Chapter 157

Wynn wrote a note to Princess Freda and Prince Deacon to let them know where he left Emily and that he will try to find them by tracking their scent so that they will know in what direction he was going. When Wynn arrived in the third town from Princess Freda’s mansion he stopped at a lodging house that offered bed-and-breakfast and booked himself in just so that he can have some food, forgetting what food even tasted like after a whole month of feeding on only humans.

Wynn waited patiently for his breakfast to arrive in his room and when it did arrive, he was glad to find that he still prefer food over human blood. He was halfway through his breakfast when there was a knock on his room door again.

“Go away, I am not done yet,” Wynn said, with a mouth full of food.

“Father,” he recognized Princess Freda’s voice and immediately sped over to the door and opened it.

“Prince Ra?” were his first words.

“Hello papa,” Princess Freda said with a smile walking into the room.

“Hello Wynn, or should I say, father-in-law?” Prince Ra said, holding out his hand to shake Wynn’s.

“Father-in-law? When did this happen?” Wynn questioned, looking at Princess Freda after shaking Prince Ra’s hand.

“It did not happen yet, well we are each other's fated mates and claimed, but we are yet to get married,” Princess Freda said, showing Wynn the mark between her collarbone and neck.

“We found your note,” Prince Ra said.

“We must have just missed you,” Princess Freda said.

“Where is prince Deacon?” Wynn asked, looking over at his food, wanting to finish it.

“He is at the Higher Council; his father is using his Alpha abilities against him so he cannot leave. Did you know he has a wife there? She is about to give birth,” Princess Freda stated.

“I know, but it was not his choice,” Wynn said, worry on his face.

“He seemed perfectly fine when we left. Unhappy but fine,” Prince Ra said.

“So where is this house where you left Emily and is she ok to be left alone?” Princess Freda asked, sounding worried.

“I was going to sort her out and go right back to your mansion, but it took longer than expected,” Wynn said, wondering what Princess Freda thought of him for abandoning her.

“You wouldn’t have found me. This one had me abducted. A few days ago, I escaped and found Prince Deacon. Well, he found me in my house. Apparently, he was in Emily’s old house all this time,” Princess Freda said, not seeming too unhappy by the fact that she got abducted.

“I don’t even want to know what went down. I am just happy to see you are happy. Unless you are compelling her?” Wynn went from talking to Princess Freda to Prince Ra.

“Shall we go get her?” Princess Freda asked.

“And do what with her?” Wynn asked, sitting at the table in front of his breakfast, making his intentions clear that he would like to finish his breakfast.

“Take her to Prince Deacon, of course,” Princess Freda said in a high pitch.

“If we take her to the higher council, they will not only kill her but also me,” Wynn said.

“Why?” Princess Freda asked, not understanding what the problem was.

“Because that is the punishment for turning a human into a vampire without permission,” Prince Ra said.

“How do you know this? I thought you were not part of the council?” Princess Freda asked, confused.

“We are all part of it. Just because we don’t stay at the castle does not make us not part of their rules,” Prince Ra said.

“Why did you do it then?” Princess Freda asked accusingly.

“To set prince Deacon free. So that his parents will think Emily was dead and stop pursuing her,” Wynn said, standing up, having lost his appetite.

“I still want to go see her. She should not have to be alone. She can come to live with us in Egypt, right?” Princess Freda asked with pleading eyes.

“Anything you want,” Prince Ra said.

“Fantastic. Let’s go get her,” Princess Freda urged.

By the time they got back to the house where Wynn left Emily, she was not there. “Dammit, I should have ordered her to return here before sunrise,” he said out loud.

“Let us just try to pick up her scent,” Princess Freda suggested, sniffing the air.

“We won’t be able to track her down in our vampire form because of the battlegrounds that are filled with blood,” Prince Ra said, taking his clothes off and shifting into his wolf form.

“Wait before you shift. Find something to put our clothes in and tie it around me once shifted so that we have something to wear when we shift back; when we find her,” Princess Freda said before going into another room to shift in privacy.

All three of them shifted into their wolf forms and set out to find Emily. ‘This is going to take forever,’ Wynn thought since they don’t have vampire speed when in their wolf forms.

Emily set off, following Wynn's scent back to Princess Freda’s mansion, but instead of going to Princess Freda’s home she went to her own and caught Prince Deacon’s scent. “I hate him,” she thought out loud.

Emily spends the rest of the day in the rooms of her siblings, vowing to take revenge for their deaths and that of her fathers. From where she was in her former house, she could hear Princess Freda, a voice she was unfamiliar with. ‘I love the good hearing that comes with being a vampire, but I will give it all up to be human again with my family,’ she thought, tears forming in her eyes.

During the day, while waiting for the night to come, Emily took a bath and cleaned herself up. She put on the prettiest dress she could find. “I always did like red,” she said out loud before putting on a red dress that was too sexy for the time period.

‘If only I could change my appearance so that the higher council won’t recognize me,’ she thought before leaving the house as the sun went down, following Prince Deacon’s scent. She had little trouble crossing from England to Belgium, practicing her compelling and feeding, leaving confused soldiers as far as she went. Soon Emily found herself on a red cross ship better known as The Mercy Ships that carried 170 doctors and nurses. Forced out of her seductive red dress and into the red-lined navy-blue cape. She lost prince Deacon’s scent but knew that the higher council was in America. When she saw the American flag on the ship, she thought it will take her straight to America, but it didn’t. Emily worked only below the deck and will only go above the deck at night. By the time they arrived in America three weeks later they wanted to award her with a medal of honor for the number of lives she saved but she and her red dress was gone the moment the ship docked in New York Harbour in the middle of the night.

Even though Emily could not pick up Prince Deacon’s scent, she found the Higher Council easily since all she had to do was follow a vampire here and a shifter there, sniffing out the supernatural.

Emily was lurking near the castle, waiting for her opportunity to get inside when she heard the screams of a woman in pain.

‘They should all be killed for what they are doing,’ Emily thought, thinking it was just another innocent young woman with royal blood on her wedding night. ‘Wait, it is about to be morning,’ Emily realized. ‘Someone might be in trouble,’ Emily thought, speeding over to the castle to where she heard the screams and then realized it was coming from Prince Deacon’s room, remembering the window where he watched her when she was in the gardens below.

“I thought you were dead?” a voice came from behind, making Emily turn around.

“I kind of am dead,” Emily said sarcastically, looking at Prince Andre.

“I can smell that. Who turned you? Was it Prince Deacon? Does he know you are here?” Prince Andre asked.

“It might not have been him, but it is definitely his fault! I came to end him!” Emily hissed.

“Not if the council kills you first,” Prince Andre said, an evil grin forming on his face.

“You hate him, so why don’t you help me?” Emily tried a smile.

“Better I get you inside before the sunrise,” Prince Andre said, walking her to the sunroom entrance and sneaking her inside his room.

“For your own safety, you have to stay here,” Prince Andre said.

“When do I get to kill Prince Deacon and his parents?” Emily asked.

“When I tell you to,” Prince Andre said.

“Who was that woman that screamed like that?” Emily demanded to know.

“Prince Deacon’s wife, she is in labor and about to birth the first royal offspring in a hundred years,” Prince Andre said.

“His wife?” Emily asked, angrily.

“The night you were supposed to be killed, he got married and made her pregnant before he disappeared,” Prince Andre informed her.

“He had a wife and a child on the way, all this time?” Emily asked, furious.

“So, he was with you all this time? A vampire as a mate? So, he did help turn you?” Prince Andre asked, trying to find some sort of reason to have Prince Deacon executed, hoping that lord Dario was in on it.
