Chapter 96
“Lycan or Vampire?” Jessica asked one Friday evening to Ann that was nose deep into her books.
“Neither,” Ann said and continued to study.
“Would you like to date a lycan or vampire?” Jessica tried again. “I have noticed a few attractive single men at the council.”
“I heard that there are different species, so why only lycan or vampire?” Ann chuckled, raising her eyes from her books.
“Ok. What species?” Jessica questioned.
“Vampire,” Ann chuckled, “then I can stay young,” she added.
“Ok, great. I know this just guy, but he is a hybrid,” Jessica said and walked over to Ann. “Come, we are going on a double date.”
“Just because I chose does not mean I am interested in dating. I want to finish my studies without love, thank you very much,” Ann said and dropped her eyes back to her books.
“Come on. It will be fun,” Jessica said and grabbed the book that Ann was busy with.
“When was the last time you opened a book?” Ann questioned and took one of her other books and filled it open.
“Every day in class,” Jessica chuckled and grabbed the next book, tossing it over her shoulder.
“Hey! That book is expensive!” Ann squealed.
“Get dressed before I have a vampire compel you to have fun,” Jessica laughed and walked over to the wardrobe and pulled out a sexy dress for Ann to wear.
“I miss Paris, ok,” Ann said when Jessica threw the dress at her. Ann caught it and tossed it back to her.
“And you are going to miss him for the rest of your life if you don’t put yourself out there,” Jessica said and tossed the dress back at Ann.
Ann sighed and rested her head backward. “I don’t want anyone but him.”
“What about Michael? He is pinning over you the way you are pinning over Paris,” Jessica chuckled.
“He has plenty of wives and girlfriends to make him feel better,” Ann snorted.
“Actually, he has not been with a woman since you,” Jessica informed her.
“Really?” Ann questioned, surprised.
“Double date with Michael, then?” Jessica suggested.
“I don’t know,” Ann sighed. “I like him, but at the same time, it is his fault that I am not with Paris right now.”
“So, you are going to be single for the rest of your life?” Jessica questioned, her hands on her hips.
“No. Just until someone sweeps me off my feet again,” Ann chuckled and chucked the dress aside.
“Where are you going?” Jessica questioned when Ann walked towards the door.
“For a walk,” Ann said, opening the door.
“I don’t think any guy will want to sweep you off your feet dressed like that,” Jessica chuckled at Ann’s casual look, consisting of an oversized t-shirt and shorts.
“Geuss, I can put on some shoes,” Ann chuckled.
“And a dress,” Jessica added. “How about we don’t go on a double date? What if we just go out for a drink and some dancing? I know of an awesome underground club.”
“By underground, you mean supernatural?” Ann questioned.
“Yes,” Jessica laughed.
“Deacon is not going to mind you going to a club without him?” Ann wondered and walked over to the dress she tossed aside.
“That is why we are going to a supernatural club. I just tie my hair up and no one will dare try their luck,” Jessica chuckled, revealing the mark Deacon left on her collarbone.
“I guess everyone knows who you are in any case,” Ann said and got dressed.
“Yay, party time,” Jessica did a little dance.

When they arrived at the underground club, Jessica walked right past the queue to the front of what looked like an antique shop. The doorman immediately recognized her and knew who she was and stepped aside.
“Must be nice being the queen of the supernatural world,” Ann chuckled.
“Whatever,” Jessica laughed. They walked through the antique shop to another door that said, ‘staff only.’
They walked through a long passage and were greeted by another doorman. He opened the door and they could hear the muffled sound of music. After another door, they reached the club. Upon entering, it was immediately clear that they were in the supernatural world. Vampires fed off humans, and a few species were in their animal forms.
First, Jessica pulled Ann to the bar where they ordered drinks they did not have to pay for or present their ids for. After their drinks, Jessica pulled Ann to the dance floor. Through the crowd, Ann could swear she saw Paris. Every time she spots him, he disappears shortly after.
“I will be right back,” Ann said to Jessica and disappeared into the crowd before Jessica could stop her.
Ann lost Paris in the crowd again. She was standing still, looking around, trying to find him again when she felt someone pushing up behind her, sweeping her long dark hair aside and landing a kiss on her neck. Ann jerked around, but the person was gone. She placed her hand where the cold lips touched her while looking around again for Paris and this time; she got a kiss on the other side of her neck. She jerked her head around to catch the vampire, but again, he was gone. Her eyes fell on Paris again and she rushed towards him, trying to get through the crowd.
“Hello beautiful,” a vampire stepped in front of her, making her lose sight of Paris.
“Not available,” Ann said and tried to step aside.
“I say you are,” the vampire said, and wrapped his arms around her, pulling her against his body.
“Let go of me,” Ann said firmly, but not panicked.
“Why would I want to do that?” he chuckled and snuggled her neck.
“I wouldn’t do that if I were you,” a voice started the vampire, making him release Ann.
“Michael,” Ann said, relieved, and stepped closer to him for protection.
“King Michael,” the vampire choked. “I didn’t know she belongs to you.”
“Well, now you do so eff off,” Ann was quick to say.
“You shouldn’t be hanging out at a club like this on your own,” Michael said and walked Ann off the dance floor, all eyes on them as everyone made their way.
“I am not alone. I am here with Jessica,” Ann said.
“Where is Jessica?” Michael questioned, scanning the dance floor.
“Somewhere on the dance floor,” Ann said, looking towards the dance floor.
“Go home, I will find her,” Michael compelled Ann without her realizing it so she didn’t think to undo it with the shaman necklace.
By the time Ann got home, she realized that Michael had compelled her.
“Sneaky bastard,” she said out loud and undid the compelling. ‘Geuss I might as well stay put,’ Ann thought and sat in front of the vanity table before taking a wet wipe and wiping her face.
After thirty minutes, Ann took out her phone to call Jessica, but it went straight to voice mail. “Strange,” Ann thought, since both their phones were charged fully before they left for the club.
Ann tried Michael’s phone but his also went straight to voice mail. Ann got worried and dialed Deacon.
“Ann? Where is Jessica? I can’t reach her by mind link. Is everything ok? The last mind link I got from her is that the two of you are going to the underground club,” Deacon questioned, without giving Ann time to answer.
“I left her at the club. Michael compelled me to go home and said he will find her,” Ann explained, worried.
“Fuck!” Deacon exclaimed, and threw his phone down.
‘We have trouble! I think Michael abducted Jessica under Torvald’s spell.’ Deacon mind linked Wynn for help.
