Chapter 42
*‘You sitting on the King’s throne is fitting,’ Queen Amirah mind linked him back. ‘Does he know that you can mind link with other species? Can you still mind link with him?’
‘He does not know, and I have not tried to mind link with him, but I doubt I will be able to as my wolf was burnt to death,’ Wynn mind linked back. ‘No one but Ami, Andre and you know,’ Wynn mind linked her leaving Torvald out as he clearly knows who and what he was, all this time, ‘but what about Shysie? What about my daughter?’ Wynn wondered, but kept it to himself.
“Why are the two of you staring at each other in this weird way?” Deacon asked, looking at them.
“I will check in with you if I hear anything about Jessica,” Wynn said, and stood up. “By the way, you are right, the King’s chair is on the harder side.”
“What about her?” Queen Amirah asked, pretending not to know anything.
‘Don’t play dumb, I already saw that you know about Jessica,’ Wynn mind linked her.
“She has been abducted,” Deacon said.
“I will send my flock to get an aerial view,” Queen Amirah said, putting up her walls to her mind, hoping that Wynn did not see that she had Jessica abducted and was plotting with Torvald.
“Thank you,” Deacon said, knowing just how much help the were-owls can be in these situations and will take any help he could get to find Jessica.
“I am going to have a word with Hanna and Andre,” Deacon said, standing up.
“Past the Dungeons, down the stairs, and up the stairs,” Wynn said, “Andre left though.”
“Why don’t you just let them be?” Queen Amirah asked.
“Because Andre stole her and killed Dario. Dario was like a father to me. In fact, he was the only father I ever knew,” Wynn said, furious.
“Why are you lashing out at me? I did not kill him,” Queen Amirah said in a calm tone.
“I am staying out of this one,” Deacon said, and took his leave.
Wynn sped over and grabbed Queen Amirah by her throat, “you helped Andre and King Torvald so Dario’s blood is on your hands.”
Wynn felt Queen Amirah’s hands slip around his body in an inappropriate manner.
“What the fck are you doing?” Wynn asked, confused when her hands wrapped around his rear end.
‘Feeling out your bud,’ she mind linked him.
Wynn let go of her and put distance between them, “what the hell is wrong with you?”
“I am a widow with needs and since you are the last multi shifter with Kingship in your blood and therefore also the last Were-owl with Kingship blood, you are my only option,” Queen Amirah said, composing herself, rubbing her hand on her neck, soothing the pain from Wynn’s grip. ‘He might be too much man for Ami to handle.’
Wynn looked at her in shock, “so you think I am a multi shifter; what about Shysie?”
“How should I know? Maybe she was born without the gift,” Queen Amirah suggested.
“Keep it to yourself for now,” Wynn said, about to leave.
“You are most likely the true supernatural king, and you are not going to claim the throne?” Queen Amirah asked, stopping him in his tracts with her words.
“What? and be your husband so that you can be the Queen of the supernatural world? Don’t you think everyone knows your ambitions?” Wynn spat.
“I would suggest Ami for you, but we all know you prefer the matured ladies,” Queen Amirah said, seductively.
“I prefer all ages for your information,” Wynn said, laughing.
“I can handle rough,” Queen Amirah said, referring to him who just choked her.
“I don’t,” Wynn said, walking away.
“One night,” Queen Amirah called after him.
Wynn stopped, but doesn’t turn around, thinking, ‘I wonder how she will be in bed?’
Wynn shook his head at himself and then continued to walk out of the Werewolf throne room, thinking, ‘I better go check on Deacon and make sure Torvald didn’t get his way with him.
Deacon reached the dungeons and like everyone else, Torvald asked for a drink in exchange for a secret, “please, you will not regret it.”
“You can rot in hell for all I care,” Deacon laughed.
“Tell my brother to pay me a visit. Can you at least do that?” Torvald asked.
“Sending a mind link to one of our hybrids that is with him,” Deacon said, walking away.
Deacon reached the top of the stairs and found all the doors open but one. Deacon knocked on the door. “Hanna?”
“Prince Deacon?” Hanna asked, excited to hear another voice.
“King Deacon now,” he said.
“Oh, yes, I heard what happened,” Hanna said.
“Are you ok?” Deacon asked.
“Yes. I am not ready to be out in the world yet,” Hanna informed him.
“Are you being taken care of?” Deacon asked.
“Andre has been spending all his time with me and bringing me humans to drink from. We will get married once I am ready,” Hanna said happily.
“As long as you are happy,” Deacon said.
“Will you be at my wedding?” Hanna asked.
“Won’t miss it for the world,” Deacon said. Even though he knew Andre was wrong in what he did, Deacon was always silently rooting for him, since he was with Hanna first, and Dario met Hanna only because of Andre. ‘I just hope Wynn won’t find a way to restore her memories of Dario as it will only leave her devastated,’ Deacon thought at his own loss, his own pain he has been living with for almost two decades; killing the love of his life because his own mother had a shaman put an obedient spell on him and then forced him to burn his house down with her inside of it. It was what made Deacon return to his old ruthless ways, not letting any woman into his heart. After he lost the love of his life the first time, he had an enchantress put a spell over him that prevented him from ever being fated to anyone again unless he chose it. To break the spell, he had to claim someone by making her his forever mate. Not only will it bring all the pain back from the lost love of his life, but the pain will remain until the person he claimed, claimed him back.
No one really knew why he went ahead and claimed Jessica, especially since she was fated with his best friend.
The truth was that Deacon was tired of how the higher council was being ruled and when Jessica’s parents fled; he knew if he does not step in, Lycan Werewolves will lose their power over the Supernatural world. When he learned that Jovita and Juno did have a daughter, he realized it was time for him to take his rightful place as King, but he could only do that if he had a Queen of pure blood. To make sure the Supernatural world will always be ruled by Lycan Werewolves, he decided that once they are married, he will have sx with her in their wolf forms so that she can have a set of whelplings that can be married to his brothers. ‘Maybe I shouldn’t have shared that idea so rudely,’ Deacon thought, at all the poor decisions he had made recently. What Deacon forgot was that as soon as he claimed her, he will do nothing but worship the ground she walked on and definitely won't force her to have sx and re-produce in wolf form.
“I heard you found a royal Lycan Werewolf princess,” Hanna said, bringing him back to reality.
“I did, King Juno, I mean Prince Juno, and Princess Jovita has been hiding her,” Deacon said.
“Is it true that you stole her from Wynn?” Hanna asked.
“Yes,” Deacon admitted.
“Wynn seems pretty upset about the fact that I am with Prince Andre,” Hanna said.
“Don’t you worry about him. I will talk to him,” Deacon assured her.
“Thank you,” Hanna said.
“I kind of lost the princess so I have to continue my search for her, but I believe you are in good hands. Hope for you to join us soon,” Deacon said.
“Good luck in finding your princess,” Hanna said.
“Till we meet again, take care,” Deacon said before leaving.
Halfway down the spiral staircase, Wynn caught up with Deacon, “so how do we restore her memory?”
“How about we don’t do that? Do you know what that will do to her?” Deacon asked, continuing to walk down the stairs.
“Andre does not deserve her. I am going to kill him,” Wynn said.
“If you do that, you will kill the man that Hanna loves,” Deacon warned him.
“She does not love him. He compelled her,” Wynn protested.
“He compelled her to forget her love for Dario. There is a difference. With Dario out of the way, she is free to recognize her love for Andre,” Deacon said.
“Why are you taking his side?” Wynn asked angrily.
“The damage is done. To punish him will only punish Hanna. All he ever wanted was her and now that he has her, we don’t have to worry about him causing trouble,” Deacon said.
“Ha, you think his mother is not going to use him as a tool in her own evil plans to rule the Supernatural world since she helped him accomplish his goal of killing Dario?” Wynn asked as they reach the Dungeons.
“Any word from my brother?” Torvald asked as they walk past.
“Yes, he will see you in a few days,” Deacon said.
“Wynn, just a small drink, and I will show you everything,” Torvald tried his luck again.
“Fck-off,” Wyn said, frustrated.
Walking through the castle, on their way-out Deacon ordered a random person to take Torvald some food, “take some food to the prisoner in the dungeons; meats, raw.”
“No, you can cook it with rice and veggies. I think something sweet as well,” Wynn corrected.
“Really?” Deacon asked.
“Yes, really,” Wynn said, laughing.
“So, what do you think he wants to show you?” Deacon asked, interested.
“Probably something that I am better off not knowing,” Wynn chuckled.
“I don’t think Jessica is here, so I am going to return to Barrow. Are you coming with me?” Wynn asked, checking if he should pick Deacon up before speeding off.
“Can we leave tomorrow? I just want to talk to a few of my eyes and ears to be sure,” Deacon said, lying as what he really wanted to do was go to Torvald and find out what secret he had of Wynn.
“Sure, it is your mate that has been abducted,” Wynn reminded him.
After they went their separate ways; Deacon sneaked off back to the dungeons and Wynn found himself in front of Queen Amirah’s bedroom.
“I want to know about Wynn. What secrets do you have for me?” Deacon asked, putting his hand through the bars of the cell for Torvald to drink.
Torvald sped over but Deacon retracted, “promise you will tell me what you know about Wynn.”
“The food that was requested,” a young human man said, walking into the dungeons and passing the food through the bars.
Torvald grabbed the human’s arm and sunk his teeth in, the human screaming.
The human felt himself slipping away.
“That is enough,” Deacon said, but Torvald ignored him.
Deacon pushes his hand through the bar and shifted only his hand into his wolf part, claws grabbing Torvalds neck, piercing his skin, “I. Said. That. Is. Enough.”
Torvald let go, hissing at Deacon. The human ran and Deacon called after him, “get yourself a vampire to seal your wounds up.”
Torvald grabbed the meat that fell on the floor and started eating, laughing at Deacon.
Deacon took a deep breath, realizing he was wasting his time, so he started to walk away.
“I promise to tell you what I know about Wynn if you let me out of here,” Torvald said, making Deacon come to a halt and think.
Deacon looked at Torvald and then left.
The human got such a fright that he just kept on running, making his way out of the castle, but as he was going, he ran past Wynn that was still standing outside Queen Amirah’s door, contemplating if he should go in or not.
“Hey, wait up,” Wynn goes after the human and stopped him, grabbing his bleeding arm and giving it a lick to seal his wounds.
“New here?” Wynn asked the scared-looking human.
The human nodded his head, ‘yes.’
Because many people died the night Michael attacked the Higher Council, they had to get new humans and most of them are still getting used to the ways of the Supernatural.
“Guess they have not compelled you yet?” Wynn asked the human that was trying to get loose from him.
“Stop being afraid, there is nothing to be afraid of,” Wynn compelled him and that made the human relax.
“There. Now go and sleep this off,” Wynn said, before leaving the castle, thinking Deacon can find his own way back to Alaska.
“Hey Vasili, let Deacon know I am leaving now.” Wynn stopped outside the castle when he saw one of Deacon’s brothers.
“Sure," Vasili said, mind linking Deacon right away. ‘Wynn says he is leaving now.’
‘Tell him to wait, I am leaving with him,’ Deacon's mind linked him back.
“Deacon asked for you to wait. He is leaving with you,” Vasili said.
Wynn stood around, noticing Vasili looking at him. “What?”
“Aren’t you angry about what we did to you?” Vasili asked.
“Sure, you and your brothers betrayed me for one of your own,” Wynn answered bluntly.
“But then, why are you still friends with Deacon? He ordered us,” Vasili tried to defend their actions.
“Deacon and I have been trying for years to get rid of my wolf's side, but the rest of you? I can never trust any of you again,” Wynn said, with a serious look on his face.
“So, you expected us to turn against our own brother?” Vasili protested.
“I think I have been more of a brother to you than he ever was,” Wynn reminded Vasili of Deacon, the rebellious eldest brother he always was.
Vasili looked at the ground, not sure how to respond, knowing Wynn was speaking the truth. Wynn was always there; they all grew up with Wynn around. Wynn went from an uncle figure to a brother figure.
“Don’t be so hard on him. My Kingship forced them to obey me,” Deacon said, walking up, overhearing the conversation.
“I am just pulling his leg,” Wynn said, picking Deacon up and speeding off.*
