann’s parents and Jessica are the only ones that know the truth,” Wynn assured him.

“And Deacon, I guess?” Paris wondered.

“Jessica said she did not tell him. You know he has bad acting skills,” Wynn laughed.

“What are you going to do now?” Paris wondered.

“I don’t know. I need a break from the supernatural world,” Wynn said, wanting to put distance between him and Queen Amirah, not sure he will be able to handle seeing her with another just yet. “I think we should disappear,” Wynn suggested.

“I am going to stick around. I want to be the first to know when someone has found out about Ann,” Paris declined the offer.

“I take my hat off to you. I will never be able to stay away from the woman I love for the rest of my life,” Wynn said and put his hand out to Paris. “Tell Deacon and Jessica I send my regards.”

Paris took a deep breath before shaking Wynn’s hand.

“You are getting good at controlling yourself,” Wynn chuckled before speeding off to mend his broken heart.

Paris fought the urge to speed after Wynn and stood in his place, waiting for the burst of energy to leave him.

Instead of going back to the chapel, Paris made his way over to the vampire wing, wanting to make sure that Shysie had no clue that Ann was alive and well and in a happy place.

“Good evening,” Paris said casually, walking into the vampire wing.

“You have a lot of guts showing your face at the higher council. Go find yourself a cell,” Michael compelled him.

“Now, why would I want to do that?” Paris asked with a smirk on his face, looking at Michael and then at Shysie, that was a bloody mess, tied to the queen’s throne.
