Chapter 132

‘She must be on to us, which means she might have shifted,’ Wynn thought to himself.

“Princess Freda, can I invite you in for a drink?” Wynn asked, showing his hand towards Prince Deacon’s mansion.

‘Why? What are you up to?’ Prince Deacon mind linked Wynn.

‘I think she is on to us,’ Wynn mind linked.

‘Are you sure?’ Prince Deacon mind linked back.

‘Well, we are about to find out,’ Wynn mind linked, waiting for a response from Princess Freda.

“I should not. What would it look like? a lady of my status, alone in your house?” Princess Fredas declined.

“You won’t be alone. Our cook is inside,” Wynn said.

“I will come with,” Emily offered.

“Actually, I was hoping to talk to Princess Freda alone,” Wynn said, cutting Emily off.

“Oh, I see,” Emily said, walking away, towards her own mansion to get ready for dinner.

“Um, well,” Princess Freda said, unsure.

“It will only take a moment. It is about werewolves,” Wynn dared to say with Emily out of earshot, thinking that Princess Freda might not understand the term lycan.

“I knew it! This wolf is Lord Deacon? And you are one too?” Princess Freda exclaimed, almost too loud.

“Keep your voice down,” Wynn warned, showing with his hand for her to walk to the house.

Inside the house, Wynn was the first to break the ice. “Is there anything you want to tell me?”

Prince Deacon ran up the stairs to shift back in privacy.

“No, not really,” Princess Freda said.

“There is no denying that the two of us are related. Have your mother never mentioned anything to you?” Wynn asked carefully.

“After eighteen years of marriage with just one child to show for it, it was clear that the man I grew up calling father was not my father. I would really like to meet my real father. Is he a great person? I take it he is also a werewolf?” Princess Freda asked.

“Well, about that, you see, well, lycans don’t age unless they choose to, so,” Wynn started.

“Oh, my word! Does my mother know this? This explains why the two of you, well, did what you did earlier,” Princess Freda said as she came to the realization that Lord Wynn was actually her father. “What is a lycan?”

“She does not know, but since she has not mentioned anything, we should not either. You seem so calm about all this. I take it you have shifted?” Wynn asked, wondering about the vampire part of her.

“Forty-Nine times. The first time was horrific. I am just glad that no one has found me out. I thought I was the only one. I thought that something was wrong with me,” Prince Freda said, thinking back to those horrid first few times. “Are we lycans and not werewolves? What is a lycan?” Princess Freda asked again.

“Werewolf shifts only on a full moon, walking on two legs, and has claws instead of paws where we shift at will into a full-blown wolf,” Wynn explained.

“I see,” Princess Freda said.

“Imagine your lady-in-waiting to find a big wolf in your place,” Wynn chuckled.

“Do I have any other siblings?” Princess Freda asked.

“I did not know I was able to father children until I saw you earlier,” Wynn admitted.

“The way you carry yourself, I am assuming you are not sure if you have more children?” Princess Freda asked.

“That assumption is correct,” Wynn said.

“I see the cat is out of the bag,” Prince Deacon said, entering the living room.

“Wolves live in packs, so does that mean that lycans do as well? How many are there of us?” Princess Freda asked curiously.

Prince Deacon was about to answer when Wynn jumped the gun. “We actually don’t know of the existence of anyone else but us.  Now there are three of us in the world.”

‘Guess you mean to keep her away from the council?’ Prince Deacon mind linked.

‘Absolutely,’ Wynn mind linked back.

“Unless you have children somewhere? Before long, we will have our own little pack,” Princess Freda said, smiling sweetly at Prince Deacon.

“You should go get ready for dinner. See you at eight?” Prince Deacon tried to get rid of Princess Freda.

“You can be the Alpha and I can be the Luna. Of course, we will have to get married first, but,” Princess Freda said, Prince Deacon cut her off.

“I already have a fated mate, but we will talk about it another day,” Prince Deacon said, signaling Benjamin to get rid of Princess Freda.

“Fated mate? Does that mean that I have a fated mate?” Princess Freda asked, refusing to leave.

“As I said, we will talk about it another day,” Prince Deacon said, looking at Wynn for help.

“My dear, go freshen up and change for dinner,” Wynn said as he walked her to the door.

“I suppose I have to listen to you since you are my father,” Princess Freda said with a sigh.

“Let us just refer to each other as friends. We don’t want to confuse anyone,” Wynn suggested before closing the front door in her face before she could get out another word.

Wynn was about to turn to walk back into the living room when he heard the door knocker.

Wynn came to a halt and hoped she will go away, but the knock came again.

Wynn turned around and signaled for Benjamin to open the door.

“Just one more question before I go. How come I have amazing speed at night and strength? Princess Freda asked.

Wynn stepped aside and showed her with his hand to come in again and she walked through to the living room, Wynn behind her.

“It turns out she is a hybrid,” Wynn informed Prince Deacon.

“Since you are her father, I expected that much,” Prince Deacon said, not surprised at all.

“Have you ever heard of a hybrid fathering a child?” Wynn asked, looking at Princess Freda.

“No, but then again, we don’t really know where you and Shyshie come from,” Prince Deacon reminded him.

“I thought you said we are the only ones,” Prince Freda said with her hands at her sides.

“My twin sister is just a vampire,” Wynn said.

“I have a vampire aunt?” Princess Freda asked, half shocked. “Werewolves,.. I mean lycans are one thing, but vampires? I can’t believe vampires exist. Crap. I am a vampire.”

“You have a vampire friend. Please don’t refer to us as family,” Wynn reminded her.

“Why not?” Princess Freda wanted to know.

“So that you don’t get used to the idea and then have a slip of words in front of the wrong people,” Wynn explained.

“So, am I a lycan and a vampire? Why don’t I have the urge to drink people’s blood?” Princess Freda asked.

“Because you are a lycan. As long as you are not out and about at night on an empty stomach, you should be fine,” Wynn said, wondering what they will do with her, knowing it was best to just let her stay here, unknown by the council.

“Prince Deacon really wanted to have a special dinner for Lady Emily and if you don’t leave now to go get ready then you will ruin it,” Wynn said, walking her to the door again.

“How can a human even be your fated mate?” Princess Freda asked Prince Deacon, disappointed that she could not be his mate.

“I wish I had the answer to that,” Prince Deacon said, but suspected it had something to do with the fact that his grandfather from his father's side was a human.

“If you saw me first, would I have been your fated mate?” Princess Freda asked, wondering.

“I doubt it.  I have never mated with one of my own kind,” Prince Deacon said.

“That is true and strange,” Wynn said, coming to think about all Prince Deacon’s fated mates.

“So there are more of us?” Freda caught them again in their lie.

“Let it go,” Wynn warned her.

“So, you can have more than just one fated mate?” Princess Fredas’s eyes lit up.

“Not at the same time. Finding a fated mate is merely to show us who we will get along with. We still have to claim each other to make it set in stone,” Prince Deacon said.

“I see,” Princess Freda said, as a plan formed in her head. Without all the facts, she turned and left with a hop in her step.

“I thought we will never get rid of her,” Wynn said, falling on one of the sofas in the living room.

“Tell me about it,” Prince Deacon said.

“What are we going to do about her?” Wynn asked.

“Don’t ask me, she is your daughter,” Prince Deacon chuckled.

“If the council finds out that I can father children, they will lock me up and use me to reproduce hybrids,” Wynn said, sounding worried.

“Do you think that you might be some sort of prehistoric?” Prince Deacon asked, wondering.

“I doubt it. I cannot use my Vampire abilities during the day and apparently, prehistoric vampires can,” Wynn reminded him, only, he never tried to use his vampire abilities during the day, fearing the pain it will cause.
