Chapter 216
“Phoebe?” Jeanette confirmed, opening her bedroom door.
“I am leaving for a few days, but I will be back before the end of the week,” Phoebe said, following Jeanette to her bed, which was a four-poster bed like the rest of the beds at the castle.
“I hope it is to sort that out,” Jeanette pointed at Phoebe’s head, swinging her finger.
“Yes, it is. Remember to not let your father or your grandparents' mind link with you,” Phoebe warned.
“But what if they force it?” Jeanette asked, worried.
“Then you will have to go, rogue, before they can see anything in your head,” Phoebe suggested.
“If I go rogue with my mind, they will know I am up to something,” Jeanette pointed out worriedly.
“Then don’t give them a reason to force themself onto you. You are a smart girl, you will figure it out,” Phoebe said, giving her a hug. “Spent time with your cousin. Try to win her trust and get information on her life, but keep it to yourself,” Phoebe said.
“Like what kind of information, and why?” Jeanette asked, a line between her eyebrows.
“She had a guardian and I want to know more about him, but don’t be so pushy, don’t want her to catch on. Maybe she knows nothing, maybe she does,” Phoebe said.
“I will do my best,” Jeanette said.
“Goodnight, friend,” Phoebe said, one hand on the doorknob.
“Goodnight, friend,” Jeanette said back, smiling as Phoebe pulled the door close.
Phoebe went to see Prince Mano in his room but could not find him there. ‘I wonder where he is,’ she thought, but didn’t want to mind link him as she didn’t want him to know she was leaving.
As she was about to leave the on-suite bathroom door open, “Phoebe,” Prince Mano said, his hair still wet, with only a towel around his waist.
‘It is only the fate mate bond, ignore it, Phoebe,’ Phoebe talked to herself in her head while eyeing Prince Mano's torso.
Phoebe bit her lip, desiring for his towel to drop.
“Everything ok?” Prince Mano asked, smiling.
‘He is not even my type. Why do I find him so attractive, that smile,’ Phoebe thought, feeling butterflies in her tummy.
“Just came to say goodnight,” Phoebe said, trying to get out of the room before she does something stupid.
“You can always stay. Do you sleep?” Prince Manor asks, not sure if a natural-born hybrid sleeps.
“I do if I want,” Phoebe said, fixated on Prince Mano that was walking over to her.
“Stay, we don’t have to do anything you don’t want to do,” Prince Mano said, taking her hand.
Phoebe swallowed the saliva that had build up in her mouth. “I, I,” she tried to form words as Prince Mano pulled her to his bed.
After Prince Mano made love to Phoebe, he fell asleep, content and deeper in love.
Phoebe lay next to him in silence, looking at him for the longest time, conflicted as to what to do, questioning if she has real feelings for Prince Mano.
“I Phoebe Makens, reject you, Prince Mano Makens as my fated mate. I Phoebe Akin, reject you, Prince Mano Makens as my fated mate. I Princess Phoebe Akin reject you, Prince Mano Makens, as my fated my,” Phoebe rejected Prince Mano using all the possible names, to ensure that her side was done and that Prince Mano does not have any link to her. She knew that he will still be mated to her, but at least there was no way he could see or feel her anymore, ‘or can he?’ Phoebe was unsure but ignored her questions.
Phoebe heard Princess Freda’s mind link, ‘We are on our way,’ and she saw the location and how to get there.
‘Meet you in a days’ time,’ Phoebe mind linked back.
‘Why do you still need Gabriella to put a spell on your mind if you just unmated with him?’ Princess Freda mind linked Phoebe back because she could see Phoebe’s mind.
‘For exactly this reason,’ Phoebe mind linked her.
‘I thought we are friends. Why would you want to keep your mind from me?’ Princess Freda mind linked back, confused.
‘I am kidding. The queen and any royal with a higher rank than us can force themselves into our minds,’ Phoebe mind linked before speeding towards the location to meet Gabriella.
For the next twenty-four hours while speeding, Phoebe and Princess Freda mind linked each other, but not once did Phoebe notice that Princess Freda and Gabriella were not the only ones on their way.
What Phoebe didn’t know was that Queen Zuberi was on her way to end the Royals of the Higher Council, for killing her son, Prince Ra. Queen Zuberi could not decide who she should kill first; the Lycan King and Queen or King Thorvald.
VAMPIRE THRONE ROOM
“I am bored. Any new humans joined the council?” King Thorvald asked, lazily sitting on his throne.
“Yes,” Shysie answered.
Paris' attention got drawn to the conversation between King Thorvald and Shysie.
“Come, show me. Any that the Lycans don’t know about?” King Thorvald asked, standing up from his throne.
“Yes,” Shysie answered again.
“How is Prince Deacon doing with my former rogue she-wolves?” King Thorvald asksed.
“Last time I heard from Prince Andre, Prince Deacon has left the day your Enchantress send the hunter kid, Avery back,” Shysie said.
King Thorvald came to a halt. “Why are you only telling me this now?”
“Because you only asked now,” Shysie answered sarcastically, standing her ground.
King Thorvald wanted to rip her throat out but decided not to. “You can be glad you are a good f*ck and until I find someone better in the sack, you will live.”
“Here we are,” Shysie said, opening a door.
The women inside the room stood up, smiling sweetly.
“I take it by their smiles they have already been compelled?” King Thorvald asked, inspecting the woman close up before moving on to the next one.
“This one, bring her,” King Thorvald said, walking out of the room.
The woman stuck her tongue out at the other two women before following Shysie out of the room.
‘If only she knew what is in store for her,’ Shysie thought, smiling evilly.
“Where are we going?” the woman asked when she noticed they were walking away from the beautiful, decorated hallways; hallways becoming duller by every passing door.
“To the dungeons. Remember, I told you that all humans start by feeding the vampires in the dungeons before making their way to the vampire lounge,” Shysie reminded her.
“I thought the Vampire King selected me for himself,” the woman said fearfully.
“He selected you for another king, my dear,” Shysie said.
“Another king, but then why are we going this way? It does not look fit for a king,” the woman said.
“Hush now dear,” Shysie compelled her.
They reached the dungeons and thirsty vampires put their hands through the bars, trying to grab the woman.
They walked through the dungeons and came to another door. Through the door, they walked down a wide stone spiral staircase before walking up another double the steps than the one they descend from entering an empty space lit by two dim wall lights. At first, you would think that it was nothing but walls, but King Thorvald signaled Shysie and she walked up to one of the wall lights and pulls it forward. The wall starts to move, revealing the secret entrance to another stone spiral staircase.
The woman wants to say so much, and asks so much, but because she was compelled, she couldn't.
