Chapter 156

Wynn jumped up and, in a split second, was on top of Emily, pinning her down. “Promise you will obey me.”

Emily hizzed and struggled against him, crazy with blood lust and resentment for what he turned her into.

“Promise me and I will make things better,” Wynn repeated himself, but she was beyond reasoning.

Wynn knew that he had to get her to promise so that if she does not obey him, her skin will boil until she obeyed; a vampire promise was what kept them in check. No one really knew how it worked, but some believe that it started millions of years ago when vampires were born and not made.

After two days of holding Emily down, she finally agreed. “I promise to obey you.”

“You are not to attack me. You are not to leave this room. You are not to lure anyone into this room. Actually, you are not allowed to lure anyone, period,” Wynn ordered her.

The moment Emily’s arms and legs were untied, she jumped on top of Wynn, trying to attack him. Emily screamed in pain as her skin boiled and retreated back onto the bed, hissing.

Wynn composed himself. “I will be back shortly,” he said before speeding off to get Emily a human to feed on.

The nights were quiet compared to the days that were filled with war. It didn’t take Wynn long to find a sleeping soldier in a trench amongst others, but he moved so fast and silently that none of them woke up but the soldier he grabbed. By the time the soldier was fully awake and knew what was happening, Wynn put him down in the room where he was keeping Emily.

Wynn still wanted to compel the soldier to not be afraid, but Emily gave him no time, eagerly sinking her newly acquired fangs into his flesh. The soldier did not struggle long before he got intoxicated.

“Stop, that is enough,” Wynn said. Emily ignored him for a second before shoving the human away when her skin started to boil.

“I need more!” Emily demanded.

“Bite open your own arm and feed the human,” Wynn ordered her.

Emily violently bite open her arm before shoving it against the mouth of the soldier.

“Drink,” Wynn compelled the soldier.

After a minute or so, Wynn stopped the soldier and compelled him before taking him back to the trench where he found him.

For the rest of that night, Wynn went back and forth feeding Emily, but it just did not seem as if she was getting her fill.

‘I wish I knew what I was doing,’ Wynn thought to himself by the time the sun started to rise.

“Am I to starve for the rest of the day?” Emily spat.

“I have not eaten or drank blood for three days now and you are complaining?” Wynn asked before leaving the room.

“Where are you going?” Emily asked rudely.

“Don’t make a sound,” Wynn ordered her before shutting the door.

Wynn found another room with a bed and despite the distant noise of war, he fell asleep, exhausted.

Emily walked up, and down the room she was confined to, arguing with herself all day. “Every last one of them will pay for what they have done to me, especially Prince Deacon and his family.”

As the heat of the day settled and darkness replaced light Wynn set out to feed himself. Emily got restless when Wynn did not come to her room and tried several times to leave her room, but every time she did, her skin started to boil.

She wanted to call out to Wynn, but the one time she tried, her skin boiled terribly and she did not attempt it again.

Wynn knew that vampires needed to feed only every second or third day to stay sane, so he decided to stay away from Emily and planned to feed her the next evening only.

After taking care of his own hunger pains, he went to the basement of the house and searched for the boiler to turn it on so that they can bathe. ‘I will have to feed on humans while we are here since there is nothing else around here to eat,’ Wynn thought to himself, hoping that he will not do unreversible damage to himself, since he heard of hybrids that are unable to go back to human food after long periods of drinking human blood, like an addiction.

It's been a month since Emily became a vampire and Wynn has managed to get her on a three-day feeding schedule.

‘She seems to be coping well enough. I wonder if I can leave her to take care of herself so that I can go find Prince Deacon,’ Wynn thought to himself when Emily stopped drinking from a human without being told to do so.

“Do you think you are ready to go out into the world?” Wynn asked.

“Yes!” Emily exclaimed, excited at the idea.

“We will go put this human back where I found him. You will stay at my side at all times until we return here,” Wynn said, picking up the human.

“Am I to go out looking like this?” Emily asked, tucking at her blood-stained nightdress.

“No one is going to see us,” Wynn said, speeding off. Emily wasted no time and sped off after him.

“That was much faster than I expected. You always take so long,” Emily said when they return.

“Repeat after me; I promise not to kill any humans,” Wynn started to list the promises that vampires make before they are allowed out in the world.

After making all the promises, Wynn set her free. “You are now a free vampire and you can leave this house. Please don’t get yourself killed, and remember your promises, especially about the one compelling your blood banks to forget you. One more thing; Don’t ever go near the higher council and if you ever run into anyone from the council, then you need to tell them that you don’t remember how you became a vampire.”

“But won't a human from the council see what happened if they drink from me?” Emily asked.

“That is why I say, stay away from the council,” Wynn said, speeding off, but coming to a halt when he realized that Emily was right behind him.

“Why are you following me?” Wynn asked, halfway across England.

“You cannot just leave me. Why can I not come with you?” Emily protested.

“Because it is not a good idea. I am going to find Prince Deacon and I might have to go to the higher council. Also, you took so long to be trained that I am sure princess Freda must be going crazy, wondering what happened to us,” Wynn said.

“I want to find them too,” Emily said.

Wynn picked up the revenge tone in her voice. “Go back to the house. It belongs to prince Deacon. I will let him know where to find you.”

Emily does not feel her skin boil and realized that it was not an order and decided to obey before it becomes an order that will keep her confined to that empty house again. “Fine.”

‘I wonder if it was an order to stay away from the higher council?’ Emily thought as she speed back to the house.

Wynn made his way back to princess Freda’s mansion in the hope of finding her there, but all he found was a note in a mansion where all the furniture has been covered, besides two chairs. Wynn picked up prince Deacon’s and princess Freda’s scent, the lingering scents still fresh.

Wynn looked around for a piece of paper and something to write with, and was relieved to find a pot of ink and paper on a table when he lifted a white sheet off it.
