Chapter 134

They both walk over to Lord Eliot with their drinks in their hands.
“Lord Eliot, do you really love Lady Emily?” Prince Deacon said.
“I will learn to love her. I am just out of time, and I would like to at least attempt to leave an heir, in case I die in the war,” Lord Eliot explained.
“If another man is in love with Emily, would you step aside?” Wynn asked.
“I am sure that there is no other man that would want a title-less woman and she knows that. Miss Emily knows she has nothing to offer but her beauty and one cannot even be sure that she is still a virgin,” Lord Eliot said.
“If you ever speak ill of Miss Emily ever again, I will end your life!” Prince Deacon shouted, about to grab him, but Wynn jumped in and held him back.
“Go for a run!” Wynn compelled Prince Deacon, not sure if Prince Deacon was wearing his shaman necklace or not, but either way, he hoped that Prince Deacon will go before he kills Lord Eliot.
“I thought you gentlemen wanted to celebrate my engagement?! It looks more to me as if you are trying to kill me,” Lord Eliot said, flushed.
“Lord Eliot, you are to retract your proposal to Miss Emily. You will propose marriage to the first woman you see after retracting your proposal and you will marry the woman before you leave for war,” Wynn compelled Lord Eliot.
Lord Eliot left and walked straight over to Emily’s house to retract his proposal.
“Lord Eliot? Is it not too late to call this time of the evening?” Alfred asked when he opened his front door and saw Lord Eliot.
“Where is Miss Emily? I made a terrible mistake,” Lord Eliot asked as he pushed past Alfred and entered the house.
“She has already turned in for the night,” Alfred said, following Lord Eliot.
“Please, I need to speak to her, right away,” Lord Eliot pleaded.
“What is this mistake you are talking about?” Alfred asked, concerned.
“I proposed marriage, but I was under the influence,” Lord Eliot explained, feeling as if he was not in control of himself.
“I will go get her right away,” Alfred said in a hurry as he went up the stairs to get Emily.
“Emily, are you decent?” Alfred asked, knocking on her bedroom door.
“I am pappa, what is the matter?” Emily asked as her bedroom door flung open.
“Good, you are still dressed. Come downstairs,” Alfred said before turning to go down himself again.
“Whatever is the matter?” Emily ran after her father.
“Lord Eliot is here to see you,” Alfred said as they walk down the stairs.
“Oh, good. He missed understood me when he proposed earlier,” Emily explained.
“So I heard,” Alfred said, relieved that his daughter was also eager to correct the mistake.
“Miss Emily, I am sorry to call at this hour,” Lord Eliot explained.
“My father tells me that it is urgent?” Emily asked.
“I was under the influence when I proposed marriage and would like to retract,” Lord Eliot said, looking confused by the words that were coming out of his mouth.
“Are you ok Lord Eliot?” Emily stepped closer, thinking his behavior was exceedingly strange.
“Please forgive me for retracting my proposal,” Lord Eliot apologized and made his way out.
“Don’t worry about it, I understand,” Emily said.
On his way down the street to his own residence, he walked past two housemaids and smiled at the one his eyes landed on first, the ugliest of the two, Zelda.
“Zelda, right?” Lord Eliot confirmed.
“That is my name, correct,” Zelda said, grateful for the dark night that was hiding her blushing face as a lord has never spoken to her before.
“Will you do me the honor of becoming my wife?” Lord Eliot asked, taking her hand.
“I think he is under the influence,” Zelda giggled to her friend, Isla. The two girls became friends since they were employed at the same mansion. Zelda was slightly taller that Isla with dark brown eyes and Isla had a lighter shade of brown eyes, both girls with hair tied up, wearing simple white caps. Zelda had large freckles spattered over her face.
“Please say yes and we can be married before the end of the week,” Lord Eliot pleaded hopelessly, appearing to be crazy, in love with Zelda.
“Lord Eliot, perhaps if you ask me in the morning again, then I will be sure to say yes,” Zelda giggled as they walked away.
“I will ask you again in the morning,” Lord Eliot said, a little bit too loud before making his way home, completely confused by his actions.
Prince Deacon went for a run, shifting into his wolf form, tearing his clothing. Benjamin went and collected the torn pieces.
“What a crazy evening,” Emily said, kissing her father on the cheek before retiring to her room.
“Good night, my darling daughter,” Alfred said, walking up the stairs to go to his own room but not before checking in on all his other children. ‘Suppose I should look into getting a housemaid of our own, and a cook and perhaps a governess to educate the children.’
Emily sat in her windowsill again, looking at the half-moon in the sky. She noticed movement below. “Puppy?”
‘I wonder what he is doing, just sitting there,’ Emily thought to herself and decided to go get him and take him home.
Emily got down the stairs and put on her coat as the spring evenings were still too chilly to go without a coat.
Emily shut the door behind her as quietly as she could before running over to where she saw Puppy.
“What are you doing, Puppy?” Emily asked as she approached Prince Deacon.
Prince Deacon was happy to see her and ran closer, wagging his tail.
“Come on then, let's get you home,” Emily said, padding Prince Deacon on his head.
As they get into the street, Emily noticed that all the lights of Lord Deacon’s mansion were off. “Perhaps you should come with me.”
Emily decided not to wake the lords and took Puppy over to her residence.
“Shh,” Emily said as she sneaked Puppy into her house and into her room.
“There we go, all warm,” Emily said, leaning against her shut bedroom door.
‘Her room is so plain. Probably have not had the opportunity to spend money on it yet,’ Prince Deacon thought, looking around.
‘Guess I should get ready for bed,’ Emily thought as she started to slip her dress off.
‘What are you doing?’ Prince Deacon thought as he watched Emily getting undressed.
‘How did I get this nasty scar?’ Emily looked at herself in the mirror of her vanity, touching her collarbone where Prince Deacon marked and claimed her.
Emily walked over to her windowsill and shut her curtains before taking her undergarments off.
‘My word,’ Prince Deacon thought, falling deeper in love with Emily.
Emily walked over to her wardrobe to take out a nightgown and slipped it over her head.
Emily got into bed and was about to switch off her bedside lamp when she noticed Puppy looking at her. “Ok then, you can sleep on my bed.”
Prince Deacon gave a giant leap and landed on her bed, snuggling into her.
“My, you are big. You are taking over my whole bed,” Emily laughed, wrapping her arms around him.
Prince Deacon fell asleep, content in the arms of his fated mate, and so did Emily.
Back at Princess Bently's house, Princess Freda was fuming with rage. “Mother, how am I going to get Emily to step aside?”
“I know Lord Deacon is a charming man, but you just met him today. Surely there are bigger fish to catch?” Princess Bently suggested.
“I heard that Lord Deacon is actually a Prince of some sort,” Princess Freda told her mother.
“Really?” Princess Bently asked, more interested in Lord Deacon.
“Just don’t mention it,” Princess Freda said, turning to go up the stairs.
“Guess it is time to turn in for the evening. I am sure the servants would like to get done with us so that they can turn in as well,” Princess Bently said, following Princess Freda up the stairs.
