Chapter 83

Deacon found Wynn in Ami’s room. “Thought I will find you here.”
“I have some bad news. I thought I will come to tell you in person,” Deacon said, pulling up a chair.
“I am all ears,” Wynn said.
“It appears Paris is a pile of ash,” Deacon said.
Wynn was taken aback by the news, but for some reason, he kind of expected it. “So Paris killed Stella?”
“It appears so,” Deacon said.
“Thanks for telling me,” Wynn said, too worried about Ami to feel emotional over Paris.
“I think Eero has something to do with it as well,” Deacon said after a moment of silence.
“I think Eero pushed her out of the window and ran off. I think he could not accept the fact that she chose our fated bond over him and decided if he can't have her, no one will,” Wynn said.
“That sounds more like Stella,” Deacon said.
“If you say so,” Wynn said flatly.
“There is another thing you should know,” Deacon started. “Perhaps you already know.”
Wynn looked up at Deacon, waiting for him to continue.
“Eero kissed Ami, right?” Deacon stated.
“Yes, and?” Wynn questioned, wondering what Deacon was getting at.
“He had no reaction to her, right?” Deacon confirmed.
“Just get to the point,” Wynn demanded.
“I know Ami is pregnant. I saw it in your mind. If the child was yours, Eero would have gone crazy. He would have gotten vampire energy and the urge to kill her butt it appeared that he was clueless,” Deacon stated his theory.
“I am a shifter and that must be why he didn’t react to my child,” Wynn said, looking over at Ami.
“You know you are only fooling yourself,” Deacon said and stood up.
“What does it matter? She is my fated mate,” Wynn questioned in anger.
“Is she though?” Deacon questioned with his hand on the bedroom door, ready to leave.
“What the hell is that supposed to mean?” Wynn spat.
“You have been fated before and have you had a longing for anyone else whilst being fated to Jessica?” Deacon questioned. “Your natural feelings for Ann disappeared the moment you fated to Jessica.”
“Your point?” Wynn questioned.
“My feelings for Emily never went away when I used a spell to fate to Jessica, even after I claimed Jessica,” Deacon stated.
“I am not you,” Wynn interrupted him.
“Ami still has feelings for Eero,” Deacon said, and left.
Wynn looked at Ami and put his hand on her belly. ‘Do the two of you truly belong to me?’ Wynn wondered. ‘Will I find the truth if I force myself into Queen Amirah’s head? Or is Ami in it with her mother?’ Wynn thought and pulled away from Ami.
Wynn heard the door open and looked around him.
“Just the person I am looking for,” Wynn said.
“How is she doing?” Queen Amirah started.
“Is she truly my fated mate, or is it a spell?” Wynn questioned.
“Where do you get this nonsense from?” Queen Amirah jumped on defense.
“Don’t make me force myself into your head for the truth,” Wynn threatened her.
“Go ahead,” Queen Amirah challenged, knowing that Wynn won't find the truth, since she has a spell over her mind that allows her to show people what she wants them to see.
“If it is not a spell, then why does she still have feelings for Eero?” Wynn asked instead.
“The feelings she has for him are more like sibling love. They grew up together, and that kind of love doesn’t go away when you find your fated mate. You love Deacon and his brothers, right?” Queen Amirah stated.
“I get the point,” Wynn said, and took Ami’s hand. “The baby is not mine.”
“How do you feel about that?” Queen Amirah asked.
“I fear that she will reject our fated mate bond when she finds out,” Wynn said.
“Then don’t let her find out until after the two of you claimed each other,” Queen Amirah advised.
“We won't be able to claim each other until the baby is born,” Wynn said.
“Perhaps the baby does not have to be born,” Queen Amirah said.
“What? You mean to abort the baby?” Wynn choked in disbelief.
“It is not your child,” Queen Amirah reminded him.
“But it is hers,” Wynn said, shocked that Queen Amirah think him so cold heated.
“You have killed many unborn children along with their mothers in your life; does one more matter?” Queen Amirah questioned, standing up.
“I don’t remember that life,” Wynn said. “How do you know about it?” Wynn asked. He never knew of the monster he was before, but hearing Queen Amirah saying it like that made him wonder just what kind of monster he was to kill a pregnant woman.
“That child will not come out with blond hair,” Queen Amirah said and left Wynn something to think about.
Wynn placed his hand over her belly, fighting against his own emotions. ‘No, what am I thinking? I can never kill a child, let alone an unborn child. Queen Amirah must be lying, willing to say anything to make Ami not have this baby. Why does she dislike Eero so much?’ Wynn wondered and rested his head on his arm.

When Deacon left, he went back to find Michael.
“Everyone out,” Deacon said, walking into the vampire throne room, not scared to be outnumbered.
“I don’t demand your subjects, so why demand mine?” Michael snorted and wondered why all the vampires were leaving.
“They might be your subjects, but you are mine, making them mine as well,” Deacon reminded him, and took the seat that was meant for a queen. “Kings with no queens,” Deacon chuckled.
“What a depressing thought,” Michael agreed.
“Where is your brother?” Deacon questioned.
“I had a shaman trap him and his enchanter at an old compound of his,” Michael chuckled.
“Why didn’t you tell me that he escaped?” Deacon demanded to know.
“I didn’t want to trouble you since I already had it under control,” Michael said, hostile, not liking the fact that he had to answer to Deacon.
“Is it just me, or is the vampire wing growing thin?” Deacon stated, as he noticed over the past few weeks that there were fewer vampires around.
“The spell wall also traps every vampire that goes to Torvald. The spell also prevents the hybrids from contacting anyone outside of the spell wall.
“That is smart of you,” Deacon chuckled. “I guess that is why Shysie has not been around?”
“Most likely,” Michael laughed.
“They must be ready to kill each other for not having humans to feed on,” Deacon said.
“They can feed on Torvald and his enchanter,” Michael said.
“Cant they warn off vampires from stepping into the spell wall?” Deacon questioned.
“According to the shaman, no,” Michael said. “I left it to the shaman to do his magic.”
“Which shaman?” Deacon wondered.
“Mr. Ondrink,” Michael stated.
“Ondrink helped you?” Deacon questioned in disbelief.
“The one and only,” Michael chuckled, satisfied that he took Deacon by surprise.
“How did you manage that?” Deacon questioned.
“By asking nicely,” Michael said, and yawned. “I am off to pay Ann a visit to check if she is ok.”
“Take me with you,” Deacon asked nicely.
“The varsity is literally a stone's throw away,” Michael chuckled.
“Then why do you drive over there every day?” Deacon wanted to know.
“The same reason you drive over; to have a car to drive the ladies around,” Michael chucked and sped off, leaving Deacon behind.
