Chapter 86

Lestat left Jessica outside his house and drove off.
“Call mother,” Lestat said. Lestat got a dead tone.
‘Where are you, mother,’ he wondered since he has not heard from his mother for a few weeks. The last time he heard of her was when he visited her after she insisted, he comes around on a Sunday evening for dinner. She made him so drunk that he had to sleep over, using the excuse of missing her only child and ever since he started to date Jessica who he never stopped talking about, he was neglecting her.
Lestat knew all about the supernatural world and that lycans resented enchanters. What he didn’t know when he fell for Jessica whom he thought would be nothing more than an easy few fucks but out of the blue he found himself in love with her. He knows his mother was an enchanter but him, himself did not get her gene. His mother once told him that his father was a lycan but he didn’t get the lycan gene either.
Lestat drove over to his mother’s apartment and used his key to see himself in. The smell of death alerted him that something was wrong.
“Mom?” Lestat proceeded with caution. He was relieved to find that the smell of death was his mother’s dead cat. After inspecting the whole house and not finding his mother he grabbed a black bag and another bag that he wrapped around his hand first to pick up the dead cat and bag it. He dropped the dead cat in the garbage outside and returned to the apartment to spray some cleaning chemicals on the spot where the cat met its maker.
Lestat proceeded to look for any clues that will give him his mother’s whereabouts. He scanned her magic books, moved aside some potions and pulled out some drawers.
‘I can track her car,’ it occurred to him. Lestat took out his phone and opened the app to look up his mother’s car. “What is she doing in the middle of nowhere?” he asked out loud.
Lestat rejected the call that was coming from Jessica and locked up his mother’s apartment before jumping into his car and driving to the location of her car that was miles away.
Hours later Lestat arrived at what looked like a compound.
“What the hell is going on here?” he asked, looking at the dozen or so people, standing around, amongst them, his mother.
“Mother?!” Lestat exclaimed and rushed over to her walking into the spell wall.
Before he could reach his mother, the vampires charged for him, sinking their teeth into him.
“Get off him,” Torvald compelled them all.
Lestat’s mother, Lautari rushed over to him but before she could reach him Torvald grabbed her and flung her aside. Torvald hungrily fed on Lestat. For the past weeks, since being trapped in the spell wall, Torvald left the vampires to strave, knowing that they wont die. They might go crazy, but they won’t die. He, himself fed on Lautari and together the both of them lived on the few birds they managed to catch on a daily basis.
“If you kill my son I will end you,” Lautari threatened.
Torvald drank despite Lestat trying to get him off. Lestat felt the vampire poison sweeping trough him and stopped fighting. Torvald felt Lestat’s pulse grow weaker and licked up the wound, leaving Lestat on the ground.
“How dare you?” Lautari snarled at Torvald, running past him to get to Lestat.
“Stay with me,” Lautari tried to wake him up.
“Let him rest. He will be fine,” Torvald said, wiping his mouth.

Jessica sensed the danger that Lestat was in and rushed over to the higher council to seek help.
First, she tried to mind link Wynn, since he was always willing to help but when she could not get through, she mind linked Deacon.
‘Lestat is in trouble. Something is wrong. May I borrow a car?’ Jessica mind linked.
‘You are kidding me, right? You want me to help your lover when you know I want you?’ Deacon mind linked back in disbelief.
‘I swear I will be your queen,’ Jessica promised, desperate to help Lestat.
‘So, in return to borrow one of my cars you are willing to become my queen?’ Deacon mind linked.
‘In return for helping Lestat,’ Jessica corrected him.
‘Where are you?’ Deacon questioned.
‘Higher council,’ Jessica said and made her way to the front again.
‘Meet me outside,’ Deacon said and made his way out of the council.
Jessica waited by Deacon’s car. “Why are you taking so long?” Jessica accused and opened the door after the unlocking sound went off.
“If I help you, you will claim me,” Deacon said, getting into the car.
“That is not what I said,” Jessica objected.
Deacon sat in the car but did not turn it on.
“What are you waiting for?” Jessica questioned in a rush.
“Either you agree to claim me as your chosen forever mate or we are going nowhere,” Deacon said, patiently.
“Fine, I will claim you,” Jessica spat, thinking she will deal with Deacon later since she already claimed Lestat.
Deacon sped off. “Where to?”
“I am not sure but the last images I was getting from Lestat was this,” Jessica said, and showed Deacon her mind.
“What the hell is he doing there?” Deacon questioned, knowing exactly where Lestat was. “Call Michael.”
“Why?” Jessica questioned.
“Call Michael and Wynn. Tell them to meet us at Torvald’s old compound,” Deacon said. “I tried to mind link Wynn, but not getting through.
“I also tried,” Jessica said and took out her phone. “They will meet us there,” Jessica said after calling them.
“We are far out so they will get there before us,” Deacon said.
“Where is there and why do you need their help?” Jessica questioned, worried.
“Torvald escaped a few weeks ago,” Deacon started to explain.
“What?” Jessica exclaimed.
“I also just found out. Anyways, Michael had Ondrink put a spell around the compound that Torvald was hiding out and trapped him and his enchanter. Everyone that went there also got trapped in the wall, unbale to make contact with the outside world,” Deacon explained.
“Lestat is working with Torvald?” Jessica cried.
“Why else would he be there?” Deacon questioned.
Jessica felt the need to explain to Deacon exactly what happened but feared if he knew that she claimed Lestat that he will not help her to help Lestat even though she was not sure what happened to Lestat or what his involvement was with Torvald.
‘No wonder he wasn’t shocked when I told him what I was. Did he know all along who I am?’ Jessica wondered but didn’t feel angry because her, claiming him as her forever mate will let her forgive any sin.
“How were you able to sleep with Emily even though you claimed me as your forever mate?” Jessica broke the silence, wondering how Deacon slept with another when all she wants to do was protect Lestat at all costs.
